Comments:Hey great news about Clough!
I can see Burton Albion being another
Wycombe! I do think we need look at our defence
a little bit although. Last season Doncaster
got religated and lots of there good players
had their contracts terminated, and our still looking for
new teams, so I think Albion ought to be looking out for
these ones. Esdaille is a brilliant young defender from
Doncaster, Messer, a 17 year old striker from Doncaster,
Pell another teenage striker, Hilton a strong 18 year old
defender, Hawthorne another good 18 year old defender and
Tedaldi who is only 17 years old, but a brilliant midfielder
who has great impact on the game as well as Ramsey another
young midfielder. I have done my homework on these players
and they have all left Doncaster and seek new Clubs, and
some of of them would fit in well at Albion, particulary
Hawthorne and Tedaldi!

I had the great pleasure of playing alongside him(and his

70's and would like to know if anyone is out there on the

And yes, wasn't it ironic that we were pegged back to 2-2 after leading 2-0 at half-time only to grab a winner - when later on the shoddy real reds were whupped 5-2 having led 2-1 at half-time. Thought I'd mention that before you did!

Calling from Oz....great webpage lots of info.....I'm a pom
who has been living in Oz for the past 8 years and heavily
active in football in local area. I'm also an active referee
in our area soccer League and involved with representative
youth soccer teams as well as seniors from the Tamworth area
in New South Wales. Have in the last 2 years organised tours
to UK and Europe for 16/17 years rep teams and are looking
into touring at senior level. What are the chances of
arranging games at youth as well as senior level when we
tour in the future? Our next tour is planned for Easter 99
for 16/17 youth and possibly senior as well. We would also
like to encourage reciprocal tours to Oz to include our area
where we would host team members during the stay and
organise hosts or budget accommodation in the other areas.

Look forward to your reply.....

See you all next season, I'm sure it's gonna be a very

got two right wingers (Mike Wyatt & Darren Keeling) and a
left winger (Tony Hemmings), a 30 goal striker (Andy
Mainwaring), a striker who gets booked more often than he
scores goals! (Adie Mings, but we still love him!) and we
might be signing Neil Smith (ex-scum, Ru$hden and
Hednesford). I fancy our chances (again!), who do you think

Comments:It's good to see a web site devoted to what is after all a small football club. Having said that, a certain Premiership teams, yes I do mean Man U's, official home page could learn a thing or two!

Although I haven't been to Eton Park for a good few years now, I always look for the results. I believe that this season has been viewed as disappointing in that it was expected that the Albion would be challenging for a Conference place. To have achieved the equal highest position ever is something to be proud of and to build on next season. The answer is to develop a level of consistency, which can only come with time and effort and experience. I say well done for 1997-1998 and here's to 1998-1999!

why dont they enter the welsh league)

Sorry about the pitch, but if you'd seen it on Friday you would have thought we'd never play on it again this season!
I hope you don't mind me borrowing a few extracts for our next programme - it is rare that we get the view from the opposition.

Saw the comments by the Dorchester fan on their bit, and yes
we are in a lower league than them so I won't stoop to
calling them scum ???. They can gloat at the moment, enjoy
your 5 minutes, but it won't be long ??? before we are back.
The DM Southern is driving me potty with all these tin sheds
we have to visit. Still get 800 to 1000 at home and things
are at last on the up. Last time we went to Burton was the
last game of the season when we got relegated about 5 years
ago. Absolute blinding time, thoroughly pissed enjoyed a
supporters game and your end of season prizegiving and left
at about 10pm, totally out of it. Some of you may remember
this as you gave us such good hospitality, hopefully we can
return the compliment next season, but there are still a few
more wins needed.

supporters have always been tremendous to me, and I can
certainly understand their disapointment if we fail to reach
the Conference. At the end of the day we will only have
ourselves to blame if we miss out. Undoubtedly, many people
will pay the price in the summer if this is the case.

Simon, and it sure was boring- it was too hot to play
football really and the only exciting thing to happen was
David Holmes injuring himself in his first match at Eton
Park, having just signed for £8,500. As for Kidderminster,
is Graham Allner STILL in charge down there.Maybe he's past
his sell-by date, as he seems to have been there for
decades. (Although you can't complain about his record over
the years.) Sorry to say this but I have to say I hope you
do get relegated, along with Telford, as these will make for
much more interesting away trips for us than Rothwell or
whichever other pub team gets promoted this season!

play good attacking football, too attacking, as our
appauling goals against record shows.

Comments:Re: Gloucester defeat
The report on the above said game reflects the majority of
Brewers fans, now is the time for change. In the words of
the Bradford chairman commenting on the departure of C.
Kamara " he has taken the club as far as he could", nothing
could mirror the current management at Burton.
The defeat on Tuesday was nothing new to Albion fans,
little motivation, skill, commitment (Garner I mean you)
and leadership. As for tactics do we have training sessions.
John Barton's time is up, if we are to progress changes
have to be made. Andy King ex-mansfield boss is the current
talk of the popside, is this correct?

Anyway why should I complain, after all the hype of success
and conference status over the years, all that seems to be
delivered is failure. Why change a habit of a lifetime!!

Anyway at least we can pay the players wages !!

When your crappy team gets relegated which it surely will or

there is nothing else to do in Burton. When you have been in

A great site, well done! I have been off-line for about a
month or so so that is why I haven't been in touch. I have
now adapted my site to incorporate the Supporters Club. In
the programme over Christmas I am looking to do a piece on
albion Web sites so with your permission I would like to
feature yours. Also when I get round to updating my site I
will put a link on it to this site and if you could do the
same that would be great. Is the story about the Halesowen
game true ( I can't believe anyone could make that up)and
if so could I use it in the programme?

The best way to access my site is to use the Alta Vista
search engine and type in 'Burton Albion Supporters Club'
and it is there at the top.

If you have chance on saturday come and see me and we'll
have a chat

Cheers for now
