Comments:I first met Michael at Harvard University Summer School for high school students back in 1982. I think that's where he first started learning Chinese. We became fast friends.

I believe I may still have a few letters from him after he returned to New Jersey.

We both ended up going to Georgetown. He had a rented house in Glover Park and then lived in Copley with another acquaintance of mine, Kevin Kennedy.

Unfortunately, I lost touch with him. He was one of the kindest, friendliest, and most intelligent people I've met. RIP.

Comments:This past week, the Petriano's suffered a terrible loss. Mr. Petriano, Michael's Father passed away on July 26, 2005. He was a dear friend of my family for over 34 years. My Father and Mr. P were great buddies - for years they met every night at 5pm for cocktails. And on Friday's, they went to lunch with their friends - the ROMEO's - (Retired Old Men Eating Out). They all enjoyed their time together and will continue to celebrate Mr. Petriano as they raise their glasses in toast to him. Mr. P will always hold a special place in my heart. He was the best dressed gentleman I have ever met and and his love for his family was of true devotion. He told great stories, loved using 'certain' words and loved the Brooklyn Dodgers! I have such fond memories growing up across the street from the Petriano's and remember the day they moved in. And the first day that Larisa and I walked to Wilson School. A girl named Boodge, a car named Pig, and riding in the back seat of Mr. P's car holding on to Larisa for dear life!

At Mr. Petriano's wake, I was reminded of the everlasting love, memories and devotion that people have for him as well as for Michael. As I looked through Larisa's wedding album, I remembered sitting next to Michael at the reception and what a great time we had. There was nothing better than hearing Michael laugh and thinking about it makes me smile as I can picture it so vividly. I am also reminded of him coming to my wedding in October 2001. I was so glad that he was there! Nothing like sharing a day with old friends who are like family. I just thought of him the other day when I used the wedding gift he gave us - a beautiful Tiffany glass ice bucket that was engraved with our wedding invitaiton. Just like all of the Petriano's, everything was done with class.

I am also very late in writing this, but want to thank Michael for being my angel. The day of Michael's passing was the day my husband and I conceived our daughter through In Vitro Fertilization. May 2, 2003 will always be a day of remembrance for me because of Michael who brought us Joy.

I consider myself very fortunate to have known Michael for as long as I did. And I know that my parents are extremely fortunate to have had such good neighbors and lifelong friends as the Petrianos. Michael, thank you for being my angel. You are loved and remembered fondly by many. And your Father was also loved by many and will be missed as well. We are all so thankful that you and Michael are together again so you can finish all of your plans together. I know these past 3 years have been very difficult for the Petriano's and will continue to be even more so with the passing of Mr. P. Please keep them all in your prayers. XOXOXOXOXO to Larisa and Mrs. Petriano.

Comments:I'm actully shocked to come across this page because I knew Micheal. From 1990-1992, I worked at a Deli that he would frequent (many times daily). He remains one of the kindest and most interesting people that I've known. He'd speak so enthusiastically about his Russian typewriter, and Vietamese tones etc. Since attending college, my family moved away from NJ.

Yesterday, I came across a letter of his that he'd written while I was away in Ohio for college. That served as my impetus for looking for him today.

If any friends and family visit, please accept my belated sympathy. Mikey was a very special person.

Comments:I never knew Michael but Mrs. Petriano was my daughter's first grade teacher 7 years ago and she remains as one of our favorite teachers ever. When I heard about the passing of her son I always thought of doing something that would be meaningful to her and her family. I feel good to be able to make a donation for such a wonderful cause. Comments:I was recently forwarded a link to your site by a fellow Georgetown alum. I cannot say I was a close friend of Michael's, however, I had more than a passing interactions with him since we lived on the same floor in Copley dormitory. He was also a close friend of my roommate at the time. I heard of Michael's passing through a mutual friend and I was truly saddened. Michael was a very special man. Without a doubt one of the funniest and kindest people I met during my Georgetown years. I was not aware of his battle with mental illness. It is a testament to his will that he managed to be the source of such humor, kindness and creativity to so many around him despite his illness. Please send my deepest regrets to his family. However, please also let them know that Michael lives in our thoughts -- till this day my thoughts of him are the source of a chuckle when I remember his amazing sense of humor and gratitude when I remember his many kind words.

Please inlcude me in your foundation's email list so that I can be supportive, as well as continue to follow Michael's enduring impact on those of us who knew him.

Comments:Wow, I can not believe that it has been over a year since this sweet person was taken from us here. Michael, a childhood friend, was and always will be remembered as such warm down to earth person with a big smile, that I will always keep in my prayers. When we were younger our families always had alot of fun together! Whether it was Pizza on a Friday nights, Caroling in the back of my dads truck at Christmas in freezing temps, Playing a the P's or the Cardens house with Larisa & Michael, and bugging the heck out of the boys while they played with all Michael's Corgies, playing in the back woods and doing there boy things. What ever we were doing it was always fun when we were together, alot of laughs. I am sorry that we lost touch and did not grow up closer.
I just wanted you (Mr P, Mrs P & Larisa)to know that Michael may be gone but he lives on in so many peoples hearts. Keep up the great work that all of you have been doing, and you can count on my support in any way that you need!
Sorry for the rambling, just wanted Michael to know I was thinking of him!

I love you all!
