I'm usually at work when you are on and only get to hear sippets of the show at lunch. One day I heard you talk about your glorious brownie receipe. I tried it and took it to work for a pot lunch. I varied a little from you in that I made one brownie mix and put it in a 9 x 13 pan and then put very large size Hershey bars over the entire top. Next, I added a few nuts and then put another layer of brownie mix on that. After they baked I let them cool and then frosted them. They turned out like a giant Snickers and everyone wanted to know where I got the receipe and I gave full credit to you. They thought they were to die for! I listen to your show almost every day between visits to my patient's homes and of course, love it! I've called you & Doria a couple of times, too. (Shirley in Houston). I hope you can help me get something started that has beeen a long time dream. Horton Hacienda would be a home for gay/friendly people who need personal care because they are disabled in some way. My spouse of 17 years died from Lupus complications in 2004 and it was our dream of providing a setting where we could offer safety as well as nursing care to GLBTQ/friendly (someone like your Dad maybe) people with various disabilities. Each person's room would be a suite with mini frig, coffee pot & microwave in their sitting room area, bathroom with roll-in shower and raised toilet with rails for safety, etc. The bed(s) could be hospital styled or not dpending on the individual's need. Couples could be together if they desired to live there together. Anyway, the rest of the details can wait. No, I'm not asking for a donation. What I need is FUNDING and a celebrity name that would help with making the dream a reality. You and Doria and/or Jim, or maybe someone you suggest, could be just what this idea needs to become a reality. Would you be able to help this project? I'm a 249% straight guy, and I just broke up (sort of) with my lady friend of a few months. What a horrible weekend I had. You would have been touched (not literally) had you been there to witness it. A 33 year old man in a mercedes crying like an old fukn queen. I had to pull over to console myself (not play with myself) for a half hour. Though I still miss her, the only thing that helped me get myself together so I could drive home was your best of show that ran Saturday morning. Since I discovered your show (and the station for that matter) while looking for what else was as Sirius, I have listened faithfully every single day, (and contrary to urban legend I'm still not gay!!) I've actually ordered a "this is so gay" T-shirt from thisissogay.com since I heard you talk about it on my first day of listening.
