haveing trouble with rosettes. Now I am trying to bead the haft of a bone knife I bought for my daughter's regalia. I am using gourd stitch and my problem is: When you stitch some of the beads in the first row to the leather, how do you know where they will eventually will be placed, since you leave room for the beads from the 2nd and 3rd rows as well? Do you go completely through the leather that you use to wrap the object? how do you get the stitch to be "bead sized" if you are comimg back around once the bead is threaded? I recently found out that my great grandmother was a full Iroquois I am attempting to trace this and want to varify this as well. I want to know more! Her name was Arlina (Halstead)Hornbeck, Terwilliger. She was born in 1858 or 1859 and died in 1930 in New Paltz, New York. Possibly born in Plattekill. I feel the spiritual sense of being part of a wonderful and important heritage. I have always felt this in a deep way that went beyond this recently learned information.
