St Louis County Looking to find where the "Old folks home in this county was located. Also a cemetary called Potters Field where indigent people were buried.. Was told my gr grandfather was booted from his home in Pine County, Mn Finlayson/Sandstone area after his son's wife remarried after his son's death in 1918. He had to be at least 78 when Gustafson booted him out. My grandmothers new husbnd wanted him gone I was told. So he went to Duluth they said where he was put into an old folks home. No one had money to bury him and when he passed away. He was buried in what they called "Potters Field". I have looked all over for info on the home and burial cemetary to no avail. Everyone has passed that would know something about it. I would like to find where he is buried and his date of death. Doss anyone know if there records of people who were in the old folks home, and where this was Potters Field was located? Thanks Connie |

I find property deeded to her as his widow, in Feb. 1910, in 1907 when she came over she said she was going to Payne, MN. they had a child, a daughter and she gave her up when he died suddenly, I heard a tree fell on him, looking for an obit, or an exact marriage date, possibly late 1907 as she came over in Sep 1907 and I think the child I found on MN births, was theirs born Sep 1908, Elvira Edstrom.
Just looking for more clues, and has anyone heard of Payne? Paine, MN and are there any cemeteries near there? Tillie in 1910 is found as a servant in a Swedish home in Rice Lake, 1920 she is in Seattle, 1930, Los Angeles, always as a domestic, always without the child, what happened to her? thanks for this forum, Linda |

Looking for Fallon's of Duluth. I have several unidentified photos taken in Duluth about the turn of the century. My g-g-grandfather Matthew Fallon lived in Duluth at the time of his father's death in 1890. And I am soo saddend to find the 1890 census was destroyed. I know Matthew died in MN about 1911, but not sure of the location. Most likely Graceville, so I will continue the hunt! Good luck to all. |

Mom & Dad went to Denfield High School- I understand it was to be torn down. Mom's brother, Russell, worked for US steel. His wife, Rhoda, still lives in Duluth, and worked in the Catholic high school. I have many memories for Duluth. when I visit it feels like home. I love the water, lake Superior, the hills and the rock lined streets and the skyline. Grandpa Oscar also worked for US steel and was a member of the Swedish mens chorus. He had a beautiful voice, according to my Mom, and traveled with the chorus back to Sweden.
Our family lives in Michigan- not far from the waters of the Lakes that we love whether it's a Great lake or a little stream nearby.My home is in the woods on top of a hillwith many lakes & streams close byThat I love to drive along as I go or come home from work- a little bit of Heaven as Mom says. guess we remember our roots in Duluth. |

In my grandfathers obit in 1942 it says that he William Julius BERG and my grandmother Edna Isabelle GRAY were married in Duluth on the 30th of Oct 1930. This was her second marriage her married name was Retherford/Rutherford. I know in the 1930 census Edna is living in Superior , Douglas, WI.
