We talked about how hard it is to lose someone you love and I shared Taylor's story. Coincidentally, we were close to Gloria Dei so despite the late hour we pulled through for a look at the butterfly house. He thought it was beautiful. Taylor is still continuing to help people and is still providing awesome gifts. How lucky we all are to have her love looking out for us! |

I just finished up VBS closing yesterday and there was a girl that loves to sing like Taylor did. I told her how precious Taylor was. | Comments: | It's amazing how you just keep putting one foot in front of the other and go on with life...when such a big part of your heart is missing. You glance at the calendar and make a mental note of the days that are passing, but before you know it, a year has gone by and it catches you off guard. I still have Taylor's "Celebration of Life" little card from 2005 up on my bulletin board at work and on my wall at home. She is surrounded by butterfly stickers and Winnie-the-Pooh...yes, even at 50, I'm still a Pooh lover! It will be 3 years in July that my Dad went home to be with the Lord, every month on the 18th, I think about him. Maybe that's strange, I don't know...but it's a reality for me. He had many more years on this earth, than Taylor did...and why some are given more time than others...is a mystery I can't begin to fathom. We have had a busy year as I am sure you have heard. We moved to LA, California for aboutn 8 months but many things brought us back home. The most important thing of all is our own little blessing...I am 9 months preganant with our son, just waiting for his arrival at this point! He makes his presence known daily but I think he is warm and cozy...he does not want to come out yet! We have named him Ethan Jackson, and of courtse, can not wait for him to join us. | Comments: | Several days ago, my thoughts drifted towards a little girl named Taylor. I remembered her story her struggle her passion, and happiness. When I first heard her story I was so young, at 16, just beginning high school. But I was also a sick child of my own. I was born with Neurofibromatosis type two and it had a dramatic impact on my life. (This is a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow inside the body) When I was nearing the end of my freshmen year in high school I became Deaf and my world changed. I met Taylor’s aunt. Keith’s sister, who was my English teacher at the time, and somehow I learned about Taylor. It helped me through very hard time in my life. She helped me see that I was put here for a reason and god loves me. I like to think Taylor and I are kindred spirits. A type of human being put on this earth for the soul purpose of inspiring others. We were born to shine. I have helped and inspired many people through my own experience and I know that Taylor did the same. You should continue to tell her story. She still lives on. God did not give up on her. He let her sprit stay. She will continue to dwell in my thoughts and in my heart all my life. And when I have children I will be sure to tell her story to them. “Be brave like Taylor, happiness will fallow.” |

| Comments: | Hope you all had a peace and joy-filled holiday. There is always a touch of sadness for those we have lost. A few weeks ago (on 12/13, the date on which, 5 yrs. ago, Taylor had her stroke), Dr.Brinker's wife gave me a purple butterfly ornament. She didn't even know what day it was or what that day meant to me. She said when she went into the store, she had no intention of looking at ornaments, but felt felt drawn to them and especially the butterfly. She said she thought this was Taylor's way of staying in touch with her grandma. I like to think that is true. Hope we all have a year that is kind to us. Tell a Taylor story and laugh. December 11th of each year we celebrate the lives of the children we have lost by a natural death or a death caused by a disease, lighting a candle at the glomming tonight. A satellite picture is taken every year. The lights across the world have become brighter each and every year. This year, like always, I made a luminary for each child I’ve lost. Oh dear heaven, the candle wax set the brown paper bag luminaries on fire. The entire walk way up to our building was in flames. Wax and fire every where. Tom and I were able to put the fire out. | Comments: | There was a sense of Taylor's presence as we gathered around her beautiful memorial on her Birthday.Our hands and feet were cold, not to mention our ears and noses , but our hearts were made warm as we heard all of the Taylor stories that have become so dear to our hearts. It actually felt like a family gathering (as well it should)as once again Taylor was responsible for bringing us together. The scriptures,poems the written memoirs and spoken words were a stark reminder of just how much Taylor meant to us all and how we still miss her even though we know she is with the Lord. I think Taylor would have really laughed about the incident at the Restaurant when it seems we invaded the place and had a good time in her honor. | Comments: | I wanted everyone to know that taylor still influences my life on a daily bases. I loved taylor like she was my own family, she meant more to me than any friend every did. Her life and her struggle has taught me that things arent always as bad as they are made out to be. that as hard as my life may seem it isnt anything I cant handle. Taylor made everyday more exciting. I loved getting up in the morning and walking across the street to see her. People are constantly asking why the talk of cancer or tumors upsets me so bad, so I explain to them the story od taylor and then about my auntie. Just the other day I was waiting on three people and they asked me if I was still in school, I explained to them I was in high school and they asked what I wanted to do after I got out of school. I told them about how I wanted to be a Rad tech and work in pediatrics. One lady told me about how its hard to work with young children, and so I told her about taylor and I wanted to make a difference in other young childrens lives, about how much it meant to all of us to have such great docters and nurses for taylor. The best part was it was victoria Roses aunt and so she knew all about taylor. She has made a difference in so many lives and continues to influence people every single day. There are days where I really miss her and so I carry the scrunci amy gave me in my purse. It reasures me that taylor is still with us all. I can only imagine how hard it is for taylors family since it tears me up everyday. I can still rember everything she said to me. I rember her making fun of her nurse one afternoon, simply because the nurse came in every 10 minutes to ask her 50 questions. We used to laugh so hard at the silliest things. She really was my best friend. I miss her more and more each day. She will always live in my heart, and I will never forget her. <33 Stephanie |

| Comments: | I realize that I've not paid a visit in a looooong long time. :( A few weeks ago, I went camping with my dad. We set up camp in a remote section of the state park -- and were surrounded by lots and lots of purple and yellow butterflies....This year was the first year since Taylor left, that I missed Relay, and was feeling terrible about it -- until I saw those butterflies..... The butterflies stayed with us our whole stay in the park...landing on us...flying around us....such a pretty pretty sight to see.... Every time I see a butterfly I am reminded of Taylor. ((Hugs)) |

The wonderful stories we tell each time we are together always stay with me. When I met Taylor and her family I felt in my heart that God had brought us together because I was supposed to help them in whatever way I could, what I later found was that it was Taylor who was meant to help and teach me. Our first year of full retirement has been nothing but great. We now have time to baby sit our fur grandchild, Doughnut. The first night Michael trusted her with us, he brought with her food, toys, and a Fire Extinguisher!!? Message to Michael: “Don’t you think it’s time to give up your childhood fear of fire!” In all the many fires we have had, no one was really hurt. I never thought it was fair to count slips, falls, or first degree burns, as being hurt. Think of the motto: “One cannot have too many friends.” We’re still getting Christmas cards from members of the McKeesport Fire Dept. They still talk about my homemade cookies we shared at our second fire together at Christmas. Tom is now volunteering at our local hospital as an “official greeter.” Keep in mind only a precious few are chosen for this job. He is sent to the rooms of new arrivals: to talk to them, assure them they will be cared for and make sure they are comfortable. Not that Tom can share the visits with me, he can’t; it’s called patient confidentiality. I can tell by the look on his face when he has had a bad day. A bad one for him is seeing a child with cancer, or an elderly person with no one to come for a visit. I try to look at the lighter side and laugh at the humor of a professional hypochondriac volunteering at a hospital. This is a man who reads the OB’s and Health section before he reads the rest of the paper, even the Sports page. Do you get the humor in this? Hello! Boggles the mind, doesn’t it? As a greeter, he gets to wear a red coat; readers get a blue coat, and a volunteer at the gift shop wears a peach coat. If Tom had a white coat he’d be writing prescriptions and passing out medication to any fool who would take it. I was one of those fools. A few years ago, I had a cold and Tom tried to treat me with old medications from our medicine cabinet. They didn’t work, so I had to make a visit to our family doctor. His first question was: “What are you taking for your cold?” I told him what Tom was giving me: this, this and that. His second question was, if I knew any reason why Tom was trying to kill me. Lesson learned: I no longer take any medication from Tom. Between you and me, he may be trying to kill me. Who knows? After Michael saw the pictures of his beloved dog and the way I dressed poor Doughnut, he explained the reason for not wanting children. He doesn’t trust me with a real child. He still tells friends of his terrible childhood, like the time I dropped him off at Boys Town a few days before Christmas or when we would visit the firehouse, and I told him the big red things were airplanes. And the list goes on. Because he was raised crazy, he knows crazy. Maybe due to me, he is now a great practicing Crisis Intervention Therapist. It’s been a year of projects for me. Remember the old Master Charge ads? Old tin locker - - - - Free Sander to sand off paint- - - $49.37 Different grades of sandpaper to fit sander 172.18 28 days X 6 hrs. X min. wage of $8.00 per hour for me equals - - - - - - $1248.00 One bullet to put into a gun to shoot my cousin Chuck Cunningham, who after all my work, advised me to buy paint remover. - - - - - - PRICELESS Here is a guy that knows everything! Trust me, he really does. But, why didn’t he have the knowledge or ESP to call me 28 days before I started the project? My best projects ever have been being involved in the 24 Hour Cancer Walk and St. Baldrick’s. For the cancer walk, we walked for family and friends who had lost their fight to cancer. I collected money for just doing the walk. Before the walk, all the Catholics went to Mass. Yes, I went to Mass-surprise! When you are involved in projects like this, it doesn’t look good to be walking with a cigarette dangling from your mouth. I, on the other hand, was the only one who had a lighter for my cigarettes to light the altar candles. (Yea, for me!) We bought a luminary for each of our loved ones with their names on them to show their light will shine and never leave us. The highlight of the event was when the cancer survivors took their walk around the track. The cheers, screams, laughter, and crying made a sound that I have never heard before. That sound will always ring in my ears. Saint Baldrick’s event is the one closest to my heart. It’s a way to raise money for Children’s Cancer Research. I’m not going into explaining St. Baldrick’s, most of you have heard me go on and on about this. For those of you, who don’t know about my special project, please go to: www.amiraclefortaylor.com .
