Low availability of job opportunities, shortage of electricity, good roads and rail linkages, inadaquate medical facilities and insufficient financial resources have so far kept villages unattractive for settling. I hope that through the new National Rural Policy being initiated by the UPA Govt., villages all over India would benefit and woud raise the viability of villages among the people there who tend to move away from these villages to the slums of Mumbai and Delhi for earning their bare livelihood, bereft of all human dignity and necessity. I plan to go back to work in my village in Mithila, as now I believe that there are possibilities of sustained development there. |

As many of you noticed before I let it lapse I had not updated the site in quite a while and really didn't have the time to implement the changes I had planned. | Comments: | I was pleased to see the comments of so many maithils. I agree with few of them who talked of being all inclusive while counting who is Maithil or otherwise. It for sure should not just be Maithil Brahmins but people from all casts/ religion, residing/ having resided in Mithila or who have a natural or otherwise love/ longing for Mithila or Maithily. I was particularly pleased to see some of my own villagers from Koilakh with their comments (I do not know them so far and would like to know about them) and one of my seniors- Bhartendu Das and his comments. My request is again to concur with some of suggestions already put forth- chat service, matrimonial service and regional chapters. I am not sure if we really want to revive Tirhutakshar as the script on this forum as few of the comments suggested but am really sure that the language Maithily should be encouraged. I have read a lot of publication from Harimohan Jha but have misplaced all the books. Does anyone know where to get these books like Khattak Kakak Tarang (I read it in Hindi from Rajkamal publication and could not get the Maithili version), Pranamya Devta and all of his books. I am interested in buying all the books written by HariMohan Jha and if anyone can help me with that- please! I am also getting tremendous demand for the Mithila paintings (on cloth) from my colleagues and friends in Mumbai. Does someone know an authentic place where we can get it at the production price and the order can be placed either on mail or phone?
