|Comments:||Health insurance costs more than many retirees can afford, and in some cases is not even made available through former employers or private sources. Anyone retiring before the age of eligibility for Medicare insurance is left to find affordable health care coverage to pay for doctors, prescriptions, medical procedures and hospital visits. For many, the cost of living is barely affordable without a salary. Retiring without health insurance is one of the ways some workers arrange for an early retirement. Thanks.|

Brendan & Molly were still going although Molly was sick if I remember. There was a great atmosphere on the show and even though I have never really watched the show it did seem to be very popular.|

|Comments:||Thank You so much, after all this time i had no idea that the Valley still was alive in the hearts of many... Imagine, if we all had a little Wandin in our crazy fast up gradeable lives... We all might slow down, feel the grass between our toes,rain on our tounge,the smell of chook poo,the sight of the first egg from one of "your" girls & the taste of you first home grown Veggie...........Bliss
Thank You Matron,
|Comments:||Thank You so much for keeping this derambook alive. I am 37. Since having kids, i have gone from a self indulgent world of materializm to reevaluating LIFE.... The Beautiful parents that i was lucky to be adopted by, started it.
We , living in Carringbah, watched ACP . It has only been in the past 6 years that i have realized that my up bringing in the shire is the reflection of Wandin Valley that i aspire to give my now 2 kids..
I have just today, had an ACP encounter.I listed some stuff on freecycle in the Gosford area & my first reply was from a man that's wife has a slippery dip from the show ??? He was laughing with his wife about my user name. I, since moving to the cent coast have been able to keep chooks. My Girls names are Molly,Esme Watson,Matron Slone,Bev, Shirley,Dr Vicky,Judy & Chloe.
Thank You for keeping this site alive so i can share the beautiful Valley with my Kids
|Comments:||I am slowly re-living my childhood. A Country Practice is a HUGE part of my life. I play it in the kitchen when I have a long meal to cook and don't leave the kitchen until around 5 hrs later.I have 1.5 seasons left to purchase and by the time I finish, I'll be able to start again. Watching this series gives me a sensation of safety. No matter what is happening in life. My friends from Wandin Valley will always be there when I'm ready.|

|Comments:||I grew up in Pitt Town and since they often used our school as Wandin Valley Primary School, and "Frank" and "Shirley's" house was right across the road from the school, we were always able to watch them filming, and talk to the actors.
I remember hanging over the fence talking to "Bob", attending "Vicky" and "Simon's" wedding, and my sister and I sharing hot chips with "Jessie", as though it was normal!
As a young girl, the line between reality and the show were slightly blurred though, and it took my Mum a really long time to convince me that it wasn't real when Molly died!
A great childhood, and a wonderful show...
|Comments:||I grew up watching this show. I grew up around Syd Heylen and the cast as he was a family friend. It used to be cool sometimes knowing what was going to be aired, as well as watching some of the bloopers as the cast filmed the show. It was a privelage knowing Syd and i miss him greatly. Hey where is julie (his daughter) nowadays? Anyone know? I would like to drop her a line|

I live in the UK and am desperately looking for some episodes from 1988 where Terence's daughter Sophie arrived for a visit (pre Terence/Alex wedding), specifically episodes 539-544. |Comments:||I was very pleased to find this website. It is a very good site for such a popular and entertaining show. I used to watch the show when I was a teenager in rural WA - alot of us related to the characters and the issues that were dealt with in the episodes. I watched it right into the late 80's until one of my favourite characters got killed in an accident. They replayed the earliest episodes here in WA a few years back, and I was glued to the tv. Happy memories. Girls at my school even got similar hairstyles to the characters at the time. Keep up the good work, Kitty, you are doing a wonderful job for those of us who need to get special information about some of the actors etc, or just dose up on nostalgia.***|

|Comments:||Loved the show, would be way cool to own a piece of A.C.P history.|
|Comments:||Love the site and that you're still active on it. Have just started watching the DVDs and they're wonderful. Hoping they'll carry on so I'll get to see the episodes that were never shown in the UK because they 'weren't suitable for lunchtime viewing' ...
Incidentally, I mailed you quite a while ago with an image of the front cover of Brendan & Molly the Untold Story which I possess. I see it's still not up on the site so wonder if you ever got it? Trouble is, the book is now buried somewhere and it could take me a while to find it if you want another scan.

Article from: Hawkesbury Gazette
Date: 16 July 2007
Original Author: Shannon Tonkin
To the outside world it's Wandin Valley Hospital in the long-running drama A Country Practice. But to the O'Brien family it's Clare House and has been their home for the past 28 years.
On July 28 the piece of family and television history is up for auction after owners Ron and Trish O'Brien decided it was time to move to something smaller.
The house and the O'Briens enjoyed a certain degree of celebrity status during the show's golden reign on Channel Seven in the 1980s.
It started when a man appeared on their doorstep one day in 1981 and said he was doing a story about nursing in the bush.
"In less than six weeks, we had film crews here," Mrs O'Brien said.
"They only ever took footage of the outside of our house, but we had our fair share of actors and actresses on the property.
"They'd be here all day filming for hours, and when you saw it on TV there'd only be five or six seconds of our house, but it was great to see it on the screen."
Mrs O'Brien said many visitors wanted to see 'inside the Wandin Valley Hospital', expecting it to have been a real hospital at some stage.
"Contrary to popular belief, it never was a hospital, it's always been a home, but we'd have plenty of people knocking at the door asking to see inside the Wandin Valley hospital," she said.
Situated in Oakville between Rouse Hill and McGraths Hill in the Hawkesbury Valley, Clare House was built by Andrew Thompson between 1810 and 1830.
Originally on 105 hectares, the property was sold off in parts and when the O'Briens bought it in 1979, the house was surrounded by 3.2 hectares.
The O'Brien family of Ron, Trish and their six children moved in early in 1979 but Mr and Mrs O'Brien say it's now time to move on.
"It's a five-bedroom house and there's only the two of us here now. We want a place that's all on one level, without stairs," Mr O'Brien said.
"It's a big change for us, but we're looking forward to it."
I use to be an extra on ACP. I love the show i have watched it since i was little. It's great to know there are a lot of fans out there.

|Comments:||I have been a fan since it started. I don't have pay tv so I have to rely on my brother to record it for me to watch.
I have the last episode and everytime I watch it I cry because I loved it so much.
I collect everything I can find that relates to the show.
When I was A teenager I met "Cookie" and "Bob", they came to a fund raiser I had organised.
Only three years ago I watched Georgie Parker in the "The Man From Snowy River Spectatular" and she was wonderful.
When I speak to other people about A Country Practice it always brings about long conversations and pleasent memories.
It is wonderful to know that there are still so many people like me and such a wonderful web site to catch up with fellow fans.
|Comments:||Watched this with my parents when it aired at lunch times in the UK. Since coming to live in Australia 9 years ago, it is really strange that we ended up with all the native Aussie animals and birds from the show in our back yard. Still watching the show on Foxtelle and loving it. Brings back comforting memories of my family.|

I have some fantastic news!
MRA sent me an email, dated 24 January 2007, and they informed that they are releasing two 12 disc box sets in April 2007. They will sell for around $100 Australian.
The breakdown is as follows:
* A Country Practice - Series 2 - Part 2 - 1982 (eps 45 - 106)
* A Country Practice - Series 3 - Part 1 - 1983 (eps 107 - 148)
MRA plan to release further box sets during 2007, depending on sales, which they say look very positive. At this stage, they have secured the rights up until episode 532.
I now look forward to April 2007:)

|Comments:||First of all: top compliment for this site and your longstanding commitment!! Im originally Swiss, lived and worked in Australia for several years in the seventies and this country was a mind-opener to me! The way of life, the philosophy and true pioneering spirit (="have a go at anything mate, and we'll give you a hand!") which I experienced provided an enormous trigger to my life energies and plans. After returning to Europe I was lucky enough to "fall" into this TV-series, where I re-discovered just the qualities I had experienced in this great country. No neeed to say I got hooked! Ever since I have kept heartwarming memories of many details of the characters and wildlife etc, shown in ACP. (Unfortunately the recently issued DVDs only work for Region4 and Europe is Region2: so no compatibility!) Now, since January 07 the German pay-TV 'PREMIERE / Series' starts again showing the (early) episodes on weekdays. So, hopefully the fan group here will grow and with this the pressure to produce DVDs also for the European Region! I booked a yearly Abo especially to see ACP, however due to technical software download problems of the provider, I already missed out on some. I'm hoping (and saving up) to re-visit Oz in October 07 and ACP would be such an excellent introduction for my travel partner who is a novice to Oz. For years I have travelled for an international Organization, however, what many of you have stated is true for me too: No other show has ever surpassed the lasting impression which the "Wandin Valley Characters" have made on me in terms of human warmth and authenticity! Thanks for keeping up your precious resource site!|

|Comments:||Congrats on a great site!
I grew up watching this show and I loved it!
When it was shown in the mornings a few years back I used to watch it, and if I couldn't because of work I would tape it and watch it when I got home.
I used to live in Ferntree Gully, at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges, which is not far from where the later Channel 10 series was filmed.
I remember one time when they were filming not far from where I lived, I think it was a car accident, and they blocked off the road so we had to go a different way.
I really miss A Country Practice!
For more episode guides have a look at this site.
Keep up the good work.
|Comments:||Wow this took me back! I had no idea you were such a conscientious fan. :-)
I am proud to say that I watched the famous Molly-death episode the first time it was transmitted, and yes it was indeed one of the defining televisual moments of my life. I have so many clear memories of the early years, but I admit to "losing the faith" later on, when the stories got a bit too involved and contrived. The early ones may have been corny, but they got you in!
Goodness what nostalgia. I feel a tear coming on. Fatso, Doris, Esme, Vicki, Simon ... I miss you all.
|Comments:||A great site and the info is right up to date. I do hope that Channel 5 will show repeats for us avid fans here in the U.K.
Keep up the excellent work.
|Comments:||well what can i say A Country Practice is the best show ever made in Australian history. I love this show soooo much and i think it is wonderful that Jo loveday married Michael Langley.
i watch A Country Practice on the Hallmark channel only that they play repeats all the time. i would love to see the episods when Jo and Michael start to become more than friends. the only reason i know that the two get married is by this fantastic website.

|Comments:||Just an update to my previous message. Got hammered for £25 import tax. Not such a bargain, but still worth it!|
|Comments:||Claudia Black, who played Nurse Claire Bonnaci, in "A Country Practice", from 1993 to 1994, has done incredibly well for herself.
After starring in our favourite TV series, she went on to star in "Farscape" and, now, she is a regular cast member of "Stargate SG-1", in which she plays Vala Mala Doran.
Well done, Claudia!:)
|Comments:||Hi! I live in Australia.
A Country Practice will always have a special fondness with me, as I grew up with that show as a child and then as a youth. During my mid-teens, from 1989 to 1992, I wrote to the stars of the show. Many of the stars wrote to me and I still cherish those letters and autographs today. The stars who wrote to me include Brian Wenzel, Lorrae Desmond, Joyce Jacobs, Georgie Parker, Georgina Fisher, Jon Concannon, Anne Looby, Jamie Croft and Judith McGrath. It was during this time, I had posters of the show on my bedroom wall.
Unfortunately, the show got axed and I moved on with the rest of my life. However, I always thought back to my youth, as I always felt safe in Wandin Valley and its characters. In fact, the social and political issues dealt with by this series influenced me to become a Social Worker, from which I am practicing today.
In recent times, I bought series 1 and 2 of A Country Practice and I am in heaven!:) In Australia, there is a competition in which one can enter and visit a country destination. Imagine to my surprise when one of those destinations is Whyalla, South Australia!:) I live in Whyalla. In more ways than one, A Country Practice is connected to me.
|Comments:||thanks to everyone who has helped me out with my enquiry. ive only got the last dvd in the pack to go till ive watched all the episodes ...then ill have to start again. its funny how 20years later different charectors appeal to you. When i was a kid i loved dr bowen (still do)but now i think that shirl and vicky are the 2 greatest charetors they are really funny and play off each other so well.
i cant wait for the new site in july!
|Comments:||When I first heard that these were being released, I contacted MRA to ask whether they were being released over here (UK) and they donít have the rights, so the answer is no.
I got mine from DVD Crave, and was very impressed with the service - received it 3 days after postage! Plus, with the relatively weak Aussie currency, it cost me about £16 each series. Bargain.
Also, I have had no problems on my DVD player at all.
Hope this helps.
|Comments:||As far as I can tell, the DVDs really don't have any region coding on them (despite MRAs assertions that they are Region 4). I am able to play them on my computer's DVD player despite my DVD player being set for Region 1 and fans outside of Australia have been able to play them on their DVD players. Rather than waiting for them to come to the UK, you might want to order them from Australia (there are links to Australia sellers on the main WVBNH page).|
|Comments:||I loved ACP back in the 80's - I had a crappy job and my weekly instalment of life in Wandin Valley really lifted my spirits! I was thrilled to hear that the show is now on DVD....I live in the England, and I wonder if anyone knows if and when the series will be released in the UK? I'm keeping everything crossed that I won't have too long to wait.....!|

But NO! i am not the only one!! A Countru Practice is THE best program of all time... |Comments:||been to the website a few years ago, so good to have one dedicated to a fantastic show. planning on getting some of the dvds.|
|Comments:||I purchased my DVD's from Big W yesterday (great to see they stocked so many and so early), and I thought it pertinent to share what one of the employees aasked me. She was checking my receipt and saw what I had bought and asked what the deal was with ACP. I queried what she meant and she said that everyone had been in there buying it. So it's fantastic to hear that it is popular. Everyone keep up the good work.|
|Comments:||Yeah great news about the dvd's,won't have to worry about Hallmark stuffing around with this great aussie drama!!Was in Big W the other day they are selling series 1 and 2 for$39.95,which seems to be the best price around,happy viewing.|
|Comments:||Can't begin to describe my delight in learning that DVDs will be available very soon. My late Dad and I avidly watched A Country Practice in the 80's and I am so looking forward to seeing it again!|
|Comments:||Adam asked about the ACP filming sites. On my website to my dear friend Gordon (www.gordonpiper.com) I have posted the addresses and a map to all the filming sites I went to with Gordon over 2 days in March of 2003. I hope those will be helpful to those of you thinking about visiting the Pitt Town/Windsor area..|
|Comments:||Hi All ACP fans,
I see my little sister let the cat out of the bag regarding the upcoming launch of the DVD's. As the marketing manager looking after this, I can confirm it is true! MRA Entertainment will release the first two years on April 3rd, as two box sets, plus we are giving away 8 weekends for 2 in the country to tie in with the launch including a weekend at the Wandin Valley winery! We are hoping to be able to release further series of ACP over the next 12months. Series 2 has 1500 mins of footage so I hope you all enjoy it!
|Comments:||Dear Adam (adamsumm),
there are no tours that I am aware of that take in the ACP sites. I can give you the whereabouts of a few of the places in the series though.
The two storey brick building that you refer to is (or at least was) called the "Swallows Inn" or something like that. It is located almost directly opposite Windsor court house on the corner of North and Arndell Streets. The hospital is actually known as "Clare House" and is located in Clare Crescent at Oakville (not far from Windsor). As for the rest of the locations, you'll need to head to Pitt Town. You could basically call Pitt Town "Wandin Valley" for it is where the vast majority of outdoor shots took place. The opening iconic image that pans across the "valley" was shot behind the churches that are situated on the SW side of Bathurst St in Pitt Town.
I hope all this helps and is of interest to you. If ever you are in the neighbourhood drop me a line and I'll point you in the right direction.
|Comments:||12th April 2006 - whoohoo - I can't wait - Series 1 and 2 released on DVD
Great site, keep up the good work
|Comments:||hi i was just wondering if anyone remembers a tv ad that used to have brett climo (micheal the male nurse)in it... it had the song "sometimes when we touch" playing in the back ground.
does anyone remember what the ad was for or when it was played on tv ....
|Comments:||Awh i am at home.... A country practice was born the same year i was so grew up with the gang...my favs were molly and later lucy! and dr bowen was so dreamy (i want alfa romeo!) but harry morrison will always be my first true love!!! I am so excited to hear its going to come out on dvd!! also to answer someone question from a while ago ...we never saw beverly's face but occasionally, early on we saw her profile from the back ...she was a larger lady and i think may have been played by a couple of diff actors.|
|Comments:||What a great site! My favourite series of all time! I was under the impression A Country Practice was never going to be released on DVD but after reading recent entries it seems i was misinformed. Whats happening, someone please email me and fill me in!
Thanks ACP Fans
|Comments:||Hi to all ACP fans,
My sister and I don't miss the 2 episodes that hallmark are now showing. Love to know if any one knows if Chole is still out there, she was so cute in the series.
Can anyone tell me if there is a "tour" you can do of the ACP places, around the Windsor area? Does anyone know where that building is, the one that is the last image of the opening video? It's the two storey brick building?
|Comments:||I had been looking for any info on ACP DVDs and decided to look up ACP on the web to see if I could find any info and found your site! I can't believe there are "others' like me out there! I still think about the show and always wished that I could live in Wandin Valley and have all those wonderful people as my friends. Absolutely loved Dr Terrance Elliot and Shirley Gilroy! Such a wonderful town. I was fortunate to meet up with the majority of the cast at various promotional events in the 80's.
I am glad I have accessed this site and read the emails as now I see that the first 3 seasons are coming out on DVD - I will certainly line up to get the set! I rang up Channel 7 a couple of years ago when they took off ACP from the 0930 weekday timeslot and was told that the ratings were bad for that time of the morning! Can you believe that! Who cares about ratings at that time of the day!
I also read of the death of Sophie Heathcote in the TV Week - what a shocker!
Anyhow, I will keep on looking at this site on a regular basis from now onwards.
|Comments:||I have just read the news of Sophie heathcote and i am stunned and saddened. I grew up with A Country Practice here in the U.K. and was always taking time off from school to watch the adventures of my heroes Cookie,Bob and Esme. Who could forget the wonderfull Loopy Lucy played by the lovely Georgie Parker and Sophie's Steve was just the dream come true for a boy of my age.
It was my favorate soap even better than Neibours or Home and Away put together and it was a shame that it finished after such a long run.
Last of all i would like to thank everyone who was involved with A Country Practice for the sheer enjoyment that it brought me and that includes the actors who are sadly no longer with us.
So Best Wishes to whoever reads this and all the very best.
A bit about Sophie there.. I only just found out! I'm in shock :(
|Comments:||Just heard about Sophie Heathcote, what a bloody tragedy.|
|Comments:||I just found out about the passing of Sophie from TV Week magazine. She had only turned 33. So tragic because I didn't know she also had cancer and such young children. Sophie was a great young talent on ACP and Steve Brennan was also my favourite character on the show.
I loved watching the repeats of ACP years ago ... Steve and Luke were my favs.
Rest In Peace, Sophie
|Comments:||Absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of Sophie Heathcote - her character Steve in ACP was my all time favourite. Rest in peace, Sophie|
|Comments:||hi, i used to love watching a country practice in the 80's with my mother here in england.ive just read the comment below saying its about to be released on dvd and would love to know if anyone would know how i could buy it here in england? if anyone can advise me i would be grateful. my favourite characters were molly on the farm with her pig and chicken that used to sit in her kitchen if my memory serves me correct.|
|Comments:||I HAVE VERY SAD NEWS:(
Sophie Heathcote, who played "Stephanie 'Steve' Brennan" died at the beginning of January 2006, aged 33 years old.
It is believed that she died of an aneurism and that she had skin cancer. Sophie died in the United States of America.
|Comments:||Yup, its been confirmed. MRA Entertainment will release the first 3 years of ACP in time for mothers day. I spoke with their product person today who said it will only be $50 for the box set of each season...not bad when bad shows like Buffy are $100 plus!|
|Comments:||Great news for all. My sister works in entertainment and she rang and told me last night a company called MRA Entertainment in Australia has just got the DVD rights to ACP. They say the first lot will be ready sometime next year. I'll keep watching their site and let you know when they make an announement.|
|Comments:||Hi My name is Rachel and when I was growing up A Country Practice was one of my all time favourite TV shows. There is no TV shows on today which are as entertaining or interesting as A Country Practice was to watch. If there is going to be a DVD released in the future I would be one of the first to be buying it. It could be released as different seasons as other TV shows have come out. My all time favourite characters were, Esmae Watson, Terrence Elliott, Simon Bowen and Maggie Sloan to just name a few.
I really miss A Country Practice and love this site to remember the great memories of a great show.
|Comments:||Yes i agree with Trent in his earlier post,Hallmark should put the episodes back to 12 midnite,it's playing havoc with mine and Vernons love life.OHH|
|Comments:||Hi, Mike back again!
I'm just as curious as Kerri and most of you out there about the DVD of ACP! I'd love to hear from anyone who would like to share there fond memories about ACP, especially the earlier episodes when Molly and Brendan were in the show!
ps, this is a great website, keep up the good work Kitty!
|Comments:||I heard a rumour that they may be releasing ACP on DVD, perhaps even all 1000 episodes! Great news! I wonder how expensive it will be with all those box sets sitting around 150-$300...I hope they cut them down so its cheaper than that, I wouldnt even mind paying up to $100 a season just to get hold of it. Has anyone else seen it out on DVD yet?|
|Comments:||I'm pretty sure beverley was never seen on the show,she may have popped up though?does anybody know for sure,also the question re dvd's,i think we'll be waiting awhile 900 odd ep's that would be a huge boxset,would'nt it be great!!i'm not happy foxtel have just moved it from midnight to 3.30am BOO|
|Comments:||Does anyone know who played Beverly Little? I believe we never actually saw her!!!|
|Comments:||Hi, my name is Mike, and I'm a great fan of A COUNTRY PRACTICE! Certainly, its the best show that ever was! Come on Channel Seven, lets get the old eps of A country Practice back on TV!|

|Comments:||well well well,what you find on the net when you go lookin,amazing site,well done to all concerned,the show was as good as tv is going to get in Australia.
had the pleasure of meeting a few cast members over the years,great down to earth people.
POOR MOLLY INDEED!!
|Comments:||I was a huge fan of ACP back in the 80's.....my fave time was when Simon, Vicki, Brendan and Molly were all in the show. Doctor Elliott was wonderful - if only doctors could be so caring in real life! I hope this site continues....and it would be great if the forum got up and running...I shall keep looking back to check on this, as I'd be a regular contributor!|
|Comments:||When ACP was on in the UK I used to do shift work so most of the time I would tape the show and watch it later on.
I really liked ACP and sometimes wonder what the cast is up to nowadays. I have seen Maggie (Matron)in Neighbours but haven't seen any of the other characters, does anyone know what they are doing now?
|Comments:||Whoaaa! A website about A Country Practice! This is TOOOOO cool! I am from Ireland but have lived in Sydney OZ for 15 years, just after ACP went off air. But 6 months ago Foxtel (cable TV in Australia) started running the 1985 series - and I became hooked. Unfortunately they only show the series leading up to Mollys death - and a little after - and keep repeating it - I wanna see the others goddammit! Myself and friends have this new saying whenever we meet - "poor Molly" and if we're amongst people who dont know what we're talking about - its hilarious! KEEP THIS SITE GOING! IT'S FAB!
PS: Poor Molly.
|Comments:||As a follow up to some earlier posts - CHannel 5 have e-mailed me today stating that they have no plans to acquire rights to ACP.|
|Comments:||Hi, I really thinink that ACP was one of the best programmes ever! In fact "alright Es?" is still a common catchphrase around our office! I would love to see repeats from the beginning on Channel 5. I have a vague recollection that Grananda Plus started showing them on Sky many moons ago, but not for long.
I got into ACP when there was a great mystery of who shot Dot's cow, but was completely hooked with the programme after Bob and Cookie's scam with Vlioozal the alien from Enezorek. Anybody else remember that one? I hope you maintain this site - I have added it to my favourites and will be checking back frequeently. Can't seem to confirm the mailing list - is this still running?
I was very sad to hear of the death of "Bob." I always thought of him as the sort of bloke I would like to buy a pint for. I know it was just a character, but ACP was my escape from reality and for one hour a week, I used to be a resident of Wandin Valley. I can't imagine any other programme catching my imagination in th same way.
Anyway, Sorry to go on - I just enjoyed sharing my thoughts on ACP, and it would be nice to hear from anybody else who feels the same. I thought I was the only one!
