Did not know today was his birthday (my sister's too actually). I have always thought of him when reading about a dark, handsome, mysterious man. We miss you and your superb talents Mark!

Comments:I fell in love with Julian Luna many years ago and I was always sorry that Kindred: The Embraced Series was cancelled. I just bought it on DVD to add to my collection and I had forgotten what a great series it was and what Mark added to it. I went to google him and find out what he's been up to and was dismayed to find out that he had died. What a tragedy. He would have gone on to do many more amazing things I am sure.

I discovered him in Kindred The Embraced. It makes you wonder about fate. Blessings to his loved ones. I'm certain he is watching over them all.

Comments:Mark first caught my attention 1990' s drama Sisters. He played a character called Simon Bolt. I remember being quite taken with his dark handsome looks and thinking ''who IS this guy?'' but was not really a regular watcher of the the series so I dont remember exactly how his character was written out of the show. I *think* it is available somewhere online (very rare)as a 6 season package but like the rest money is tight ... but I believe he was in Season 3 and briefly in 4. For anyone who is interested there is a petition on line to get it on wide release DVD. A couple years later when I found out that he was going to one of the main characters on a fantasy show called Kindred the Embraced I was delighted but not surprised that the network did not pick it up. It was a wonderful original show or so I thought about vampires with intriguing characters -----and character development, but if shows here dont attract a mass audience quickly its ''POOF off you go'' :P If you are a fan of any vampire shows and you have not heard of this it is worth checking out. Is is available on Netflix and some fans have been kind enough to post some clips of nearly entire series. It ran half a season but is one show that I could never quite forget and I have seen the good, the mediocre and just plain silly shows in the past about the paranormal especially vampires (although I liked Buffy I dont think I was their target audience *Older woman here*). I think it would have had a better chance had it been on cable but that was not to be. Like the many guests here I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I did not have a computer then, had long since lost interest in entertainment gossip shows, and found out accidentally when I read of his passing in my Sunday paper when a fan inquired about him. Even in a fantasy series you could tell he was capable of so much more. If the mass American audience became more aware of his talents, I think in time as he matured he could have given the Hollywood pretty boys a run for their money. He definitely had the ''it'' factor like that of actor from the golden days of Hollywood. Well I dont know what more can be said as most of the other posters here seem have taken the words out of mouth. Thank you for keeping this site up so I can learn more and will be checking out his other work. Sorry for any double posts the first time did not work(?)

I just read more details about him. I found out he was married and his second son was born just after his death. It is a sad loss, but I hope his wife keeps the memory of him alive for his sons. God Bless Mark's family! May Mark be Resting in Peace in Heaven.

Comments:I just want to say that I fell in love with Mark in the "Kindred: The Embraced". I had never seen a man so beautiful and magnificent on screen. I was so drawn to his part as "Julian". He personifies what it means to act and portray a 'vampire prince'. I am a middle-aged woman who has seen all the Bela Lugosi movies but I have never seen anyone who had more charm and charisma than Mark in his portrayal as the "Prince of LA". I feel such a connection to him even now in his absence but I am happy to learn that I am not alone. We all feel him and he will forever leave the residue of a 'crimson tear' in our hearts and souls. I have his Kindred series to keep him alive and with me. Just wanted to share my feeling with all those that also love and hold him near.

I wasn't aware that he had died. I feel like the world has been robbed of someone who had a lifetime of good things to offer. It is horrible that his boys, and his wife have a lifetime ahead without him in it. It is also unspeakable that his parents have buried their only 2 children?? If this cemetary was here I would leave a stone. I feel bad I did not know about this sooner.

Comments:He seems to have been shaping up to be the UK's answer to George Clooney. The Embrace is a series that never had a chance to really get into its stride, the early episodes are drowning in exposition. But it had a cast of Mark's calibre, it could have soared. I don't know if it really matters but Mark was Jewish; it's Jewish tradition to show respect by putting a stone on the grave, not flowers :-)

Comments:I was so glad to see Kindred: The Embraced on the Sci-fi channel! That was so awesome to see after all these years. I remember when the show first came on...OMG!! He was hottest man on television @ that time. I still can't believe he's gone. But from his show..other great shows were born. *Buffy, the Vampire Slayer to Angel* To be honest, I forgot all about that show until Sci Fi dug it up out the basement. Thank Goodness!! And here I was thinking that David Boreanaz was the best vampire on tv; I was wrong. First its Mark Frankel hands down!! Then Angel.

I was sad to see such a charismatic, handsome talented good family man had passed. You can't take your eyes off him when he is onscreen. What a career he would have had if not for this tragedy. I will continue to be a fan and watch the show when it is on it was fantastic.

Comments:I never knew about Mark Frankel until last month. I watched a marathon if you will on the Sci-fi channel. I fell in love with Kindred: The Embraced. I was seriously disappointed to find out that it was on regularly anymore. Every week I check to see if the show is playing. Thankfully I searched last night and found that I could watch it all day today as well. I love the show. I love Mark Frankel. He has these piercing eyes whenever he looks at anyone in the show and I find it captivating. I decided to search him on the web right now to find out if he's doing anything currently. That's when I found out that he has already passed. I am truly, truly saddened.

Comments:I think this is my first posting to a fan club page but I looked this up because I was impressed with Mr Frankel's acting abilities and wondered why I hadn't seen him in anything else. After reading about what a genuinely nice person he was as well as a great actor, I was so saddened to realize that like so many wonderful souls, God took him early. But then Angels do belong in heaven and he certainly came across that why from the articles from those who knew and loved him. There is an empty place in my heart and I only know of him through his delightful entertainment, I can not imagine the heartbreak for his family. My best wishes to his family and my deepest sympathies.

I'm a big fan and admirer of his work. He definitely would have been an A-list movie star and more than likely have an Academy award!! To his sons; Fabien and Max, don't you ever for one minute think that your dad doesn't know whats going on with you two!! All you have to do is talk and he will listen. I'm sure he is proud and smiling. I know one day I will get to pay my respects to your Father, but since my hands are very busy with 4 children of my own, my trip to England will have to wait. We love you boys very much, we have never met you but we feel like because we loved your Father, we in turn love you. Love from your Father never dies, Love transcends time and space. Happy Birthday Mark Frankel. Big hugs and kisses to you Fabien and Max. From a Mom of Samantha,Katelyn, Connor and Tristan, in Tampa, Florida.

I was stunned to find out about his death and I've had hard time believing someone with such a life force could be gone. However, with Mark's passing, obviously there aren't many opportunities to post new material or pictures. Comments:As many of you here, I was watching Kindred and wanted to know who was this great actor! well, i am just shocked to learn he died almost 12 years ago. It was even more heartbreaking to know he left behind a pregnant wife, small child and his parents. My heart goes out to his family. May the Gods bless them. Its also sad to learn his parents not only lost him, but that he had a brother who preceded him in death only a few years before.. they were both so young! I believe he would have been a really famous actor here in America-he had that "It" factor only a few really have.

I don't think it all has to do with the passing of Mark but more because it strikes a nerve deep within us all of good and evil and the conflict between them. I find it hard to watch now all these years later and see him so young and so beautiful and full of life. My heart goes out to his family and I hope that knowing we still care and that we all still remember brings some happiness to them. He is now and will always be the Prince.

Comments: I first saw Mark in Kindred: the embraced and thought it was the best vampire show i had ever seen. Then i bought solitaire for two, Leon the pig farmer, For roseanna and most recently young catherine. I have also seen maigret and the mad woman. He was a fantastic actor and very hansome. I was upset when i watched him in his final film For Roseanna, it made me think what he would be doing now and how we all have lost an incredible talented actor. I only the discovered the actor in October last year and i am now completely bessoted. I could watch him on screen for hours. My face lit up when i saw in Young catherine, he had a lovely warm smile. He is now a legend in my eyes and in many others. Hes my no. 1 favourite actor, now and forever. RIP Mark Love Lisa xxxxx

Comments:I have just finished watching young catherine that i bought off ebay, i was blown away by Marks perfomance my face lit up when i saw his georgeus warm smile, he was truelly amazing. I already own kindred: the embraced, for roseanna, Leon the pig farmer and solitaire on dvd and i have seen him in maigret and the mad woman. I was so sad when i watched him in roseanna, watching him say his last lines at the end of the movie, if only he would have been it longer. I only discovered the actor in October of last year when i saw him on Bliths kindred: the embraced website i had to buy the dvd and i have looked for as many of his works i could find. I fell in love with his performanes he his missed greatly although i never met him. I often watch movies and think he should have been them, it would have been great to watch him in more things I could watch him on screen for hours not only for his good looks but his pure good talent of an acting, if only steven speilberg had of met him when he started out in his career, im 100% certain he would have been A list and would have been one of the hottest stars in hollywood. What a tragic loss of talent. Like many actors or artists, you take them for granted and don't fully apriciate their talent untill they are no longer with us. He is a legend in my eyes and is in so many others. I will treasure my dvds of him always and remember him forever. lOVE lISA XXXX

Mark's Main numbers: LIFE PATH: 1, EXPRESSION: 6, SOUL URGE: 8, BIRTHDAY: 13/4. Mine: LIFE PATH: 1, EXPRESSION: 8, SOUL URGE: 6, BIRTHDAY: 13/4. Just a bit freaky for me!

Comments:As many people probably are, I have been watching Kindred: The Embraced, a short-lived series from 1996, being shown on the Chiller channel. Tonight I watched the episode "Cabin in the Woods" and it inspired me to find out who this Mark Frankel who played Julian Luna is. And now I wish I never had. I'm so sad and heartsick over learning about Mark's death. Like I said before, I wish I hadn't learned about it. It would have been so much better to be believing Mark Frankel is still alive. I just hope that we do live on in spirit after we die because it truly would be a tragedy for such a beautiful soul as I saw in those eyes that belonged to Mark Frankel to be gone forever. As his old school friend Lesley is, I too am now haunted by Mark's face and voice and probably will be until I too am in my grave. I will miss all the roles that will never be, just as his friends and family will always miss all the memories that never were and never will be. To Fabien and Max, I'm saddest of all because you never got to know your obviously wonderful father. But maybe somehow he lives on through the both of you. By the posts on here, I can see you both inherited his gentlemanly manner, so I guess he does. Love, Jenny Johnson / Astartiel http://astartiel.awardspace.com

Comments:I'm so glad to have found this website. Mark was a very special, unforgettable friend during 1986/87 before he went Webber Douglas. We took method acting classes together and lived close to each other off Wandsworth Bridge Rd in Fulham. I feel privilaged to have known him and shared many fun, funny and also quite intense times with him.Everything that is written on here about him-I recognise. He was, truly beautiful, on the inside and out and I was devastated to hear of his death by chance when I was reading The Stage, one day in 1996. I think of him frequently and just recently have been unable to get him, his voice and smile out of my mind. And then I came across this where I can at least write something instead of just thinking it. I won't ever forget his battered white Mustang, his leather jacket and Marlon Brando impressions-they and he are imprinted in my mind and in my heart forever. How moving too,to see some words from his sons Fabien and Max. It's obvious this site is a comfort to lots of people and has been to me. My friend Mark was glorious in every way-and I'll never forget him.

I will purchase movies and especially the Kindred series, as soon as I have money to do so. Money is very tight right now. School is expensive, even for an old lady like me. I saw Mark one day on Sci Fi in the Kindred and immediately had to go on line to look Him up. His being passed away hit me so hard, I couldn't believe He was gone. I actually cried to know this. He was such a good actor and I am looking forward to purchasing my first series of Him. Tell His family Thank you for sharing that beautiful pic of Him and His wife(?). He was a stunner!!! Thanks, Joanna

Comments:I only discovered the actor Mark Frankel 3 months ago when i heard about Kindred: the embraced, as i loved angel and buffy i checked it out on the internet on bliths website and instanly fell in love the show. Cant believe its took me 11 years to find out about this fantastic show and amazing actor. I was that hooked on the show i bought the show off ebay and watched all eight episodes yesterday. What a georgeous actor very genuine. I was that fasinated with Mark i wanted to know more about him so went on every website i could find. From what i have read about him he seems like he was a lovely person and he was a great actor, best british actor i have seen . I was sad to discover he had died and at such a young age he belonged in hollywood, he certantly could have given Brad Pitt a run for his money and James Bond actors. His potrayel of Julian Luna was the best, you could believe the character was real. I also own a dvd of Leon the pig farmer as well and hope to find more of his work. I will always treasure Kindred: the embraced. I kicked my self when i watched the last scene and realised i would never get to see a second series of the show. Im sure if there had been Mark and the rest of the cast would have blown us away with their performences. Anyone who met Mark was truely lucky. I wish i had been one of those people. My heart goes out to his family, im sure they are very proud of Mark as all us fans are. well done to the people who did these tributes of Mark. Its weird to miss someone youve never met but i do and hope someday i am lucky to meet someone as hansome and caring as Mark. 12 years later and he isnt forgotten, it shows how much of a good person and actor he was. Hes a legend and is the sexiest vampire ive ever seen. RIP Mark thanks for a truely great show ill treasure it always xxxxxxxxxx

Comments:Its amazing how someone can effect the living long after they are dead. I guess in that way he really was Julian Luna. But the sad part is it was uneccessary. Showtime was correct when they said that Mark could not be replaced. Even today who could fill the role of Julian Luna. I used to race motorcycles and there is an old biker saying,"there are only 2 kinds of riders, those that have crashed and those that will.... I was lucky, I crashed 2 weeks before my daughter was born. I hit the ground at about 70mph. I never rode again after that, but I miss it everyday.

Comments:It is so wonderful to find these sites which still keep Mark's memory alive. My husband and I have only had the priveledge to see one of Mark's works in "Kindred, the Embraced" which we proudly own two sets of DVD's to. We recently watched the series again and I am always saddened by the last episode knowing that such an incredible talent is lost forever. I was so captivated by the character Mark played on the series (Julian Luna) that we named our own son Julian. The strength and integrity of the character are traits that made the name seem so special to me. I always wonder about is real life family and the special person that they lost. It was so happy to see a response from both of his sons on this site. Although, we obviously did not know Mark personally, you cannot help but feel a connection to someone who has the kind of impact on screen that Mark did. I feel so saddened by his tragic death but thankful that Mark had two sons to carry on his memory. He was very talented actor who apparently touched many lives in his short career. All our best to the family. Lisa

I can still remember watching Kindred the Embraced when it aired in 96 and being in awe of not only the show but of his abilities as an actor. And while I feel that we barely scratched the surface of his abilities and talent. He is a person who will forever live on in the hearts of his fans, those enriched in the community of Vampire the Masquerade that were in awe of Kindred the Embraced. Most of all he will be missed forever by his friend, his family, and the lives of those people that he touched on a daily basis. But in his own right, he has become a legend, and he will always be loved and missed by his fans. And for me, he'll always be a Prince.

Comments:I remember being captivated by Mark when Kindred The Embraced aired. I was annoyed with the network for the abrupt end of the series, I thought it was their inability to know a HIT when they saw one. I cried when I heard about his death. I am so glad we still have a way to hold on to his memory. It is still hard to believe that he is gone. He was so vibrant, and beautiful. Those of us that never knew him personally will only have his work to hold on to, but it is enough. He will live on in our hearts. He is in heavan looking down and smilling at how many lives he has touched. Thank You Mark for letting us share your light in the short time you were here. Thank you for this wonderful site and your part in keeping his memory alive.

Comments:I would like to become a member ! It is a wonderful thing that you have created this site to help people learn more about this incredibly gifted and handsome man. I have to admit the role of Julian Luna will forever have my heart! I hope to acquire some good pictures of this character and incorporate it in a new piece of artwork. My boyfriend and I do gothic fantasy art work , some of a romantic nature, so I was truly moved by the extreme passion and strength he conveyed. I believe it radiated from the very depth of his soul. No other actor could have ever displayed the tremendous aura as Mark Frankel. The pain of wanting, needing, and having love so close but just out of grasp, or having tasted the beauty of true love to only have had to lose it, has been the theme of many of my personal works. "The Crow", has inspired our work based on this same theme. In fact, my boyfriend won first place in a contest celebrating the 10th anniversary of "The Crow", sponsored by the publication "Gothic Beauty". So this is why I hope to try something inspired by what I "felt" as I watched "Kindrid: The Embraced", and try to capture even just a fraction of the intensity portrayed by this amazing man. I truly hope his family is well and that they know they will be remembered in our thoughts and hearts; And I'm sure having the genes of such a gifted man they will also be a force to be reckoned with, and again we will see a glimpse of Mark Frankel once again in their eyes! Love can never die... It will reach out to those who remember. In Peace, L.D. Zafar

Comments:Last night I got out the video series of "KINDRED" and watched them. I haven't done so since 1999. For some reason, I just felt the urge. A close friend (who lives in another state)and I, would call each other after each episode and discuss what Julian (Mark) did, wore, etc...as though we knew him. He made us feel that way. I was in Ireland when he passed away and did not know it until I returned and got my friend's message. I would not discuss it with her, as you know, it was a painful experience. After watching the "LIVE HARD..." episode last night, I started crying and couldn't stop. I realised Mark Frankel was someone who needed to be remembered and wondered if anyone had. I went to the compter and found this website. I did not know until last night, that he had passed away on my birthday. What is ironic is that the title to the "LIVE HARD..." episode reminded me of a quote by another actor whom I adored, James Dean, who passed away just a few days after my 7th birthday. Two, beautiful young men....gone, but not forgotten. I cannot imagine the loss for those who knew Mark personally, or how much you must miss him, as I feel a bit sad today. And so, I have to remind myself that, "GOD gives us love, but someone to love, he just loans us."

Comments:As his mother's cousin, I had the pleasure of knowing Mark for many years. I can only say that he was exceptionally beautiful on the inside. He was warm, fun loving, witty and compassionate. So that when you looked at him , it was this beauty that was reflected in his face and mannerisms. He was adorable when he was a little boy and stunning as an adult, even more than the movies. His humour was contagious and I was convinced that some day comedy would be one of his main genres. We all miss him very much but his love of his family and his friends still lives on in each of us. from angela (brown)

Comments:I had never heard of Mark before when I happened to see a HBO movie called Young Catherine. I was blown away by his presence. Then I started to watch The Kindred and there he was. This intense beautiful young man. This series was on my "had to watch and never miss" and then one day it wasn't on anymore. When I realized that he had died in a accident I was devastated. So young and so tragic a loss for all his fans.

Comments:I am still mesmerized by Mark. Whenever I get some time to myself I watch the Kindred. No matter how many times I see it the same feelings wash over me. He is so handsome, forever beautiful, forever young and forever calling out to all of us from wherever he is. I am always saddened by how little time he had here with us on this earth. And as always I want to send my love to his family to let them know that they are not alone. We all miss him!

Comments:I just recently watched Mark Frankel in Kindred: The Embraced series. Everytime I watch the series I am mesmerized from the roof top sence right until the end. Mark is such a great presence. I have watched his other movies and the same presence is there. It is so sad that his life was cut short. It's such a shame that his light was snuffed out before it really had a chance to shine. I miss him so much. It really helps that this website is her to see that I'm not alone. My deepest condolences to his family. I will forever carry my memories close to my heart. In my mind "the prince" will always live on.
