| Comments: | I was in a small group of Rpers (small as in "me and two other guys") once. Since there were so few of us, we all wound up playing multiple characters, and we took turns being the ST. This happened on my turn. I was working on a story wherein the players would find and finish off a Methusalan vampire and get rid of a bloodsucking, parasitic demonic claw possessed by one of the characters.
One of my friends has two characters (a Homid Fenrir werewolf, "Blackjack", and a Euthanatos mage, "H'or" [don't ask, I don't know]) who happen to be mercenaries/bounty hunters/guns for hire/etc. At one point in the story, they decided to check in on an old contact/employer in the Russian mafia. However, their sudden appearance left the guards somewhat on edge... Their former employer was delighted to see them again, chatted them up briefly, gave out the details of a job, etc. Finally, he gives Blackjack a note, written in Russian, for him to give to the mob boss' underling leading a paranoid contingent of guards outside the (bulletproof) doors of the boss' office. Once they exit, it becomes clear that the underling has no idea what happened in the office, and because of this he has no intention of letting them leave alive. Blackjack decides, for whatever reason, to stroll casually toward the underling, without having the note in hand, and in the face of about ten grunts with submachine guns (bear in mind that Blackjack is Homid and in Homid form). He isn't deterred when the underling raises his hand in command. Finally (after I, the ST, had gotten sick of the situation), the guards opened fire. 10 guys with fully loaded SMGs, going full-auto on Blackjack at nearly point-blank range. They missed. Completely. (they did, however, pin the mage, who had been standing farther away and off to the side, against the wall with four levels of lethal damage) Long story short, the two got out safely (after Blackjack handed the underling the note), the underling got an easily audible chewing-out in Russian from his boss, and our small group coined a new phrase: "pulling a Blackjack." (i.e. walking through a situation of inevitable death and coming out completely unscathed). |

The black snow slowly drifted onto the ground. The black powder covered most of the world at this time. Arieswar was leader of the last army of humanity. For ages this war had been going on, day after day, year after year. The humans were on their last legs, totally surrounded by the creatures of the dark lord, Zath Roth. “They’re surrounding us! We can’t hold them for long!” One of the soldiers cried to the last hope of humanity. Five swords were sheathed around his waist. Arieswar was the only general in the army that never rode on a horse; his long legs carried him faster then the horses could ever image to. He was born centuries ago, defending freedom and light of the free world for as long as he could. “We won’t give up! As long as we live, theirs hope!” Arieswar replied, before running off to the new battlefield, which was now in front of the Amazon city of Carlin. Arieswar unsheathed two of his swords and ran towards the first wave and the weakest of the creatures; the Orcs. He slashed through them, tearing them to pieces. He had only begun fighting when the Orcs started to retreat, and the Orc shaman came. “The second wave…” Arieswar thought as he sheathed one of the swords and took out a Blessed Shield. “Paladins! Attack on sight! Knights, move in! All mages, stay ready!” Arieswar said as he and the knights charged in. The shamans were packed with spells. There were two divisions, the healers, and the attackers. “Paladins, take out the healers! Knights, cover them, then attack when the healers are dead!” Arieswar yelled out orders as he charged in once more, cutting off Orc heads in one stroke. The paladins were taking out the healers quite well, and only a few remained. Most had either died or retreated to the safety of Elven Bane. “That was… quite an easy victory… we barely had casualties.” Arieswar turned around to a group of soldiers, “Return to the fort and tell the king that the Orcs have been contained for no-” Arieswar was interrupted by an angry group of Minotaurs and Minotaur mages. “The Orcs had run to get reinforcements… this battle appears lost.” Arieswar thought as his weary warriors got up once more and unsheathed their swords. This would be the deciding battle for Carlin. This was the last wave from Elven Bane. Besides the Orcs, the Minotaurs were the most powerful beings around Carlin. If they were eliminated, Carlin would be safe for a period of time. “All men prepare for the last battle for Carlin! Mages, prepare to use Sudden Deaths!” Arieswar shouted at the feeble soldiers. The mages gasped at the word of the most powerful rune in this world. Thousands of mages took out their runes and aimed them at the Minotaur mages. There were at least a hundred thousand Minotaurs, and ten thousand mages. The castle of Zath Roth was watching from above. |
