I remeber my early childhood when whilst sitting on the lap of my Nani I used to listen sweet and melodies folksongs in the form of Prati, Sanjh, Udasi, Nachari, Maheshbani and others. As a result after doing my Master I decided to work on this and did my Ph.D. on "Structure and Cognition of the Folksongs of Mithila". I love Mithila, its thousands of hundreds of yaers of history, art and culture, living tangible and intangible heritages and the Maithili food - Mach aur bhaat. You have done a wonderful job. | Comments: | The history of Mithila does not center round Violent feats of arms but round Courts engrossed in the luxurious enjoyment of literature and learning. But while Mithila's fame does not rest on heroic deeds it must be duly honored as the house where the enlightened and learned might always find a generous, peace and safety. Before 1000B.C,it was the great center of Hindu learning from the sixth to third century before Christ,Vaishali,a town in its border was a buddhist stronghold and in fifth century after the sun of Buddhism had set Mithila again sprang into notice as the home of Hindu enlightment. When eventually the first flood of Muslman invasion coming down the Ganges,did spread Bihar,it subsided,leaving Mithila with Hindu Kings still holding courts where poetry and learning were alone honored. -Stevence Moor. Mithila is made up of not less than three ancient principalities,namely Videha,Vaishali and Anga.Thus it would be like the United Province of Agra and Awadh popularly known as United Province now constituted into the state Uttar Pradesh. It comprises the districts ofChamparan,Muzaffarpur,Darbhanga,Madhubani,Sitamadhi,Samastipur,Begusarai,Khagariya,Monghyr,Bhagalpur, Godda,Banka,Saharsa,Madhepura,Purnea,Araria,Supaul and Terai region in Nepal. But over the years or rather centuries it has become fragmented from within. So the Whole stretch of length and breadth mentioned above does not pride itself being part Of the Mithila.Traditional linguistic and regional discrimination are the main reason. The notion-Mithila has revolved around Darbhanga and its adjoining districts.Non-Brahmins though as much part of the culture and heritage ,are not showing desired Enthusiasm. Thankfully things are changing now. The response I have got from my MITHILA DARPAN initiative is overwhelming. This weekly Newspaper is going to be Published from the third week of August. I meet lot of people here and specially IPS and IAS officers who are from Bihar are literally making the Biharis known for their mettle here. I have good friends like Karuna Sagar IPS (Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic (I am making their website of traffic too check it http://www.cctp.org )who is the only officer in Tamil Nadu who has a fan mail and 5 years or so back he was hailed by Indian Express in the front page as "A Hero in Khaki from Bihar), Shakeel Akhter IPS (DCP Madurai ) who was recently in news for gunning down notorious terrorist Imam Ali in Bangalore and so many others. We always wonder why its happenning only in Bihar? Why people like us who leave bihar never come back and do something about it ? Why? After years of working outside I did go back to patna to start an Interior design school and an Animation and 3D modelling hi tech school but then I had to come back...its just not conducive to health my financial health I guess but I love bihar and I am working for it and some time soon I hope to start a Dhamaka website as we say in Patna where I am planning to give voice to the people all over the world for thier concerns about bihar.
