I got started 10 years ago, trying to replace my very played with 1955 PL Ginny that my Mom THREW AWAY, along with every single childhood toy I ever had :(, including the original 1959 swimsuit blonde Barbie!!! which I got for Christmas at 9 years old. Those were the only dolls I owned actually, but oh how my best friend and I loved playing for hours on end with our treasures. I only have about 5 close to mint strung PL Ginnys, preferring, like you, to save up for as original and mint dolls as I can afford. Last year I joined a doll class for making fabric dolls, my intention was to see what went on in these classes, I've learned several techniques that were new to me. Now, I've gotten hung up on Saucey Walkers, I ordered a repair book and I'm interested in trying to do the repairs. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. I just read some one needing strong rubber bands for a doll, are those hard to get? Also trying to get a couple 22" original Saucy Boxes,(with inserts) is that impossible? I am a multi-faceted creative inventor who works in multiple fields, and my favorite dolls are on strings....the marionettes I made when I was doing puppet shows. I have awesome unique photos of many of my creations & transformations that I call 'Inventivations', but am retired and it would be too stressful for me to have a business. The only doll that I had saved from my childhood, was my "Ginger" doll that my mother had ordered from a promotion on the back of a cereal box. It was the late 50's or very early 60's. Unfortunately, the doll was lost in a fire last month. Although it wouldn't be "my" doll, I would still like to replace it, so that is why I was searching in Google. I live in Michigan's (beautiful) Upper Peninsula. I am wondering when the snow will stop. We literally get hundreds of inches dumped on us every year. There's so much snow, that by late winter (which is already spring for most parts of the country), there's just no place left to put it, so we have special trucks with a huge snowblowers that go down all of the streets and blow the snow into huge dump trucks, then it is hauled to and dumped into the lake. Our winters are rough (and COLD!), but when I hear about people losing their homes in forest fires, hurricanes, tornados,earthquakes and floods, I don't complain. I enjoyed visiting your web site. |

I've enjoyed visiting your site. Your story is similar to mine (about your interest in doll collecting.) I recently got all my childhood dolls out of the cedar chest when my REAL children went out on their own. My first stop after that was at a doll shop to get missing pieces of their outfits, too. Then it was on to doll shows where I saw dolls I had remembered from childhood (the 50's and early 60's) but hadn't had, so I had to get them! My favorite activity is sewing for dolls that need proper clothes. I use vintage patterns and fabrics to re-create the right look. Question: what do LMR and NASB stand for? I am unfamiliar with these terms and always trying to learn more! |

| Comments: | I am trying to find a NANCY NURSE doll. She came with her own little canopy bed, a little white nightstand, and a jr. nurses kit, complete with nurses hat. She had batteries and talked. She had a hard plastic body and blond hair.
Also trying to find a TINY TEARS doll. She had a pink dress, blond hair, and came with a bottle. Her body was soft and when you fed her, tears came out of her eyes. My daughter has seen pictures of me with them, and we would like to find them so that she could put them into her collection |
