Hey,
just got the chance to re-read all your wet moon work (´cause I´m on vacation, yay).
Never realized how cute your artwork of Meiko is, I used to focus on the beautiful girls...
I love how you depict that cat, especially when she throws some of her foot in her waterbowl and watches it bloat up end float...
Anyways, thank you for making me happy with your simply amazing and smokin´hot artwork, love every page..
Greetings from Germany,
Silvia

Hey Mr. Ross!
I haven't looked at your website in a long time, I was thrilled to see my old fan art from before the first wet moon even came out up in your fan art section. Makes me feel super appreciated as a fan. I have all of Wet Moon, The Abandoned, Water Baby, and Shadow Eyes. I have loved your work before it was available in my local comic shops. It helped me shape my own style HEAVILY.
I remember we used to talk a bit on dA, I just started my dA up again, I will try to be on there more now.
By the way did you know there is a coffee shop in my town that is called Burial Grounds? Mara, the owner named it after Cleo's workplace. When I first met her, I asked her about the reference, she was floored that I got it.
I hang out there pretty often now.
Anyhow, its amazing to see how far you came as an artist and how successful you are now. I am so glad to have been your fan long enough to see the progress of your career blossom into something HUGE.
Cheers Ross!

Wet Moon is wonderfully done. It reminds me of my university days in the late 90'S. If you could've canned life back then and printed it Wet Moon would be it..! The alt culture refs are greatthe very 90's, love it! Thank you Ross Campbell. Bought 1-5 waiting for 6 totaly worth my wife being mad at me. Among other things, the whole Tribly/Martin thing is too cute. I hope Trilby makes it and at least they have a happily ever after.

Hi there, greetings from Belgium! I just got around to reading the two first novels from your Wet Moon series. I really enjoyed them! Liked the art, loved the characters and I'm so curious about all the mystery that is only really slowly uncovered. Some of the best graphic novels I've ever read, and that's saying a lot.
I'll get around to read the rest of them. I do find it a pity you had to chance the art style, but after going through you FAQ, I understand. Still, it's a shame.

You are obviously a talented artist. Keep it up!

http://mintertweed.com/ Question. How do I get in contact with Ross Campbell? I am currently working on my first graphic novel and I would like to know how to get publishers interested. I can talk to Ross Campbell more about it, at length, over email. Also, does Ross Campbell ever attend DragonCon in Atlanta? I live in the greater Atlanta area. I also attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). When I was still in high school, my graphic arts class took a trip to SCAD and I actually saw one of Ross Campbell's pieces on display. My teacher said that it looked like something I would draw. I believe there was a body folded up in the frames of a wall. Anywho, I would like to talk about several things that are not discussed in your "Frequently Asked Questions," if Ross Campbell has the time, which I understand is limited at the moment. Later!

I went to school for a year at SCAD in savannah Georgia, and than transferred to SVA in NYC majoring in comics for both. I can say, you are one of my top favorite comic artists and a huge inspiration. I also always wondered if the setting for wet moon had anything to do with Savannah GA, there was too much in common for it not to be. I look forward to more books in the future! I love them!

Hey man, no idea who you are and I'd never heard of you before this morning, but I just read Water Baby at the local library and that's some damn good writing. Strong but subtle. It's now several hours later and I'm still thinking about the story, and wondering about certain scenes. I like when comic book writers are smarter than me. Hope to join your ranks someday.

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1151915015 Hello!

I am hoping I really do speak to Ross Campbell and you'll receive my words :D I am from Poland and I've seen Wet Moon art on deviantArt. And since then I am trying to get this comic book anywhere. It's not released it Poland and it's too expensive for me to get one from U.S.A.. Hopefully I'll find at least one copy in United Kingdom :D I am really determined to purchase this book :D I really love the way it's drew and the story in it :D Keep your fingers crossed I'll get my copy ;)
You do great work and I'd love to have all of your works and stuff :D
Cheers!

Ross! Bella Morte is playing in Ithaca tomorrow night at 9pm. I'm thinking about going, unless I have to go to Keuka Lake. But even so, I could just drive back to the cottage after the show, it's only an hour away from Ithaca. Are you going? Give me a call.

Tell your mom I said hi. I miss her :)

Yours truly,
Carlie

i have always loved your art. the way you draw women is just so empowering. your art is not of size 0 women with plastic smiles and unobtainable figures. you show that you can be bald, curvy, ir have spikes comimg out of your back and still be sexy. Thank you for making us women with a little junk in the trunk and a dark side feel beautiful!

p.s. I would love to buy a print of eight moments from the ring of shadows. it is my favorite of yours

I really like Wet Moon. Really feels like it's going somewhere. Really like the moments where the characters just get there time to be real people. With there personal obsessions and even the small talk in the book just goes so far at filling up the universe and I haven't gotten to know a town so well since twin peaks. A lot of those moments have a lot of heart and each moment resonates with me. So thank you for your very unique series. :)

Ross,

I walked into the comic shop downtown Chicago in The Loop for the first time. I randomly picked up volume 5 of Wet Moon. As soon as I got home I went online and bought the other 4. They came in descending order; so, I worked backwards! Point being, I love them all! I wish I was born with talent. Hope I get to see 6 soon.

http://www.jngaio.com I was a big fan of yours many years ago on deviantart, so I was surprised and excited to discover Wet Moon for sale at a comic shop here in Melbourne, Australia.

I got my grubby paws on book 1 and I have to say it is just outstanding. I love the picture you depict of what it's like to be a young, angsty female - I love the way you illustrate women - I love how gorgeous Cleo but in an unconventional way. It makes this short, slightly chubby girl feel happy to see a body like her own depicted in such a sensitive, gorgeous manner.

I love the details in your illustration, the sensitivity in your line and your painted renderings are just something else altogether. I love it when I buy a comic book and it feels like a really special piece of artwork. I got this feeling while reading Wet Moon. Congratulations on creating something so awesome and inspiring!

i commented a little while back about how empowering your female characters are . . . my husband gave me wet moon 2-5, water baby, and the abandoned (why is that so hard to find in stores??) for christmas. i read them all in 2 days. i wanted to savor them, but i had to devour them all. wet moon, especially. it's like my new fav TV show but in book format. you really did an excellent job of making everyone so real. i love how everyone has a deformity, whether it's physical, emotional, or mental. i love how you're so open and accepting of gay lifestyles and feminism. (and all the bands you mention in posters or tiny buttons on messenger bags--spot on!) the journal entries remind me of my own in college (cleo especially) and i even pulled my new journal out to add some things . . . it's been so long since i'd written in it.

thank you for writing back. you must be so busy, and i really appreciate it. you asked if i had an online gallery . . . i don't really, but i do have some scans of some of my stuff that i could put up on myspace. i've seen you on there, so when i post them, i'll bother you with a friend request. : P

all in all, you are inspiring. i think i said that last time. well, you are. i look to the girls of wet moon for outfit and hairstyle ideas, hell, i even briefly wanted to join a local softball team! don't think i have time for one, but the idea sounded fun. or maybe i am completely gullible.

anyway, can't wait for wet moon #6. the ending of #5 left my brain in knots. i need resolution!

I must say that you do have great taste in our mind of art for i have seen so much of power that no one can understand or use as a simple gift but to create something not of contrast. pleas i would like to learn more of drawing in place for i have no talent of bringing my mind to life.

Hello Ross,

I ordered Wet Moon 1&2 at my local Borders and I'm still waiting for the email that says it has come in after a week of anxious waiting. D:

I hope it comes today. As much as I love your art on DeviantArt, I can't wait to start following your stories.

got the abandoned last year for x-mas. loved it. got Wet Moon 1-3 recently at my local comics shop. I'm really glad to have picked these up due to the fact that it has reinvigorated my interest in comics, since 99.9% of the stuff from the big 2 publishers is crap lately. Keep up the good work.
It would be really awesome to see you at the Pittsburgh comic-con sometime!

Hi.. (just fan mail)
Okay, uhm..
Well in November I bought a copy of WM4, and like it’s written at the back cover, it really is the best volume yet!! (Actually, I got the sweetest comic guy I always talk with, to open the boxes with new stuff so I could get WT4 even before it really was on sale in Denmark! Oh, I’m such a nerd.)
I... I can't really understand all the freaky thing that has happened since I started reading WM a very long time ago, and you know, I have waited like, 6 month for Wet Moon 4, and now I have to wait a whole year to know what is gonna happen with Natalie & Myrtle, Cleo & Mara, and Trilby and Malady and.. argh..
I think I just wanna appreciate your very hard work.. and now apologize for my very bad english! (I’m sorry, I’m a dangerous alcoholic Viking, and I dropped outta school a year ago.. so stupid, so true.)
Well.. I really wanna read all your stuff, of course! But I just can't effort it! (And, it's like the 'editors' or whatever, won't let The Abandoned to Denmark! I swear, my local comic shop has tried the get them, for like 4 month for me, but they just doesn't show up! And I have gived the comic-guys my e-mail and everything so they can contact me when they get it and shit.. And I've been down there, least twice a month to ask if they got any new Ross Campbell stuff! By now they call me 'The Ross Campbell girl' or 'The Girl Who Likes Ross Campbell's stuff'! It actually sounds pretty gross..
In fact, I’m not a comic-girl.. I'm more of a Rimbaud/Bukowski/Harold & Maude/John Irving/ Mercury/Bowie/Mozart/whatever kind of girl! :D Just with ‘weird’ clothes, undercuts and piercings.. heh.. Nerd and yeah, lesbian! xD whoa..
But well, I wanna read more comics I just can't fucking effort it! I read your stuff, and some Roman Dirge and Don Rosa.. and that's it! I really wanted to read you know.. like: From Hell, V for Vendetta, Sin City.. arghh.. that stuff!
But I'm sure you know the feeling:
You stand at the grocery store: What are you gonna choose? Well you can choose between food or toilet paper.. or maybe just buy some cigarettes and try to go into a coma!
I dunno it's.. now I'm writing to Ross Campbell about being poor! xD
Well, I know I've written to you before, twice, but don't freak, I'm not a crazy stalker! I don't think I could be a crazy stalker if I wanted to..? And I have never been in the US and I don't think I have the guts.. bet I would be raped & tortured in a dark ally 7 minutes after I arrived.. heh.. I really don't know anything about america.. Oh yeah, I know you just got Obama for president! Gongrats! That's really great! And you know, it's soo annoying that when America is gonna have a new president the whole world shall know about it? I mean, I don't think there was anything else in the news for about 3 month.. but well, that is not your fault, so I don't know why I tell you this..? I must be a pain in the ass.. so, I will leave you now, think I will get a cigarette and maybe watch a episode of The Young Ones.. :)
You're awesome, okay? Your drawings are amazing! And I don't fucking care how big Cleo's eyes are, it looks awesome anyway, and I read it for the great story! :D
Cheers!

Kjerstine (This is how I think I can explain how my name is pronounced) --> [Kéyaeh-steen-ö]
Heh.. have fun!! Cheers!

I reluctantly went to the comics store with the hubby tonight after having several conversations with him about the reasons why *more* women do not read comic books. In the middle of the store on a rotating stand, Wet Moon vol. 4 stared at me, and I stared at it.

Never have I seen such a diverse, beautifully flawed, attractive set of characters. Thank you for representing EVERYONE, not just the conventional, the acceptable and the predictable. I think I will read more comics now.

http://www.elcrudo.com I just devoured Water Baby.
The artwork is first rate. I really got into the characters, too: Brody + Luisa = 21st century Hopey & Maggie...you meant that, right?

I have to say, as 'sexy' as you drew the girls, when i found out the book was sposed to be marketed TO teenage girls, i was sorta like...HUH?!? I'm glad you addressed it in that online interview.

BTW: WTF's up w/ Mario Van Peeble's cameo??? That is so totally random...is that some joke? did you do that as a dare? are you guys buddies? i can't get over that.

well, i'm off to pick up wet moon.
Keep it real-

i love your work, dont get me wrong... but reading wet moon 4 i realized that all your characters have become almost cartoonized. its awesome that you are finding out more and more about your characters and new style and all but i feel like i'm missing the original style that i fell in love with.

http://social.zune.net/profile/member.aspx?tag=Ce55p00l It seems my vocabulary still isn't large enough because i have yet to find the right word to describe how amazingly talented your are or how beautiful your work is. I read the abandoned probably.. twice a month just because i really can't get enough, So when i have time for my own personal reading thats one of the things i have to read again. It sucks there be no more of riley though.

luckily theres still wet moon though. ftw. Soon ill be reading the 4th book from that series. School has me pretty busy so i couldn't read it sooner..ugh..school but ya i digress keep up the good work.. Please! Your characters make me feel at home with myself.

Hey there. You we're and continue to be such an inspiration to me, your art is what tought me to be myself, it tought me that it was okay to be different. i could really relate to some of the characters in the Wet Moon series. This was a big part of my teenagedom and i was wondering if you wouldnt mind me actually...tattooing a character or two or.. some sort of collaboration between your fantasy characters and the wet moon characters. I dont know how else to contact you besides...via this- sorry im so noob. Anyway i was wondering if you would give me that premmission, and perhaps help me design a tattoo? This would of course be payed.. but yes get back to me please :)!
