I'm having an issue with certain personages and institutions and they don't want to see truth on this sight. Life is good, truth is sweet. Remember the protest we had and everybody bolted the building. I still remember the expressions of disbelief on some people's faces. That sort of expression is good for the soul and is liberating. Children and young people if they were so instructed, would not believe the power and influence they actually have. They'll learn. Eight years to 40th reunion, I hope I'm here. What is the one thing in life that no parent tolerates regardless of the age of their child. Thats where I'm at. |

I finally, healed from my last surgery and am now studying to do income tax preparations. All that knew how much math was a struggle for me will be amazed. I will be working again in December. I have not worked in 8 years and I am so excited! Many of you know my Dad and some know my mom and they are alive and well in Las Cruces, New Mexico. My sister Patricia is in Kentucky, and I am still here in Sioux City Iowa. Things are looking up for me and I hope that this finds all of you well. Chad and all, Thank You so much for letting Daphne know that she has been on my mind. I miss school, I wish that I could go back as the person I am now. I think you would all see a difference and really enjoy the person I have become. I am still not the athlete type but I have come out of my shell and learned to love and take care of myself. I guess my friend Carla Mead is still in Craig and she is working at the Air Port in Steamboat Springs. I have lost touch with so many. I know some of us could have done without seeing our cheesy pics on our nametags though! :) For a bunch of people nearing the big "40", everybody looked just great. And it was quite a surprise to see so many other young kids, I thought Jill and I would be so out of place with our 2 year old and 8 month old. I guess we're not the only crazy ones.

| Comments: | Hey guys I just thought to write in and say hello since it's been a few years. I live in DC with Brian Koran who works as Army intel, so we move a ton but I miss Colorado like hell. Hopefully in 2 years we will return to that home state.
If you remember Rachel Renee Runyun the anniversary of her death was just this month. Her family would appreciate contact from her classmates I am sure, if you ever get a moment and feel like a conversation with her sister (in Grand Junction) or mother (in Craig I believe). I wonder how many of us will show up to any reunion? I am eager to see where our lives have taken us after school, for I think we can all agree MoCo High hardly prepared us for the real world eh? Small towns with hardly any crime, it was bliss. Just last month while holding my toddler in my arms we saw a woman with her infant mugged at gunpoint near the playground. Our GPS was stolen from our car, someone walked into our house while I was home thinking to rob us because they expected us to be at work that day! I won't even get into the drugs, assault, or murder I've seen or been involved with but let's just say... anyone who knows what "Rock bokka bokka Springs" and the Astro is like? Well ... don't let your friends go to that city. I almost lost my best friend, Sam Lincoln style ( http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_4627495 yeah we knew that guy, and everything the story did not tell you about) Maybe one day they will put a course into High Schools for crisis management? Who needs to know math when all you want to know is the phone number for the local abuse or homeless shelter, or how to afford feeding your family. Maybe even where to run when you get into too much trouble. That should be required coursework in my opinion. I used to hate my life in high school and when I look back I think I blame how utterly boring it was, but graduation is a liberation to excitement and the real world is indeed a violent and prosperous affair meant to be harnessed and used for all it's worth. Make something of yourself, each and every one of you. It's never too late to leave an impact on the world. |

Checking in with my yearly update. Life is good here. I've been taking photography classes this summer and am loving it. I am hoping to have my own business up and running soon. My youngest (Heather) will be a junior this year, she was thrilled (LOL) when I was hired to be the junior class advisor. My son (Joshua) just graduated from college in May and decided to go back for forestry this fall. He is engaged and getting married next June. I've started telling people I was 10 when I had him. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone by. It's been a couple of years since I've been home to Craig but I think of it often and all of the wonderful people I grew up with. My grandmother passed away last January at 89 years old and I now know it can be a tough loss even when someone has had a long, full life. I still live in Fairfax, VA (DC suburb) and am in my second year of a PhD program. For some reason, I can't stop going to school! I may have an opportunity to teach undergrads soon, so that will be a nice change. I've been married for 15 years and my kids are now 14 and 12. It amazes me that I have a teenager because it doesn't seem I could possibly be that old. I'm disappointed I missed the 20th reunion; from the photos, it looked like a good time. I hope to see everyone in a few years for the 25th! |

As you can see by my name - I married that Jay Updike - learned a hard lesson and moved on (got the best part of him, my son Justin). Married Travis Goodwin in 2000 - got the best of him too, my daughter Jordan. Am now a single mom, dating a great, gorgeous guy, working with juvenile deliquents(I know the tricks of the trade all too well..) and just sent Justin away to diesel mechanics school in Wyoming. Life does fly by doesn't it. We need to get working on our reunion - can't wait to see everyone and catch up with how life's been treating everyone. I'm fortunate & have beautiful kids.
