My Grandmother continued to teach school in the local area and taught Sunday School at the Cape Negro Church near by. My sister Leslie Kenney and I spent three months each summer for 17 years in Thomasville. They were the most wonderful years of our lives. We had many friends there most of them have either moved away or are now deceased. Let me know if there is anyone out there that knows us. |

They were granted 250 acres or 5 lots in Green Harbour and were described as " old settlers " and were pre-Loyalists. My parents (Murray Hamilton and Minnie Locke) were recently married and lost almost all of their wedding gifts in the house when it burned. | Comments: | My GGG grandfather was born in Nova Scotia but don;t know where. His name was Samuel Spear & married my GGG grandmother and her maiden name was Sophia Call. 1799-1803 and her fathers name was Elias & her mothers name was Hannah and Samuel and Sophia had eight children all together but only three was born in Nova Scotia as they migrated to Shiawassee Michigan via Ohio and had five more after that.Any help would be appreciated. | Comments: | Hello Shelburne and Cape Islanders, I am writing from Dearborn, Michigan. I am originally from New Bedford, Massachusetts. My Dad was born and raised in Clark's Harbour, CSI, Shelburne Co. NS. I have visited the area many times and am now getting interested in genealogy. Would greatly appreciate any help in this area. My grandparents (father's side) were James Burton Nickerson (1855-1906) and Margaret Cunningham Nickerson (1862-1949). They had 11 children and Dad was next to youngest. He will be 100 years old October 7, 2000 and still resides in New Bedford, MA with my Mom who turned 94 this month. Thank you for affording me this opportunity to research my relatives. We will be visiting your area next summer (again). Been there the last three years and stayed in Shelburne each time. Forgive me, I didn't mean to write a book. So, thanks again.
