| Comments: | Hi everyone,
I'm doing my family tree and was wondering if you can help me on any info/photos on this person. I was told that a relative of mine played for Moseley's Rugby Team. His name is Michael J. Baverstock born Oct Qtr 1939 we think in Birmingham. His parents names are Dorothy Peters and Arthur W.G. Baverstock. I don't know much about him, all I know he had a very bad injury from playing Rugby which left him paralysed. Is there anyone who can help me? Look forward to hearing from you Thank you Sam |

Doncaster v Moseley Third placed Doncaster Knights entertain second bottom Moseley at home looking to continue their winning run. Doncaster are looking to make it three wins on the bounce with a home win after a run of just one win in four matches which saw them fall of the pace. Moseley are just two points behind Otley and safety in the National One league table although the Yorkshire side do have a match in hand. They are at the wrong end of the Form Guide with just one win in their last six matches. When the sides met at Moseley earlier in the season the home side were beaten 22-0 by Doncaster. Prediction: Home win for the Knights by 15. |

| Comments: | I have been a armchair rugby fan for a few years now but I could never get my son to sit and watch with me but this year at school he gets to do games with a Mr Thomas at his school Grendon Primary and he knew the said Mr Thomas plays for Moseley so I thought to myself that a trip to see Mosley would be a plan to get him watch the game so last weekend we came to watch the game against Waterloo and what a game it was I couldn’t of hoped for a better game to take him to from now on I think I will be seeing a lot more rugby because both of us can’t wait till the next home game I think you will have trouble getting us to stay away. Not only did the team play well but also we met a lot of friendly people who we chatted with. I couldn’t have had a better day well unless it was a little warmer. |

| Comments: | One of the best performances since the leagues were introduced for the sheer will to win attitude in the second half. I also thought Mose looked markedly fitter and much more likely to score again as the game closed out, despite the last minute panic under our posts. With 15 players I thought we'd have been fairly comfortable winners, just getting into gear when Buxton was sent off.
And finally, Moseley's try would have graced the highest level, an absolutely stunning effort from their own 22 - worthy of the admission price alone. |

| Comments: | A truly wonderful result. When you see our boys not only giving everything but playing intelligently with only 14 men it reminds us all what a great bunch of players we have.
Thomas controlled matters much better in the second half and the immortal 7 where a barrier which would'nt be broken. Saw what happened with Buxton. He let himself and the team down. It was a disgusting thing to do and could have seriously injured the blind side. Similiar to Dodi Weirs injury on the 97 Lions. Lets finish it off now lads! |

| Comments: | 3rd game I have been to at Billesley this season and easily the most exciting for a neutral.
Missed the first half cos I thought your matches started at 3pm But no one taking money on the gate so I guess that's a fivers worth of raffle tickets I owe you! Stood at the wrong end of the ground as most of the play was down the clubhouse end which was amazing considering you were down to 14 against the Nat. 2 heavyweights. From what I have seen watching most of the division play at either Billesley, Stourton or Blundellsands, Moseley look the best of the bunch for skill, speed and agility and should be promoted. But the fun of Nat 2 is that on their day any team can beat anyone so no easy rides. As an aside thought the layout of the catering for this match was much better with hot drink seperated from your kitchen.Didn't miss any of the game whilst in the queue. Hope to see you again soon |

| Comments: | What a great game - one of the best I've ever seen for sheer excitement and commitment. The defence in the second half was immense. When Waterloo scored their try most supporters must have feared the worst. But the team - and the fans - responded brilliantly. I reckon the second half was worth eight points - our 4-1 points margin could potentially have been 5-0 to Waterloo. The amazing thing was that, despite being a man short, our scrum held up and we still looked more dangerous than Loo with ball in hand. Well done players, coaches - and fans with some rousing "Moseley, Moseley" chants. |

| Comments: | Fanatastic entertainment.Delighted to see that the crowd stayed in the stand to cheer the team.It should happen every week.
Only dark point was the sending off of Ben Buxton.Couldn't see what happened but if it was for deliberate stamping then the club need to take immediate action.Ben's had several yellow cards and must be getting a reputation which opposing sides will try and take advantage of. We could have run out comfortable winners if he hadn't lost his head. |

| Comments: | Fantastic result! Extremely proud of the team. The defence in the second half was outstanding. Desperate stuff at times but the forwards were immense. Caves made a difference when he came on, stemmed the tide against the assault of the Waterloo loose head. Couldn't really see the offence which led to Buxton's sending off but generally I thought the ref was poor. Unlike the crowd who really got behind the team. Great response at the final whistle. |

Smith: It's just another game Jan 20 2006 By Roger Clarke, Birmingham Mail TO the fans it is probably the biggest match since Moseley's glory days at The Reddings. Moseley, second in National Two, welcome leaders Waterloo to their new home at Billesley Common. To coach Ian Smith, though, "it is a home game in the league against a form side". Smith continued: "You have to break a game like this down into what it is. "Yes, Waterloo are a form side but that form side could be fifth or sixth or seventh. "I think we all appreciate where they are in the table and where we are but if you get too carried away with that then you lose focus a little bit. "Games of this stature often come down to being very simple and very effective." Smith is treating this like any other match. The players have been given DVDs of their opponents to study and will discuss their dangermen, tactics and how to combat them at training. Moseley have a few forward problems going into the match with powerhouse flanker Neil Mason suffering with a dead-leg and prop Ben Buxton is unwell. Centre Paul Cox will be out for three weeks with ankle ligament damage. Smith, though, is confident that Moseley now have the strength in depth to cope with injuries and has people who can come in. "Tom McIntosh (back-row) is back to fitness again; Tom Warren (flanker) trained last night although he would not be ready for this week, then there is Charlie Daniell. "There are many options - players who are busting a gut to get into the side. "When Adam Caves (hooker) was knocked for six earlier in the season Dean Bick came in and look what happened?" What happened was that Bick became a veritable try machine, the club's leading scorer, who reached double figures with his 10th league try of the season in the 29-24 win at Blackheath last week. Smith said: "Sport is all about opportunity and it is either taken or it is lost." Moseley won the match at Blundellsands at the start of the season 37-31 - Waterloo's only defeat so far - and, although five points adrift, have a game in hand on the Liverpool sid |

| Comments: | Caves injury blow for Moseley Nov 25 2003
Evening Mail Moseley are likely to be without Adam Caves for a fortnight after the hooker suffered a knee injury against Stourbridge. Caves lasted only 15 minutes before being carried off at Stourton after receiving a blow on the side of the knee. And the former Gloucester man looks likely to miss this Saturday's game against Rugby and next week's trip to Doncaster. Director of rugby John Beale admitted: "Losing Adam is another blow from what was a very disappointing day for us. "He'll be out for the best part of two weeks." The club are likely to go into Saturday's visit of Rugby Lions - another side relegated from National One last season - with Dean Bick at hooker. Bick played the bulk of the game on Saturday as a replacement for Caves, although on-loan prop Alan Low is another option as the club have been working on his line-out throwing in case such an injury arose. Moseley had received some good news in the front row with prop Ben Buxton fit enough to last 80 minutes against Stourbridge after a season blighted by knee injuries, and Paul Coles not too far behind after some second team action. Beale and player-coach Steve Ojomoh will be hoping that flanker David Hunt recovers from a back injury in time for Saturday, although the fragility of the Mose pack may force changes in any case. Second row Alex Hadley's comparatively strong showing as a late replacement on Saturday may result in a recall, particularly as current locks Charlie Daniell and Mark Evans are both equally at home in the back row. Luckily for Moseley, the Lions are also struggling to readjust to life at a lower level and lie just below them on points difference. |

The club is delighted to announce the signing of Steve Ojomoh and warmly him to Moseley. John Beale's full comments can be found in the news section of www.moseleyrugby.co.uk and profiles of next seasons squads can be found on the MoseleyFan site. http://uk.geocities.com/moseleyfan/playersjul03.html Here is part of John Beale's announcement: "The signing of Steve will give the whole Club a huge boost. He has a massive standing in the game, being well respected internationally as both a person and as a player. He comes with an excellent report from our spies in Wales, where he played the whole season for Newport. Prior to Newport, Steve played for Bath and Gloucester where he earned his 12 England Caps. Steve will bring a professional edge to the side that was lacking at times last season. He will lead the coaching, and be supported by Derek Nutt and the rest of our coaching staff who worked so hard last season. I hope that our recruitment of Steve will be seen by everyone as a signal that we mean to succeed in National 2 next season." John Beale, Director of Rugby |

| Comments: | Premier Rugby release 2003/04 fixtures 02/04/03
Premiership to continue through RWC 2003 Premier Rugby has released a draft of the Zurich Premiership fixtures for the 2003/04 season, with the English domestic season starting on September 13 and culminating with the Zurich Premiership Final on Saturday, May 29, 2004. The Zurich Premiership will continue during October and November despite the fact that the Rugby World Cup will be taking place in that period in Australia. There will also be no change to the points scoring system during the Rugby World Cup so the scoring will remain the same as this season - four points for a win, two points for a draw and bonus points for scoring four tries or more and losing by seven points or less. Clubs will play each other once during the first 11 rounds of the Zurich Premiership (which are played during the Rugby World Cup) and once during the 11 rounds played after the Rugby World Cup. “Both the Premier Rugby and England Rugby Boards voted to play the Zurich Premiership during the Rugby World Cup,” said Howard Thomas, Chief Executive of Premier Rugby. “There will be massive interest in rugby during this period and Premiership rugby will be the only outlet for people to experience live, thrilling professional rugby union in this country, and we anticipate continued growth of the club game during this time. “The Zurich Premiership remains unchanged from this season - a 22-round league system with a top three play off finale to determine the champions. The structure offers the Directors of Rugby an exciting challenge - the first half of the season will offer the younger, future generation of players a chance to shine whilst the second half, when the Internationals return to action, will provide a gripping climax as all 12 clubs strive for a place in the Zurich Premiership Final." The Premiership clubs will enter the Powergen Cup as usual at the Round Six stage (15th November) and ERC have already confirmed the dates for the European competitions. Premier Rugby also confirmed that promotion and relegation will take place at the end of the season, with the winner of National Division One promoted to the Zurich Premiership in place of the team which finishes bottom of the table this term. |

| Comments: | Today's Evening Mail:
Moseley cling to safety line Mar 18 2003 By Richard Jackson, Evening Mail Relegation-haunted Moseley have been handed a couple of favours by the fixture calendar - although they may need them after failing to beat Coventry last weekend. Saturday's chaotic 60-40 defeat at Coventry leaves the club seven points behind Manchester and safety. But, unusually, Manchester end their season a week before Moseley when they entertain the Birmingham side. So John Beale's men could go into their 'bonus' April 26 game against Exeter with a chance of survival. Normally, that would be the toughest of National League One encounters but Exeter's trip to Bournbrook will be their fifth game in two weeks after postponements and Cup commitments. What effect that will have on the Devon side physically is anybody's guess but Moseley have to cling to anything they can at present. Director of playing Beale said: "If we can pick up points at Otley and Manchester, it may give us everything to play for on the final day of the season." The failure to beat Coventry has obviously damaged Moseley's hopes of catching Manchester but not irreparably, according to the club. "We always knew we had to beat Otley or Coventry as well as Manchester," said Beale. "Now it just means we have to beat Otley, so there is still a chance." Meanwhile, Rob Mourino could be fit enough to play in this Sunday's game against Worcester. The back row forward - who has only played twice this year as a replacement - suffered complications as he recovered from a knee problem but is now nearing full fitness. |

| Comments: | Criminal Cov Toy with Moseley Mar 17 2003
Coventry 60 Moseley 40 By Michael Blair, Birmingham Post Rugby matches do not come much dafter than this. One hundred points at Coundon Road on Saturday and not only did the winners score 60 of them, they contributed directly to 33 of the remainder. Rarely can a side have come away with as much profit as Moseley and given so little for it. Their merit was almost entirely in their lawfulness. Coventry were simply criminal and they are laughing all the way to the slammer. A few seconds before the end of ordinary time, with Coventry throwing the ball around like monkeys at a bazaar, Andy Binns intercepted them and ran to the posts for a try that Stephen Nutt converted. And this was the only score that Moseley made all afternoon that was not penalty-related. That was how badly Coventry got on with Mr Wilson, the referee. It was, as a result, a mess of a match and to lose it as comprehensively as Moseley did added up to one of the worst in a long line of bad results. They needed to win this one if they were to stand any chance of avoiding relegation but their circumstances have never looked bleaker and those of a charitable bent concluded that perhaps a spell in a lower division might do them some good. Moseley need to regroup. They need to know where they are going. Here they were simply bereft. Coventry will no doubt celebrate the fact that they have come off a bad run and will look at their new coaching set-up as the cause. They scored some snappy tries. But you can’t play a proper rugby match with as bad a sense of discipline as Mr Wilson pointed to here and perhaps homework this week will be based on learning the laws. A weird afternoon, to be sure. Last week mud, this week dust. The sun blazed its rays on the old heap that is soon to be a memory and the sprinters prayed for the ball. What excuse could there be for not throwing it around on a day like this? Unless, of course, Coventry had it in mind to offer a symbolic tribute to their patron, Harry Walker, whose 88th birthday was being celebrated. Harry used to favour a more dour view of the game. Coventry’s opening statement was more Jackson than Walker. Kurt Johnson caught the kickoff, ran the ball to halfway and Moseley were stretched to stop Julian Horrobin, who took the inside pass. They could do nothing when Johnson next felt the ball. Coventry ran from deep again, Curtis came into the move, then Simon Martin and Johnson just purred on to the overlap. A great start but the wheels came off with alarmingly rapidity. Coventry fell out with the referee. From the second penalty he awarded against them, Nutt kicked a goal. From the fifth, Kevin Wirachowski scored a try. Moseley bumped the ball into the corner, Erick Anderson won the line-out and Wirachoskwi trundled over for Nutt to convert. By the 16th minute, Nutt had kicked another penalty and at this rate Coventry, with the best intentions in the world, were going to end up a rabble. But 18 minutes into the game Mr Wilson gave them a penalty and the proceedings assumed an air of reality. As it happened, Coventry could not win the line-out but they stayed in position, worked up a head of pressure and Danny Collins went over for Lee Rust to convert. It was now a weird game of football because, two minutes later, Coventry’s up-front bustle earned them a third try, scored by Micky Curtis between the posts. Rust converted but nothing could staunch the flow of penalties against Coventry and Nutt kicked another after 26 minutes. Nothing, it seemed, could staunch the flood of tries against Moseley. In the 28th minute Johnson was sent away on the outside and, although the cover got to him, he squirmed his way over. Forty points in half-an-hour. Indecent. And no end to the spate. Coventry won a line-out in the 36th minute, took the blindside route to the line and Collins went in for a try that Rust converted. That Coventry should score this many points when the referee thought so little of their grasp of the laws was a small miracle. Nutt kicked another penalty in injury time and every one of Moseley’s 19 first-half points was sin-related. Not that Coventry were particularly dismayed. Five minutes into the new half a string of bad Moseley passes put Coventry in possession and the difference in ball skills was cruelly pointed as Coventry took play to the flank and gave Ally McLean the impetus he needed for a try that Rust improved. But Mr Wilson’s disapproval of Coventry’s methods was undiminished. He sent their captain, Mark Tinnock, to the sin-bin, Moseley attacked from the penalty and Simon Brading scored for Nutt to convert. He then sent Wirachowski to the cooler and it was Coventry’s turn to benefit, a winning scrum being the prelude to a try by McLean in the corner. In order to make up the front-row numbers, Ben Buxton came on for Wirachowski and a significant substitution this proved to be. For Buxton sold a dummy and scored a try in the 61st minute — from a tapped penalty, of course. Nutt converted and, according to the astonishing happenings of this match, Moseley were still in the game. But not much much longer. Shaun Brady had come on as replacement for Horrobin and he scored perhaps the try of the match in the 65th. Strong run, delicate little chip over the defence and storming charge for the touchdown. Rust converted. Then we had the biggest cheer of the day. Mr Wilson went off, possibly suffering from over-exertion of his blowing apparatus. Touch judge Dickenson replaced him and guess what his first decision was? Penalty against Coventry. This was a prelude to Binns’s try and although Moseley had now closed to ten points, Tinnock and McLean wrapped up the match for Coventry. |
