| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | The reason I hate Cinglar, has nothing to do with being poor, or having my service shutoff... It is because in places where I should and normally do have a full signal.. Sometimes it has absolutely none.. I have the little phone with the line through it that tells me I cant use the phone. I live in the city, hello.. Even the shittiest of cell phones have a signal. But mine? nope, nada...Had that problem when I fisrt got the phone, maybe it isnt the service, but just that Cingular has poor phone products.. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Cingular/AT&T is the biggest group of scammers. I signed up for a GoPhone account that has no contract and I can cancel anytime (the whole point of a GoPhone). I put $150 into my account and each month they draw down on the balance until I add more money. I added a large amount as I wanted to be with Cingular for a long time and I didn't want to go back and update the account every month. About two months later I wanted to cancel my account (as they started sending me unwanted texts and other minor issues that made it not worth it) and they would let me cancel my account but they would NOT REFUND MY MONEY. You can cancel the account whenever you want but you can't have your money back, the biggest scam ever! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I got call from bellsouth trying to sell cingular cellphone service and I agreed. My son needed a phone. I was to pay shipping and $29.99 or $39.99 for the phone. Well the first bill looked ok,and the next I didnt look at. Well bill #3 had me making installments of $20+ for activating the phone, not including the fees above. I hate to call and complain because I can be a real B*t*h. So I just sucked it up and let it go since my 30 days to complain was up. We'll my son rarely used the phone for atleast two months and when he did the service stink. Almost no service in this little town. But 30 days pass to late to get out of the contract. I need to get out of this contract. Help, any ideas. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Anonymous said... "The New AT&T" Believe me I know,I just Departed ways from my Cingular Wireless job,in the Call center. Cingular cannot possibly give great customer service when they have horrible supervisors, etc. They are a fucking rip off & that will be the reason why i dont have cingular service. Ha,ha ha,no but im serious. Coming from the Little rock,Ar call center, before they hire any one to assist the customers they need to hire new Managers & back fielders to assist employees better. It makes the company look very bad when the employees aren't worth jack shit. this goes out to these people work in Little rock,Arkansas,{CHRISTIE HARDIN (LRCC) ,ASHLEY ROGERS (LRCC),LONNIE WARREN (LRCC)},the President of Cingular -ATT&T needs to take care of these ass holes. These are some reasons why Cingular suck, coming from a X Cingular Employee.Blow this shit up & place it nation wide. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I feel really bad for all the customers that sign up for service with this company. I was an At&t representative for 6 months, i worked in the financial department (receivables management), and let me tell you, i'm glad that i quit. I was one of those representatives who couldn't conform to the 425 second rule for a call. I was one of those representatives who actually sat their and listened to the customer, and got wrote up for it. we weren't allowed to credit accounts other than the restoral fee's and late fee's. You want a payment arrangement? SURE! One moment while i review your account... OH!! It seems like you've had a broken payment arrangement in the past, unfortunately we won't be able to give you that payment arrangement and reinstate your service for you.. PAY YOUR BILL! Seriously, and At&t has so many 3rd party vendors it's likely that you'll NEVER speak to a real At&t representative. Seriously, At&t/Cingular is a joke of a company, and i feel sorry for everyone who signed up for their joke of a service! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I just got off the phone with them and I am shaking I am so angry. I bought a supposely new motorola phone from them a year ago for $200. It lasted 2 months. They send me another one. I get a refurbished phone for my new one. It lasts 3 months. I do this little dance in hell three more times and then ask for another brand. Which I get. Samsung. The battery is not staying charged now. (we made it almost 2 months!) They are saying that because the sticker on the back is red that it is water damage and too bad for me. Doesn't matter that the sticker was red when the phone arrived. Apparently, I should have known that what the sticker meant through some kind of ESP. The fact that phone has not been anywhere near water does not matter. The fact that a battery issue is not a water issue does not matter. I guess I should write checks to bend me over company instead of ATT because that is what they do. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I had Cingular (Now AT&T) From August 2006 to December 2006. EVERY CALL AND I MEAN EVERY CALL dropped within 30 sec to 2 min of the call connecting (if it even got that far)Because I would get "Network Busy" or "Call Failed" Messages most of the time. Comm’on, You claim to be the nations largest network and your network is BUSY?? Also, you claim that you are "The network with the FEWEST dropped calls". Are You Serious?? I'd hate to see the network with the MOST dropped calls, if this is the case. Oh, and you claim that an independent research company PROVED that you had "The network with the FEWEST dropped calls. Hmmm, Does this research company have a name?? and If the call did connect and stayed connected for more then a few seconds, the call quality was so bad that I could not understand a word the person was saying. And I had 4-5 bars in most places. Tin cans and string would work better. So yeah, CINGULAR SUCKS!! PERIOD. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | CIngular/ATT whatever the fuck they are have ruined my life. I got my first cell phone w/ a cingular contract when I turned 16 from my dad. I am now 23 and somehow still find myself stuck with cingular for 7 years. Every phone I have owned has broken in some fucked up way that I've never seen before. A hole boring into the screen, powering itself on and off for weeks, the screen appearing to upside down.....etc etc. Anyways everytime this happens I am just months away from my contract finally ending yet having a P.O.S phone that is pretty much not usable. For my job I need a phone and a phone that works so dumb ass me renews for another 2 years just recieve a phone that fucks up a week after I get it. I then proceed to recieve 3 warranty phones before they do anything about it. My Cingular CSR also recently asked me if I would like to ADD the free nights and weekends starting at 7pm. UMMMM I ADDED THAT WHEN IT FIRST BEGAN AND HAVE NEVER CANCELLED OR CHANGED MY PLAN! MAYBE this is why my fucking bill was 296 dollars one month? How is this possible when my phone was shutting off by itself 85% of the time. I have never missed one payment and these people are the rudest MF's. This complaint does no justice to the rage I feel. It seems to me that cingular somehow makes sure your phone will stop working within the few month period your trying to hold out for your contract to end. I WAS SO CLOSE LAST TIME. I had 2.5 months and my phone was working enough to recieve and make call, mind you this was after I had to send my original back to get a warranty phone of the same make that had the same problem. Within the month my cell phone screen went haywire and a burning hole appeared and consumed the whoe screen. I couldnt see who called, what I missed or who I was calling. I NEEDED A PHONE for work and had to renew my contract, I am now stuck till MARCH 2009. Now that I am a little more less broke I might just terminate my contract. I've tried threatning them and they really dnt give a fuck. FUCK ATT CINGULAR. FUCKING MONEY HUNGRY BASTARDS |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Cancelled my service because I thought nationwide meant nationwide. Apparently, it means 40% nationwide 60% local. I guess that doesn’t sell as well. All in all, I’m happy they let me out of my contract early they dropped a ton of calls and my phone would go spastic every time it lost the tower (which was a lot). |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | We signed up for the family 99 a month plan for 5 phones, 2 phones broke in 3 months and our average monthly bill is 245, to stop we have to pay 175 per phone + our current bill for a simple total of $1118.00 . Cingular sucks! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | After a two year contract with AT&T, my company had changed service on my company phone to Verizon due to billing issues with AT&T. I decided to change my wife's personal line from AT&T to Verizon as well to enjoy the free verizon to verizon option. Only problem was, they sent me a bill for early termination when I had more than completed my two year contract. Upon calling to find out how they could do this, they reminded me that I had called in about 5 months previous to complain about roaming charges on a nationwide calling plan. The charge was over $45 for one call, alone. This was my only complaint in over two years. Unbeknownst to me, the agreement to accept the $45 rebate also signed me up for another two years so when I cancelled 5 months later, I got hit for the early termination. I asked for proof and they said they did not need to provide proof. I was turned over to collection as i was white hot angry over this fraudulent action of theirs. Well, three years later, it is still on my credit and so I have to decide if I am really "Showing Them" or screwing myself. They need no proof to insist that I agreed to two more years. Any ideas? |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | cingular refused to honor their rebates even after i sent in all the required stuff b/c they claim they "lost" the one piece that i can't replace or prove i ever had. I consider them in breach of contract. (of course, the contract gives them all the rights) so i never paid them another dime and cancelled the phones. THey are still calling me, and i'm still telling them to suc* my d***. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | My niece has an incurable disease. She went to work for Cingular after graduating college. Before she accepted the job she informed them that she takes treatments for her disease. They vary from weekly to monthly. They told her it would be no problem, she can get it approved ahead of time with her supervisor and they would make her treatment day her day off for that week. Well, when it came time for her first treatment after going to work for them, it took 3 weeks to get it approved. So, she got sick and had to go in the hospital. When she came back to work, she was given a verbal warning. Her supervisor told her that it doesn't matter why you miss work, being in the hospital is the same as going to court over a speeding ticket. It was an unapproved absence. A couple of months later, she was back in the hospital. this time for 2 weeks. They fired her. These were the only times she had unapproved absences. God help the employees because the company doesn't give a damn. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I've had Cingular for a while now and although I don't have any horrid stories to share I can say that I think these bad business practices from Cell phone companies exist with all of the providers. I have had Sprint in the past and let me tell you......My experience with this is exactly like some of your experiences with Cingular. Promise me this, I find out it isn't what they said and in thier words they said "you can't prove that we said that". Well, they were right, I couldn't prove it. So bottom line, I'm not defending Cingular I'm just saying that I believe that they're all equally as bad (or have the potential to be). Don't to anything without seeing it in writing first and keep your evidence because more than likely you'll need it. For those interested in my Sprint story, here it is: Contract was up and Sprint calls me to offer me more night and weekend minutes for as long as I'm with Sprint if I renew my contract. I tell them I don't need night and weekend minutes, I need anytime minutes. She talks to her supervisor and comes back and says that they can offer me 150 extra anytime minutes for as long as I'm with Sprint if I renew my contract. I say "great. Just send me the information in the mail, I'll look it over and give you a call back". She says "it's a verbal offer only good right now". I verify with her that I get the 150 minutes as long as I'm with Sprint no matter if I change my plan or not and then I stupidly accept the offer. Immediatly after that I call to change my plan. I verify with this lady that if I change my plan I'll still have the 150 extra minutes. She confirms it to be true so I change my plan to less minutes. Next thing I know I have lost the 150 minutes because I changed my plan and I'm now in a contract. I call Sprint and complain and they say "you can't prove that we told you that". I drive down to the Sprint store to complain and tell the guy that they told me I would have the 150 minutes as long as I have the plan, but when I changed the plan, they took them away. He seemed a bit confused at first but then he said that on his screen it did say that I would have the 150 minutes as long as I stayed with Sprint. I said "GOOD. Print that out for me right now!!!" He refused and said "Oh, I was mistaken, it doesn't say that". I leave in fury. (Oh and by the way, I was so hot from their crap that I got into an accident on the way to the Sprint Store). I then called "customer service" and they again said "you can't proove that we told you that" (seems like they teach that line in training). Finally I called Coporate offices and they finally gave me back the 150 minutes but said "you will loose these minutes if you change your plan" I said "fine" (knowing that I would now have them with the lesser plan). I waited out the contract and then cancelled my service with them. So the best you can do is stay with a company. If you have a problem, leave when you can and go with someone else. Thanks for listening. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Cingular does not get any reception in rural areas, therefore, I switched to verizon. My son was on my plan and got an upgrade without my knowledge. When I terminated services with cingular, I was charged for my son's early termination which was $175. How can this have been authorized without my approval? Customer service told me that he could upgrade if he has my information, talking about identify fraud! I am appauled that they would do this to me just to get an extended contract. They have not heard the end of this yet! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | i started with the company when it was still at&t wireless a LONG time ago, before it was cingular, and now back to at&t again (haha go figure). and i had very little problems with the service until i started WORKING for cingular and started to see how badly this company screws people over. UNREALISTIC expectations for sales quotas and a competitive work environment (especially with my old boss) made it an uncomfortable place to work for, and in turn, the unhappy workers wouldn't be able to provide friendly customer service to our clients. i left the company in april 2007 (quite recently) and POTENTIAL BUYERS BEWARE: did you know depending on which area of the US you live in, that "smiling friendly enthusiastic" rep is calculating in the back of their minds how they can attach an extra 30 - 60 dollars to your voice plan?? it's true. when i left in may, our feature (data, txt msg'ing, etc.) revenue was expected to be at 50 dollars/opp. at the end of the month. that means for every new customer that we signed onto cingular, we had to somehow convince them to tack on that extra 50 bucks to their already expensive voice plan. one incident stands out in particular for me. this woman came into the retail location i was working at, she had BIG BRUISES ALL OVER HER FACE ARMS AND NECK. she looked so frightened... when it was her turn in line i was available so i approached her and asked her if she needed any help. she then proceeded to explain to me that her husband was upset with her phone plan that she just signed up for the previous month, so i offered to take a look at her account. when i looked up her account, she had an additional 30 dollars in voicedial, internet, insurance, and of all things... PICTURE MESSAGING when she had a plain standard nokia phone that didn't even have a camera on it and wasn't able to even receive pictures!!!!! my heart reached out to her, seeing her standing there, her eyes practically pleading me to give her a plan she could show to her husband was a REASONABLE monthly plan. so with her approval i took off all the unnecessary additional charges and enabled only voice calls and voicemail, which is what she wanted in the first place (something cheap, able to make and receive calls... THAT'S IT). when i brought the incident to the attention of my manager, she was quite upset by what i did because i decreased the feature revenue of her "STAR" seller M-R.S. (just giving initials for confidentiality reasons) and told me IN THESE EXACT WORDS "well, it's her fault for picking an abusive guy to marry." WHAT THE HELL IS THAT??? it was after that incident, when i started speaking up about how not EVERYONE that walks through cingular's door can afford 80 dollars per month for a phone plan so i didn't think that it was fair to expect that from the employees to the point where if we don't make our sales quotas we get fired. and you know... i was told by the regional manager of one of the west coast markets that cingular decided to use the name at&t wireless after the merge because at&t was rated as a more respectable name through third party surveys than cingular. IT'S NOT THE NAME THAT MAKES A COMPANY GREAT IDIOTS... as soon as my personal account expires with cingular/at&t my fiance and i are switching to a new service company when we move to the bay area. and i'm advising all my friends and family to do the same. my future in-laws are switching as soon as their contract expires also. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I moved. I gave Cingular my new mailing address. They even sent a few bills to my new/correct address. Then the bills stopped coming. Turns out they decided to send my bills to my old address again. I call in and find out about their screw up on the last day of their billing grace period. I expected them to give me a few days grace period since it was their screw-up. They didn't. They expected me to pay over the phone at that moment (while I was on the phone with them to find out why I hadn't received a bill) or I'd be assessed a late fee and my phone would be disconnected. Why did they change my billing address? They couldn't explain what happened but they still denied responsibility for sending my bills to the wrong address. Could it be they wanted to charge me late fees for not paying my bills on time? Aren't there laws against this? Its completely unethical and yes I did file a complaint with the FCC. And I had to notify the FCC. As far as I know, Cingular may decide to send my bills back to my old address whenever they feel like it. They did it once, so what's to stop them from doing it again? And how many other people do they do this to? |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | In Oct., 2006, I was sent a letter from cinglar & advised I need to obtain new SIM card, which I did, & Cingular provided a Nokia Phone. Ever since Oct 2006, I have had problems getting good signal @ my residence, where I make & rec most of my calls. To date, this problem has not been solved. I have been in touch w/ cingular numerous times since Oct 2006, & still no remedy. With the old ph. & SIM card I NEVER had a problem w/ dropped calls, poor signal. Who else can I contact re: this problem? Please help!! Cingular/AT&T adv me their was a tower near my res. IAs noted. I have been in contact w/ at&t suppt, & there was a time in March 2007, that I rec "great" signal, & was able to use my ph. on a regular, but this problem started up again in April. After contacting at&t again, stareted red good signal. On 05-11-2007, started losing signal once again. Since this date date to present, still not rec good enough signal to use my ph. Per many of the at&t people I have spoke to, there was a trouble ticket sent to suppt. I was adv. by suppt they would call me back. I requested they call my Home ph # as I have problem w/ cell ph. So the last bonehead from at&t suppt called me, called my cell ph & I did not rec message until I went out of my res area, where I could rec good signal, & was never called @ my home ph as I requested. When I called at&t 06-05-07, I was adv that ticket had been closed, so I requested to speak to someone in suppt. This request was denied, & I was adv someone would contact me on 06-08-07. I also requested to speak to supervisor & adv. she was n/a. I then requested supervisor call me 06-06-07. Never rec callback. I have been w/ cingular since the mid ninetys, & never had such a problem until I obtained new sim card & ph. in oct. 2006. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I work or I should say I am quitting shitville because they treat you like shit, and fill their employees with lies to feed to customers so you can get them off the phone so it does not effect your call time of less than 500 secs. And if you are like me and want to help because I have been on the other side of the line they try to write you up for it. Another, I see were stupid reps wouldnt give credits for overages, all they have to do is ask you to change your rate plan for one month and then credit it and change it back. Another is you don't have to sign a contract to change rate plans even at the end of your contract or the 1st day. Just mention you will call corp and ask to speak with Big Ed which is att's pres, or Stan Sigman cingular's pres, and I bet you get to talk to a supervisor other than just another rep that is called a lead taking sup calls while the supervisors are taking smoke breaks and vising with each other eating. I had service before I started and I will go to another provider. I sickens me how cingular is and how stupid they are!!! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | cell phones are like satellite/cable tv/dish network/whatthefuck media magnant. I.e., they're the mass communication equivalent of the fucking DMV (in california, that stands for department of motor vehicles). It's the kind of place where no fucking wants to go, but everyone has to, and it's staffed, generally, by people who embody that same principal: no one wants to visit them, but we're forced to. They are low-level functionaries with no real power or pull except for the very salient fact that they are the arm of the state government that most people have to deal with the most. And whether they know that or not: they FUCKING SUCK. F the post office, f the campus quad. If a serial killer really wants to vent, why not the local DMV? Not that I'm advocating that. But, jesus people, no one wnats to be there, why do you have to act like such dicks to those unfortunate enough to deal with you? out... |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | i hate these fuckers because of the whole at&t merger thing and because I'm too slow on the uptake to rigorously research all the pros and cons so basically just bend over whenever the f some corporate entity does it. But, I digress. Cingular SUCKS because of their drop-out rates and terrible reception. I live in Fullerton, California and there are rooms in my house where the fucking signal just doesnt' work. And I have some good friends in New Orleans, which is a long way from Fullerton, but whatever: and there are entire neighborhoods in that city where Cingular drops out, cycles through its parameters every time you turn it on, or just doens't flat-out work. Whatever this fucking company says about no dropped calls, blahblahblah, it's full of shit. But, since I'm a corporate slave, I've never had any other carrier but cingular/at&T. If the rest are as bad as this one, however, we're all fucked where the sun don't shine. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | When I started this service they started adding all kinds of charges to the level of $500.00 dollars. I attempted to find out how it got this high, just to be told to pay it or they would stop service and add $300.00 for early termination of service. On May 23, 2007 this was all payed for along with a verbal assurance that I was paid in full and that I would not have another bill until the next month. My service was turned off on May 27, 2007 making it impossible to talk to anyone due to the main office being closed for the weekend. It appears that being honest is the last thing involved with cingular |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I have had a phone with Cingular for 10 years. Easter weekend of 2007 I got a phone for my daughter. I got the family plan- $9.99 for an extra line and we share 700 minutes. My bill should have been about $80 a month. Got the statement and it was $173.67. I called and they said when you make a change to an acct and it is in the middle of a billing cycle, they charge you a prorated charge for that month and charge you another month in advance. I told her it still didn't add up to that amount. She tries to explain the charges to no avail, that's their policy, she's sorry no one told me about the other month in advance, etc. I told her I wanted out of the contracts. We have 2 years left on one and 4 months left on the other. To end a contract early you have to pay $175. I told her looks like they've got me either way I go. It's all about the money-how can they get more?! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | No problems with Cingular until.... One day I step onto the elevator. OOOPS! Dropped my Razr and the screen went blank. Now it's time to replace my phone. Having been with Cingular for 3 years, my contract was expired and I had the luxury of picking from several new phones at a discounted price. I just bought a new house. So, I still didn't have internet at home. With the NEW CINGULAR & AT&T service I was informed by the LYING sales rep that I could tether my cell phone to my desktop and get FREE wireless internet. YAAYYYY I said. I'll take it. I upgraded my phone and paid $399.00 for the new Treo 650. It was a neat little phone. Until I began using it. It dropped 1 out of every 3 calls. Also, it wouldn't tether. So, I go back to the store and they sold me on the idea that the Treo 650 just wouldn't suit my needs. I really required the Treo 750. So, I upgraded, paid the extra $100 and took off with my new device. Same problem. No tethering and dropped calls. Next, I called customer service. They informed me that the reason it wouldn't tether is because I... Shit!!! Dropped the Call Called back. The reason it won't tether is because you have to have the $49.99 a month plan that is required. HEY! No one told me I had to have this plan. Now, I'm gettin irritated. However, because I really needed internet at my home, I complied. I give it another shot. Still no tethering. I spent countless hours on the phone with customer service. All the time dropping their phone calls. I would even tell them to call me back if I dropped the call. When you spend 20 minutes on hold and drop the call you shouldn't have to get back in line. They agreed. We'll call you back. Sure enough, the call would drop. Do you think they called me back? HELL NO! So the next step is to go back to the store and see what the problem is. They tell me it's got to be the phone. Next, we try the Blackjack. It still doesn't work. I call customer service and they tell me it's because I don't have the right plan. OH REALLY? What plan is that? The $59.99 plan. The $49.99 plan is outdated (20 days later). Sooooo, again I up my plan (yeah I know I'm an idiot). Still no luck tethering and still dropping calls. I get fed up and call to cancel my service. My answer has been: I'm required to pay the cancellation charge of $175 for each line (I had two) at $350. I'm required to pay for the discount that I received on the phones $100. They wouldn't take their phone back. And I still haven't heard anything back from the manager that promised he'd call me within two days. I'll be spending this weekend in the "New AT&T" parking lot attempting to scare off every customer that thinks about going with them. I suggest yall do the same! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Because they burned me on a bill. I asked to have international calls on my phone, at a monthly charge of $4.99. It was suppose to be 10 cents a minute to a landline to Japan, and 20 cents a minute to a cell phone. Well come to get my bill they had charge me $3.49 a minute. I was so upset but there was nothing to do about it. I tryed to tell them that I had called and put the international calls plan on my phone, but they argued that it didn't start until the next billing cycle. So you can imagine how much my phone bill was. By time the shut my phone off and cancelled my contract, my bill was $4,100. Yeah that is alot. So I tried to pay on it as much as I could. Then I went do they settlement offer that the credit agency offered me, $2,174, the are still trying to make me pay the reminding $481. That they took off of my settlement. What I am to do. I think I am going to report it to the credit bureaus because they can't do that...I don't know, but cingular was the worst service that I had. Should of know, my first bill was $649..and over connection, phones and whatever they wanted to add on..never go with Cingular... |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Ever since I've converted from the pathetic religion known as AT&T to Cingular Wireless, seems like I made a pact with the devil. First phone never worked properly, reported it hundreds of times (sony ericcson). Bought a new phone (LG), it broke some 7 months afterwards. No, I didn't drop it. The antenna and the case simply came apart. Not to mention, bad signals all the time. Not being able to retrieve text messages or calls. Dropped calls. And being charged for minutes that were supposed to be free, like nights and weekends. Bought a new MOTO RAZR with a coupon sent to me. Wow! I only paid $150 for a phone that is $250 retail. Not to mention, you can get a better deal at other retail stores and carriers. I have to pay $150 for a phone that others get for free with a 2 yr plan. Other carriers carry the phone for 49.99 and some even have better colors. I had to choose from gray or black, wow! And I've been a customer for over 4 years - and this is how you reward me... a $150 upgrade for a phone that was only accessible if I agreed to the 2 yr extension. what a rip off! To make matters worst, the MOTO RAZR had to be replaced twice. Never worked, both of them! Got a replacement phone - and guess what! My services bill was $25 over. And the phone wouldn't work at night, wouldn't let me text and wouldn't notify me of calls. The man who sold me the phone even added additional features and stuff I never wanted. some $90 doolars more on my bill that included activation. what? I was also charged $400 for roaming charges on calls made after 9p and on weekends. Cingular's excuse: stuff happens like that rarely. Cingular's apology: none. Did I get anything in return. Nope, just a bunch of idiots that kept transferring me over and over at Cingular. No one helped me. no one knew what to do. I reached Cingular, finally. They sent me an e-mail... "we're sorry." Yeah, right. Can't wait 'til contract expires, I'm out this bitch. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Cingular/at&t wireless SUCKS!!!! Hey all, thought i'd post a letter i sent to the ceo and various vp's at cingular a few months ago. of course, no response from any of them whatsover. why stay? iphone. i'm writing in this forum because here in texas (where i now reside), my service is once again down. i drop a call (on average) every 5 or so minutes worth of conversation, and have for 2 years, 3 different phones (razr, slvr, and now the blackjack) and 2 different states. i spend an hour every two weeks on the phone w/ the company just begging them to push the button that transforms my service quality from non-existent, to pathetic. today, after my 611 call, service went from non-existent/pathetic to non-existent - for 8 hours now. so, if interested, here is an open letter to the cingular CEO. if anyone knows his/her contact info (att wireless or cingular and not just the general form), please let me know... Dear Stanley Sigman, CEO, Cingular just a quick note from a customer of over 10 years (average annual bill over $4,000) to remind you of the deep and total contempt i have for your company. to be honest, that's really an understatement, because it neglects other important associated feelings for Cingular. feelings like: persistent rage, white-knuckled hardware-destroying frustration, and various negative physical manifestations as a consequence of my relationship with Cingular. however, on the almost impossible to imagine chance that you're not aware of, and deliberately meting out this everyday punishment, well....a little background: right around 1.5 years ago, whenever i went home (which for me, being retired, is fairly often) i started dropping calls, a lot of calls....like, 50% of my calls. "dropping" them doesn't quite do justice for what actually happens when a purposeful conversation had over your network is interrupted; it's more like a "creative corrosion" that randomly chooses when to strike, then, masks the voice of my caller (or callee) in some Darth Vaderesque modifier, then, occasionally restores integrity (probably just to keep my hopes "just high enough") but usually just dumps the call. no, i don't have a fetish for repeatedly dialing numbers and connecting calls as your rated call summaries might suggest. that's not why my bill shows calls to the same number, one after another, within the span of minutes. it's because your network is a grisly, rancid, tele-hate-generator. i'm damn-near certain you know. how could you not? look at the number of 611 calls i've made. read the notes. no less than 10 in the last few months. but you know what i really really really hate though (besides your network)? i hate when i call 611 tech support, makes you wait for.....................................10...........................................minutes without indicating how long the wait time will likely be (BASE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!), then reexplain my problem (full or near full bar reception at my house, 50% dropped calls, power off and on every day, have had the same problem with my fully accessorized razr, slvr, and now my new blackjack....you're welcome by the way), then, after waiting and reexplaining, and getting them to promise me they'll call me back if cingular drops me.....well, I REALLY HATE IT WHEN THEY DON'T CALL ME BACK!!!!!!!! it makes me crazy! wild-eyed, screaming-like-a-lunatic, crazy! and guess what? no, really, guess.... you guys have never called me back. read it in the logs. boy, what a laugh you sicko's must get from tricking me into believing you care (as i do from time to time when i get a rep who pretends to really care)! i can just see it, you guys rolling around on the floor, headsets straining to hold-on, gripping your bellies. you probably have some bizarre techno ability to monitor me (at least by audio) through the phone, you probably hear me screaming like a maniac, laughing hysterically like some hyena before a kill, contemplating which expensive item in my house to destroy in rage. yeah. you guys really get me good. but that still leaves me with one question: why do you hate me so much? i mean, look at my bills; many of them are over 1k a month and have been for about 14 years. um, isn't that a lot of money? you probably knew i tried to get away from you guys. that i bought a Q and signed on with Verizon Wireless. that's when you decided to announce your deal with Apple and make it impossible for me to escape. right? AHAHA RIGHT YOU SICKO'S!!!!!! if the iphone is anything less than a product so advanced it will - by its very existence - prove aliens did land at area 51, well, i'll be gone. you can't treat customers like this for long. | Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Cingular has the MOST dropped calls and more importantly, the most short interval drop outs of any big cellular provider. They are well aware of this. They use a strategy in their adverts on TV where they brag about how other companies have embarrassing drop outs. They are liars and they know it. I despise this kind of corporate dishonesty. I am going to pay the $150.00 fee to drop Cingular as a provider. It will be worth it to be rid of these liars. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I signed up with this company for two Go-phones for my son and myself. While I'm at work, the phone starts to ring up transaction charges all on its own, without me touching it. As it turns out, I'm being charged by Cingular for "internet usage". Funny, because I never accessed the internet on that phone. We went round and round on this and finally, I contacted the FTC. In the interim, I called up again and talked to one of their reps who said the charges were strange, and who agreed to reimburse me in full for these charges. A few weeks later I get a letter from Cingular stating they don't owe me any moneys and will not reimburse me anything. This after their rep had already fully reimbursed me. I asked to switch plans. The rep I spoke to that time, upon inquiry, assured me that the moneys from the existing plan would be transferred to the new plan. I go to use to the phone and it's inoperable. I'm told I have to put in more money in order to use the phone. We go around and around again and again I contact the FTC. No sooner do I do that and my son's phone stops working -- this is my teenage son, all right who has nothing to do with this at all. His phone stops working, leaving him stranded in the middle of the night. I call up Cingular wanting to know why his phone isn't working and they tell me the phone was cut off. I say: "Really? You mind telling me why when the balance has always been paid in full and on time, and there have not been any issues with this phone?" They could offer no explanation, whatsoever. All I got was dead silence. It's one thing to deal with me in these matters, but to take out on my kid, leaving him stranded? How LOW can anyone go? |

I quickly refilled my prepaid account to $1,000.00 I averaged about 10 minutes/month in cell usage, so the $1,000.00 was meant to last me a life time. Within 2 months of Cingular allowing me to bring my balance to $1,000.00 I learned that I would only be able to transfer $500.00 in the new year. I was furious because I simply do not believe that just two months earlier they did not know about the $500 factor. They ripped me off and owe me a grand total of $532.45 and I want my $$$! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I GOT SCREWED BY CINGULAR 4 YEARS AGO... I HATE THEM THEY ARE THE WORST PEOPLE EVER I THINK THEY'RE ROBOTS! So right after I graduated high school i was sent on a paid vacation to Guadalajara Mexico! So I was going to be there for a while therefore I decided to lower my calling plan since they would not let me suspend the service like other companies!. There was this 50 anytime minutes and unlimited nights and weekends plan for $19.99 monthly. That was te cheapest plan so I signed up for that one. I left my cell phone in the U.S for fear of losing that cheap nokia phone. I let my younger sister use it warning her strictly to stick to the night and weekend minutes which she did... I come back from my vacation and I get a $650.00! bill... I checked the bill and saw that it was charging .45cents per minute on NIGHTS & WEEKENDS! I immediately called Cingular and told them that they misled me and told me that the plan was free nights and weekends. Their response? THAT I HAD MISUNDERSTOOD! Its 50 ANYTIME minutes including nights and weekends. WHY WOULD I EVER SIGN UP FOR A PLAN THAT GIVES ME LESS MINUTES THAN A FRIGGIN PHONE CARD??? I argued with managers and many different reps and they all refused and did not care about my problem. The next month I was billed the remaining $250.00 for the used minutes. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS PISSED OFF! I called back and was transfered from person to person all of them saying they could do nothing about it. Finally i decided to give it one last try and I got a synical "man" on the line who refused to help me whatsoever. I said look I jsut came from a vacation and I dont have the money to pay $900 right out of my pocket will you accept payments? His response "NO WAY they wanted the $900.00 in two weeks in full! I told him cancel my account immediately HE HAD THE NERVE TO ASK WHY? OH but I had fun telling him off ( I insulted the company and the jerk repeatedly) MY CREDIT WAS RUINED BECAUSE CINGULAR SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS...I HATE THEM! a year later I managed to get another cell phone with At&t and I was pretty content UNTIL THEY MERGED. I immediately called At&t and told them to cancel my account. They asked why? I said because you are merging with the worst carrier ever and you will be getting many calls like this! I HATE CINGULAR I HATE THEM AND I WISH THAT COMPANY GOES BANKRUPT SOON@ |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Cingular sucks.number one reason...I was with att before cingular came along with the best rate plan in the history of plans...the 99.95 charter plan which includes unlimited calling.as a reward for being such a loyal att customer i was told that in order to recieve a new phone i would have to move to a cingular plan which doesnt compare to the plan i have.So over the years i have been forced into buying unlocked phones to avoid this swich. My phone was shut off for a few hours and said 'sim blocked'..paid the bill and still no service so I call the slick bastards up and they ask what type of phone i had and i told them a blackberry 8700g and the rep asks me to punch in some numbers in the phone and the imei pops up and she asks for the number and i gave it to her unknowingly.she repeats it back and the brand new blackberry now somehow is blocked from working on their network.and they said 'ohhh we dont know what the problem is,but it will be solved when u pick a new cingular plan and phone' mf u and ur plan and phone.so a day goes by and pop my sim back into my old nokia phone which looks like a gold brick and probably weighs about the same and it works just fine regardless of appearance.Im not being forced into a shitty deal by those assholes. been playing this game with them for 2 years now. and now thats its att once again seems like the problem would be solved and our loyalty to att would be rewarded with some respect and the ability to buy a new phone, pop in our sim card and mind our own business but ohhh f..ckin' no.still not the case.Cingular is a bunch of swindlers and we all need to file some type of lawsuit against them.my original deal was said to be in place until i switched and im not switching and im not signing a shitty deal with them lying assholes. Not my fault they created a plan that works for us few who still managed to hold on to it.Keep up the resistance people.!!!!! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Cingular’s Pay As You Go Plan – The HUGE rip off Opinions are worth about a cent and everyone has one. This one is mine. For those of you with less than perfect credit who are considering this option, you are in for a bad ride. 1) There is no such thing as anonymous call rejection (at least on a Motorola C139). That is, there is effectively no EASY way to block calls from callers who hide their number. 2) You will be charged airtime from the second you press the send button. For instance, if your rate is 10 cents per minute and you call someone, let it ring six times and then hang up, you will be charged 10 cents for this call, regardless of the fact you never spoke to anyone or their voicemail. (Unless you are calling another Cingular customer [in which case it’s free], and you will most likely find only a small handful of your friends are Cingular customers – if they are smart anyways) 3) If you ever want to ask a question to Cingular online, you will need your ‘passcode’. If you have forgotten it, they will not email it to you. They will ask you for your cell number so they can text message it to you. Now if you had really wanted to use your phone for this task in the first place, wouldn’t you have called customer service to begin with? Sort of defeats the purpose of online customer service now doesn’t it. 4) Dropped calls? YOU BET. I live 2 miles from downtown Charlotte, NC. I live in a 1 story home made of wood, not lead walls. I get 2 bars max. MANY times the call fades in and out if it is not dropped all together. There’s a dirty little secret that isn’t so much of a secret; just that the salesman will not go out of his way to tell you – the prepaid service phone use only certain towers, not all of them. Now let’s figure this out: you will be paying 10 or 25 cents per minute depending on the plan. You pay FAR more than regular cell customers pay – and yet, you get fewer features, and less reliable service. 5) When you run out of minutes in the middle of a call, there is no courtesy message that interrupts to say you have x number of minutes left; the call will simply terminate without warning. Before you place the call depending on the balance at the time it may tell you your balance is getting low but that is the only message you will get. I find this very rude. 6) If someone tries to call you after you run out of minutes and before you refill, they will not get your voice mail. They will get a message saying the number is unreachable. This is just rude plain and simple! Despite all this, amazingly this is not the worst of the worst. They are beat by one company – SunCom. Beware of this as well. They have a very tempting alternative to the PayAsYouGO rip off for those whose credit or income doesn’t quite allow for a normal cell phone. SunCom has a plan under which you still PrePay but you are billed $59.99 in advance each month. You get unlimited calling – so in almost every way it is like having a normal cell service. The salesman told me I could cancel anytime because it was month to month – no contract. The fact that I had to sign my name on a document SHOULD have tipped me off that I was signing a contract. Anyways, I moved to a rural area a few months later where there was no service at all. Finally I just tossed the phone since it was monthly. AH-HA! I was charged a $200 early termination fee because I did not call SunCom to let them know I didn’t wish to use it anymore. There is a moral here. A salesman may very well tell you what he must to complete the sale. Even though it may take a LONG time to read the extremely small and confusing information (usually located on the back of whatever you sign) READ IT! If you don’t understand it, take it to someone really smart and have them look at it and then go back the next day if you have to. I wish I could give you good news, but I can tell you the 2 plans to STAY AWAY FROM!!! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I requested to unlock my phone from Cingular network because I had to travel to Ukraine. As well, I asked them to enable the service in Western Europe. 1. They stated that the European service is enabled. It never worked in Germany. 2. It took a month to talk by phone with Cingular until they provided me unlocking code. On the day of my departure I spent 1.5 hours on phone talking to the Cingular customer service trying to unlock the phone. Of course, Cingular has untrained reps, so, I followed their instructions and completely locked my phone. Finally they apologized and told me to ask somebody in Ukraine to unlock the phone (!), because they had no idea on how to do that. In Ukraine, at first cell store it took about 30 seconds to unlock the phone. Cingular sucks. They have the worst customer service in the USA. Switch to somebody else. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Consumer Beware...In Dec 2006, my contract with Cingular was to expire. It had been one headache after another. We had four phones. We cancelled our contract and waited for my final bill. Sometime in Jan 07 I recieved an email from cingular thanking me for my payment and reactivating my service. I call them and told them I had not autorize any payment. The rep said my husband had called. I replied that was impossible, since we now were with Verizon. She stopped the payment from going through my stored bank info. I mentioned to her I thought this might be an inside job. ...Who would know to call in and reactivate new phones with new sim cards. She suggested we put a password on the account that only I knew and that would prohibit this from happening again. I gave her a password and didn't even share it with my husband. Fast Forward to Feb. where I checked my bank balance and over 500.00 had been removed from my checking account by cingular. I found out that all four phones had been reactivated with new sims cards and call to Jamaca and places around the world were being made. I had to go to the bank and sign and affadavit stating the withdrawal was not valid. I was on the phone with Cingular for 2 hours. I told this man how could this happen ...he said my husband called in with the password. I told him my husband did not know the password and this was an inside job. He tried to get Cingular fraud to take this over but they said since the caller had the password it was not fraud. He put numerous notes and took out my stored bank info and changed the password again. Today I came home and found an eleven hundred dollar phone bill. The phone had been reacitvated in March and 900.00 worth of phone calls made...Jamaca..etc Ny Chicago..and these phones call each other. I called Cingular and at least today they admit it has to be someone on the inside selling these cancelled accounts and the stored bank info. The phones are turned off now because my bank returned to payment they tried to post to my account of over 600.00. I called the FBI tonight. Tommorow I will call the television station...Oh,by the way the stored bank info the second customer service gentleman took out was bank on my account. They have the ability to catch this person I know everytime someone look at my account they leave a footprint...there is no telling how many other people this is happening to. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | the reason whty everyone gets horrible treatment is because cinguliars makes their csr people jump thru amazingly difficult hoops. everything contradicts something else, like if we don't transfer you to a diff dept and just give you the 800# we get marked off for quality scores but if we do we take a hit on our statistics. thatsd right! when you call customer service not only are we trying to fix your problem but we are trying to stay within the company's set guidelines on how the call should go. like, a call should not last more than 519 seconds, no more than 2-3 transfers to a diff dept. just ridiculous, huh? I undeerstand some people arent very smart when it comes to cellphones but when when you get that little old lady on the line and she just cant understand what you are trying to get her to do w/her cell it will take just about anybody more than 519 seconds to get her phone working again. so yeah suckular is horrible but its not really the person on the lines fault the company is so fucked up. chances are they hate cingular WORSE than yopu do! LOL! dont think i'm trying to defend this company, i'm not they are evil bastards. you know when the merger happened w/at&t they closed numerous callcenters each one had close to 1500 people working at them or more so I can wholeheartedly agree that they are bad people. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | We have been trying to use auto pay for 8 months. They assure us that it will work, then magically, we get a bill with a late notice and a late fee. We call again, they take the $ out immediately, then the same thing happens the next month. I always make them take off the late fee, but I believe that they have a pattern and practice of doing this in the hopes of getting more money through late fees. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I have had the same number for 5 yrs. when I went in to have another number added to my plan. No problem she said. HA! HA! She erased my old number with the new one. No problem I said mistakes happen. When will I get it back? ( thinking that night) Not for 7 days!!! Are you kidding me! this is my only phone number for home and work!! Sorry that's all I can do. What the hell!! How hard can it be just to give it back? So I wait. on the seventh day I don't get it back. I call the store she says that I now have to call customer service becuase it's out of her hands and that I might get to a quicker resolution. So I do and they tell me the problem was resolved!! UH! NO! I still do not have my number back why the hell would I be calling if I did? 2 weeks go by still nothing. By this time I have talked to about 10 different people because you never get the same one. Finally I say I am changing carriers and I WILL NOT be charged the eraly termination fee. Yes, we understand your frustration and I will put in the notes to not charge you. End of stroy. Oh no, no, no. I get a bill for $398.00. I am told that it was my decision to change carriers and that nowhere in the notes does it say that I got permission to do so. I swear I am so agry becuase it's not like threating to sue them does any good because it's a huge corporation and little ol me. I am at my wits end. I want to do something but don't know what. | Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Maybe my reason is unique maybe not. I worked for this crappy company 6 years feeding all our customers the same song and dance you all are complaining about. I was great at it to. Top seller for 6 years running making them all kinds of money. I get pregnant with my son in Nov. 2003[my 2nd pregnancy with this horrid company] and in May of 2004 they fired me. For what? There was 7 people working in the same kiosk and we all worked the same way and did the same things they fired me for. Me and another girl that was 7 months pregnant at the time. I almost lost everything because really who is going to hire a 6 month pregnant woman. I lost my insurance 401k and everything. You think you hate this company think again. I loathe it and all the 'big wigs' that work there, especially in the ETN area. May all there dreams go done the toilet and may they all kiss my ass!!!!!!!!!! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I can make calls from my home but it is a challenge. I have dial the number several time sometimes just to make a phone call. A friend of mine live in an apartment with controlled access. I tried to call her on my phone outside of her apartment to open the door for me. Oh, didn't mention the month being Febrary in freezing temperatures. I was standing outside trying to make a call to her for about a good 5 minutes before my call went through. Their commerical says less or no dropped calls but boy are they lieing. I get dropped calls all the time. Not to mention trying talking to family down south-they hate calling me and I actually hate talking to them because I know I will need to repeat myself 10 times before they can understand me. Not to mention, walking around the room and outside just to get a good reception. I've called to complain, but all they have done was send me the same model phone and say there is nothing they can do for me. I would still have to pay a contract fee of $175 to cancell although they SUCK! One rep told me that because I ordered my phone off line (their website), I would have to pay an addition $150 to get out of my contract. When I called back today, the cust service person said, they have no idea where that info came from but it would only be the $175 to cancel. Awful! It's like buying a bad car. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I have been trying to get another phone since Cingular started charging me extra for their TDMA service that sucked on the best days! I have tried to stay with Cingular, but every time I call them they give me every reason to bolt. I have been a solid customer since 2001, never bitching or complaining even though I live in a major metropolitan area and get service only about half the time. The "fewest dropped calls" claim is a JOKE, especially to the friends that make futile attempts to call me. My son laughed his ass off with their latest commercial about the stolen phone and them giving it back and cursing the guy, cause that guy was ME! I try to work with them, and they want to charge me out the a$$ for a phone that will maybe work on their network, and give me NO credit for never missing (or being late) on a payment, and saying they will waive the activation fee (hey numnuts, my corporate discount waives the activation fee anyway) like they are doing a favor for me! I wanted to go month to month like I am now...but nooooooo....they want to get my nuts in their vise for a full two years. Sorry Cingular/ATT..I have my home phone, DSL, and wireless tied up in your sorry assed company. I will drop each of you and send you the bills I spend with your competitors each month and show you at least how much you lose with me. And if anybody asks about what cellular service to get, I will give them a simple answer. ABC. Anyone but Cingular! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I forgot to add. We should try to get their slogan changed from "Raising the Bar" to "Put Behind Bars". That will happen someday to their greedy, incompetent execs. Fraudulent pricks. As for the customer service dopes, they will simply be relegated to some niche circle of hell reserved for their special kind of passive-aggressive banality. That, or a trailer park in California's own sun-drenched, wind-swept, eastern San Bernadino County (devil worshipping capital of the US)... | Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I have never been angered by a company so much in my life. I have actually turned my monthly abuse of their idiotic customer service people into a sport so I don't go completely nuts. They overbill, switch services on and off, cut off lines with no warning, etc, etc. My favorite was refusing to give me international lines and roaming on my business account because my company was too new. This AFTER I already had three phones on that account WITH such services. I tried to reason with them -- how can I be a credit risk if you already have international services on three other phones on the SAME account? Oh, but that's too logical. In the end, I had to change my account to a personal account to get all my lines on international services. I also got so frustrated with them on overbilling, that I called their fraud department to report fraud on my phone bill -- Cingular defrauding me! They were not amused. I suggest everyone continuing to do that -- their fraud people are not dumb. Just rapacious. Ask for Rosa. She's the worst. Immediately threw my requests in the trash. Been trying to get her fired ever since. TJ is cool. I know all of them as part of the sport. Get their names. Say Cingular is defrauding you. Make it a game. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Cingular billed my online bank account twice in January. My bank reversed the second charge, then cingular reversed the first charge. My bank paid the bill again. Cingular turned off my service because they said I never paid even though the payment is listed in my payment history and I have paid the following month. My account is not past due. I called the service department and they said it was my problem and that they would look it up, but that they would not turn my service back on until I paid the amount that they said I never paid them (even though I have the tracing number from the bank and once again, the payment is listed in my payment history on cingular's own website?????? I tried to go to another telephone carrier and they said my number has a hold on it until cingular releases it I cannot use another service. They are holding me hostage and they have the worst customer service department I have ever dealt with. I think they are commiting some type of fraud. Intitially when I talked to the service department the representative told me they had billing problems at that time, but that I would have to prove that I actually sent them my money. I even offered to have the person from my bank talk with them and they told me their research department would have to deal with it in their own time. YES, CINGULAR SUCKS!!!!!! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | I bought the Cingular 8125 several months ago, it was a decent phone but I was disappointed to see that Cingular released an upgrade a couple months later with the 8125. I decided to buy that phone because it was 3G capable. Thus, I had spent about $1000 just on phones within a few months. I also had the full data plan for $40, so my bill every month is well over $100. Everything was fine until last week. I was using the headphones that come with the device when I unplugged them to take a call and they woudn’t plug back in. I looked at the USP port that the headphones go into and it looked like a couple of the tines were either bent or broken off. Now, I had not unplugged the headphones in any thing other than the normal way. The phone was now rendered useless because the USP port is how the device is charged. I called cingular to see what they could do about getting a new phone and they informed me that this would be considered “physical” damage and I would have to buy a new phone. I told them that this was not acceptable because I hadn’t done anything other than normal use. Then my odyssey through the Cingular monolith began. I was passed from department to department and each person said they couldn’t do anything to help, but maybe the next department would. The last person said that the best they could do was to get me a new phone for $200. I declined because I thought I should get a new phone and it was suggested that I call the manufacturer department. Manufacturing told me that if I went to a cingular store the “tech” there could verify that this was a defective device and get me a new phone. In the meantime I was on a business trip and I needed my phone, so I used a pin and managed to bend a tine enough to get it to charge. This was fine except after using it for a bit the screen went red whit and blue with numbers and stayed that way, despite resetting it. I was actually almost glad for this because I thought this would definitely get me a new phone. BOY WAS I WRONG!! When I went to the store they informed me that what the manufacturer was said was wrong, they had no techs and no ability to get me a new phone. I pointed out that the phone didn’t work because the screen, which clearly wasn’t “physical” damage so that should get me a new phone. They told me that if I sent it EVEN THOUGH the phone CLEARLY didn’t work, the fact that the usb port was broken would mean that I WOULD STILL GET CHARGED FOR A NEW PHONE! What a ridiculous catch 22! I had pointed out several times that it would be cheaper for me to just pay out of my contract and go with another carrier, yet no one at Cingular seemed to care. Still, dumb me, not wanted to deal with the hassle of going somewhere else I called customer care and told them that I would take them up on their $200 offer. This customer service rep “gladys” told me that there were “no notes” on anybody telling me that I could pay $200 and that I would have to pay not just the $465 for the phone I could get in the store but the RETAIL COST of $1000.00!!!! I have spent hours on the phone, going to the store and dealing with this issue. In the end I am out my time, $1000 on cingular phone, and the contract cancelling fee of $175. Throughout this whole process cingular could not have been less helpful. They just pass you from department to department and don’t give a thought to what the customer cares. I paid them faithfully for years over $100 per month, but in the end I am just an insignificant pest. The customer care representative was cheerful as she cancelled my contract. I hope that cingular leaves this post up so others can hear my story. I doubt they will, but I will post it other places. |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | if you cancel your service with cingular--or decide not to renew your contract--they will automatically send your account to a collections agency without final billing you. we ended service jan 31, next payment was due feb 18 but i waited to get final bill (would have rec'd it in early march) because i wanted to make sure we were making our final payment to them. march 6, about when we should have rec'd our final bill, we get a call from a collections agency threatening to report us to the credit bureaus if we didn't pay them IMMEDIATELY--not only the $53.68 that we owed, but they had added on an extra 18% late fee so the total was $63.34!! i had planned on paying the bill in 2 days anyway, so i refused to pay it right away and made them wait until today. they called again yesterday and tried to bully my husband into giving them a postdated check for the payment--postdated for the next day?? my husband told the girl, "do you know how stupid that sounds?" but she didn't appreciate it. she probably also didn't appreciate it when he told her to blow it out her ass! oh well, i know she was just doing her job, but still... so today before i paid the bill i called cingular and acted like i didn't know our account had been sent to collections and talked to a billing rep. she told me we owed the original $53.68 with no late fee and that it had been due feb 18! when i told her we'd rec'd a call from this collections agency, she said i could pay cingular the original amount, but i'd still owe the collection agency the extra $9.66!! she also confirmed what the collections lady told me which is that IF YOU END YOUR SERVICE WITH CINGULAR THEY WILL AUTOMATICALLY SEND YOUR ACCOUNT TO COLLECTIONS WITHOUT SENDING YOU A FINAL BILL!! and yes, our account was sent on march 3, TWO WEEKS after our payment was due! well, obviously i had to pay the bill through the collections agency, so i called "kim" there (there seems to be an awful lot of "kims" that work at this particular agency. hmmmmm...) and asked if it was true that if i paid cingular directly that i'd still owe them the extra fee. she said yes, and they'd report us to the credit bureaus within a week! i told her i wanted to pay the bill then, and for some unexplained reason this woman actually has a conscience and told me if she took the payment there'd be YET ANOTHER CHARGE added that would put our payment over $70!! she gave me another 800# to call, make payment for the $63.34, then call her back with the confirmation number they'd give me. so i did, and they did, and i gave it to her and it's taken care of now, but i am certainly going to get copies of our credit reports in a few months and make damn sure this isn't showing on them. not that i don't trust cingular.... HA! customers for almost 10 years and this is how we're treated?? my husband hit the nail on the head--you are going to be punished by cingular if you ever complain about their service or cancel it. so take our advice, don't even sign up with them in the first place because you will regret it!! |

| Why You Hate Cingular Too: | Please, take my advice and GET OUT NOW! I had AWFUL service, so I cancelled. *First Phone Call* I spoke with this sickly sweet girl named Candy (what an appropriate name). I explained to Candy that my service was horrible and that I wasn't getting voicemails or phone calls when I was in Jacksonville or Birmingham and seeing as I am there most of the time, that wasn't going to work. I explained the whole someone trying to get in touch with me because they were having a baby and needed me to drive them to the hospital story... she said I could return the phone, no problemo. I was skeptical, and she didn't seem to be playing with a full deck, so I called customer service about an hour later *Second Phone Call* I spoke with Vonnie, who had a had this deep, overly sexual voice. Maybe before Cingular customer service he had been a phone sex operator. Anyhow, I asked him to read back what Candy (I bet she spells it 'Candi,' she seemed like one of those)had noted on my account. He did and reiterated the fact that I would not be charged a dime. He just told me to go bring the phone to the Cingular store. So, after switching to Verizon (which is a million times better, I might add) I head to the store. And if you've ever been to a Cingular store (this one, being the epitome of the Cingular store experience) and dealt with those people, you know what kind of torture it is.. *Store Visit* I go in the store and of course there is a wait and some of the "customer service" agents sitting around doing nothing. After watching some poor old man get suckered into buying the latest and greatest phone because his phone had stopped working and knowing that he will never use 75% of the features that phone has on it, it was my turn... I get this little ray of sunshine named Julie. Let's just say customer service is not her forte... I'm not really sure what is, but since I try to see the good in everyone, I will assume there's something positive about this woman tucked away somewhere. Anyhow, I tell her I have cancelled my service, and that's when the claws came out. She grabbed the phone from me and dismantles it. She shows me this little red dot and claims that the phone had 'water damage.' I have had a phone take a bath before, and I would have known if my phone had been submerged in water. How am I to know she didn't lick her finger and touch the damn little dot herself? (Trust me, I wouldn't put it past these people). So after explaining that no, I had no idea that dot was there and no, I was not aware my phone went for a swim (that dot could have been red from day one, I wouldn't have known), I was told I couldn't get my money back, but that I was "one lucky little girl for not being charged anything." Julie is lucky she still has a job after calling me "one lucky little girl." But it's fine, as long as I never have to deal with you people again... my Verizon phone rings (it's my Daddy) and as I get up and walk at the door, free of the Cingular bondage, I tell him what FANTASTIC service I am getting with Verizon and how wonderful my phone is... *Three Months Later* I get online, pay some bills, and check my account balance... overdrawn by 80 bucks. After having a minor panic attack, I call Suntrust to find out what a mysterious $233 charge on my account is... my jaw hits the floor when they tell me Cingular. At this point, I am madder than hell, but have to wait 'til the next day to call them. I call and speak to Erica, a nice woman, kind of plain, probably lives alone with 15 cats and likes to cross stitch trite sayings on pillows, of which she has about 100. She tells me she will call the Cingular store and get back with me. I am doubtful I will ever hear from Erica again, but I let it go. I call this morning and speak with Yvette (which happens to be the name of the claims adjuster who was fired for not handling my car accident case in a timely manner... just my luck). Oh, let me tell you, Yvette is a real GEM. She tells me that the charge is for 'liquefied damages.' Kinda obscure, don't you think? Well I did, so I asked her to explain to me in detail what these charges were for, exactly... she then tells me that 'liquefied damages' mean that the phone CAME INTO CONTACT WITH LIQUID. Well, this was the straw that broke the camel's back. I decided that explaining w |
