My son's father is Daniel Voiers Terrell III of Lexington, Kentucky. My son's paternal grandfather is Claude Bitterman Terrell whose brother was Daniel Voiers Terrell, Jr.. They both were born and died in Lexington, Kentucky. My son's great grandfather is Daniel Voiers Terrell, Sr., former Dean of the University of Kentucky Engineering College. Dean Terrell was also a President of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was born and raised in Trimble County, Bedford, Kentucky. He left Trimble County sitting on the back of a buck board with his trunk to go off to State College (now the University of Kentucky). He graduated from UK in 1910 (I think). Daniel Voiers Terrell, Sr. was named after a Trimble County resident (the Voiers part), however, apparently the name was misspelled by the Terrells. Daniel Terrell, Sr.'s big brother was Claude Terrell, former speaker of the Kentucky Legislature from Trimble County. Their younger sister was Cary Terrell Bray, who, with her husband, stayed on the family farm and raised the world's best peaches. These Terrells had two or more brothers, Robert being one of them. These Terrells had a first cousin who was raised with them on the farm in Trimble County. The cousin was Albert Benjamin Chandler, former United States Senator from Kentucky, former Kentucky Governor and former Baseball Commissioner who permitted Jackie Robinson to be the first black man to play baseball in the formerly all white leagues. A.B. "Happy" Chandler's mother, Mariah Terrell Chandler, was an aunt of these Terrells. |

My grandmother was Clara Barriger and was 1 OF 5 placed in the Soldier's and Sailor's home after the death of her mother Catherine Gaylord Barriger in 1913... Grandma Clara later was adopted by Warren and Emma Crum. Grandma Clara's father Francis "Frank or Soldier" Barriger died in 1910 in Madison, Jefferson Co., IN. Franks parents were Madison Barriger and Rebecca Roseberry of Trimble Co., KY and Madison's parents were Valentine Bargo / Barriger and Molly Williams. I'm told I still have family in the Milton, Trimble County, KY area... With the adoption of Grandma Clara we lost the bond to the Barriger/Barringer family that I am trying to discover again... Grandma Clara seem to keep track of her brothers and sisters... I only knew a few of them...

This is my connection. My ancestors settled Bedford, KY - Richard Bell and Hannah Gibson Bell founded Bedford about 1808 from a land grant Richard Bell received. My grandmother Mattie Moulton Hunt was born in Bedford. Much of this info came from a history written by Bryon Bacon Black (who I see graduated from Trimble County High School)I'm still trying to track down more about my distant cousin Byron (d.1961) or his children. My Mother was from Bedford. In fact, my family has been in Trimble County since the 1700's. They settled at Corn Creek, near Wise's Landing. Two years ago I decided to go to Bedford to do research on my Grandmother, Pearl Williams. I had no idea what an extraordinary woman she was, or just how wonderful the people of Bedford were, and are today. I ended up writing a book about it called, appropriately, PEARL. The book is about forgiveness, but it's also a part of Bedford history. Bedford, Wise's Landing, Corn Creek...as far as I'm concerned...the best people come from there. But I'm prejudice. |

I am researching the family of Stephen Barton and Eliza Jane Miles. They married sometime in the 1860s. Stephen Barton was living with the Noah Parker family in the 1860 census so I don't have any leads as to parents. He is not listed in the 1850 census. Eliza's dad was Walker Miles. your page. My father, Alonzo Morgan, was born in Trimble Co. May 22, 1893 near Milton on Canip Creek. I have visited Milton and its surroundings while doing some genealogy searching. My grandfather John N. Morgan was also born in Trimble Co. and died in Indianapolis , IN 1n 1915. His remains were shipped to Milton for burial on May 23, 1915. Was wondering whether onyone could tell me where John N. was buried. The local mortuary in Milton has no record. |

Trimble County, Orena Tandy. It made me stop and think about the place where I spent the first eight years of my life and would go back and visit quite often. find out more about my Moore/Hogan line all that lived in Trimble County. I first learned of Trimble County when looking in my Grandparents bible but was not able to make out the name of the county but was able to make out the :T: and then found Trimble. I have been able to go back one more generation on Capt. David Hogan 1838 and 2 on Moore, back to about 1773 Thomas Moore his son James M. 1820 and then Wm. Moore that married Mattie Hogan. Thanks again and I am still looking.. |
