I bought an Arabian gelding who was surviving by eating gravel in the lot he was turned out in (his owners surrendered him rather than pay his board bill). We later found out he had been a successful stallion and show horse in the Columbus OH area but ended up gelded and neglected some years later. |

First we need to save our farm then we can save the horses and all the other animals we plan to save in this cruel world. We have had a rash of bad luck...but like it has been said to us "if it weren't for bad luck we woulden't have any at all" and that is the truth...we are holding our heads high and trying to get through the tough times we are having at this time. Knowing what you have all done and all the good and all the love you have makes me continue on with this life. Some day I should be able to get enough gas in my car to come see ya'all again. I also wanted to let you know I had to GIVE 2 of my horses away, the 2 horses I was telling you about a while back, yea, I gave them to some people that do not live far from me and they have told me that if they can not handle them or for any reason they want to get rid of them, no matter how long(even if it is 10yrs from now) I am the first perosn they will be calling. These are very nice and wonderful people. She is a person that works with mentally handicapped children and he is a welder. They are from southern Indiana or Illinois. Really special people with great big hearts like you, mom and dad! Again you are my light at the end of my very long tunnel and will always be the biggest and best light in my life. I don't believe in making any animal suffer in anyway if possible. I wish I lived on a ranch so I could keep them all from being destroyed. | Comments: | I saved a 23 year old horse from slaughter around Christmas 2004. He is a wonderful guy who needs weight put on him can be lead by merely tuging on his main. We got his feet looking better no so badly cracked and he has gained some weight in the short time we have had him. We lost a colt to collic just about 24 hours ago. We had the vet out last week and just knew he be okay he seemed to do well on the medication but after it was all gone guess he just slipped away. We will most definately miss him. My husband Mike and I started a horse rescue about seven or eight months ago, hree in Alberta, Canada. We have gone from 2 horses to, currently, 38, plus various other residents! You have a really nice site! I was telling Betty about the trouble I'm having trying to put weight on one of our older rescues, and that's where your name came up. The horse slaughter industry is alive and well up here. I cannot believe the wonderful horses we have purchased directly from the meat pens, and from the auction where their certain destiny was the feedlot and subsequently the slaughter house.
