| Hi ya'll. From the records I have, I beleive that our branch of the family started in Pa. My four greats ago grandfather was Johannes Fredrich Stein, no info on where he was born. His son Henry was born on December 1,1783, in Pa. Henry appears to be one of the ones who changed the spelling.No reason was given for that. Henry married Elizabeth Gross and their oldest son Henry was born May 10th,1810, in Lincoln County,N.C. I have a pretty good list of the birthdates of Henry's siblings. It appears they were all born in N.C.If anyone needs further assistance or questions please contact me. | |

| I am from Florida but my grandparents were both born in NC. The lived in Elk park, Black Mountain, Sugar Mountain areas. I am not sure if you all are part of the stines family in which I am from or not. My grandmother was Annie Lucille Stines and my grandfather Raymond Stines. My great grandmother was Cleo Stines. My mother is Brenda Stines and I have three uncles Raymond Stines, Kenneth Stines, and Rodger Stines who has passed away. My grandmother was a Hester before she married. | i was looking for the other side of my family tree and happened upon the stines name. my grandfather was w.e. (wres) stines. he had a twin brother w.s. (wras)stines. supposedly the dr. who delivered them gave them their names. I believe they were born in the early 1900's in east. tennesse and later moved to asheville, nc. my grandfather settled in asheville, his twin wras moved to california.
my grandfather has been dead several years now but his wife is still alive and turns 97 this summer. |
