These nice photos remind me of the "bad news bears" movie with all the shaggy hair from the 70's. They didn't have a boys soccer league back then where I grew up, I played little league. And my hair was unkept but nice looking as these players. We never went on road trips either. | |

It's wild looking back in a time capsule like this. Like Wayne, I knew some of the boys in the MBSC. BTW, do they still make Ocean Pacific? I grew up in La Jolla and loved hearing about MBSC and dreamed of being part of it. I was 8 when it disbanded, a sad day indeed. Two boys in these photos friends with my sister who was 14 in 1986. My soccer days were spent at La Jolla High and UCSD. I still kick the ball with friends, and have twin sons -- six years old -- who are in love with soccer. | |

Thanks for reminding those of us who might have been there - all the great friends, now dispersed to the four winds. My kids look at this and laugh at me - I tell them 'just wait!' I met my future wife on a double-date with one of the guys who has more than one pic here - can't say more because we were both a bit "naughty" that night... long ago summers... the ocean and the beach. I know the MBSC broke up around 1989 when I was at USC. Sad day. I was never in MBSC but remember it well. I lived in La Jolla and that club was well known as was the green bus. I knew some guys who played with the club and loved it. You have their pix in the team pix but I've lost touch with them since the 1980s. Is there a history of the MBSC? It would be interesting to read because of the value that club had for guys. I was in another soccer club but always envied the guys in MBSC. I remember the state classics being hosted by MBSC and other playoffs. Would like to buy a printed brochure detailing the history of the club and see what has become of the guys who played with it. | |
