The one Van Wade gave me as gift for my first visit is still one of my favorites, a Van Wade Blue hosta. I'm just amazed at the diversity of these plants and the range of characteristics, God sure has made them an interesting foil in the landscape. |

Help me. I'm horrendously hooked on hostas. Last year it was canna ( Erebus, Bengal Tiger [Pretoria],Australia, President..to name a few). Now I'm in love with so many and I can't seem to shorten the list.. it keeps getting longer instead. To me, a hosta is a living sculpture ( as are many other plants). A person could spend $100,000 for a metal scupture in their front yard and I would feel my little hosta tops it hands down. I say this with a straight face...lol. To all you hosta lovers out there - I'm with you. Can't seem to stop discovering new ones to savor... Thank you all for the wonderful posts and pictures. Nice of you to share. |

| Comments: | I think your website is one of the best. Lots of pictures of individual hostas make it handy for finding individual hostas. But these abound. What makes your site particularly interesting and beautiful are the pictures of peoples' gardens. I like looking at others' gardens as they serve as inspiration for myself to get ideas for my own garden. I live on a five acre property in the country with lots of big trees and shady areas for hostas and other shade lovers. I've been bitten by the hosta bug really bad this year (I've always liked hostas, but now I love them and am obsessed by them). My collection is growing steadily (I have about 40 varieties now - and growing). Whenever I go to a garden centre, I can't help but check out their hostas and leave with one or two.

| Comments: | I have turned into the biggest hosta fan! We moved into an old country farm house with one huge hosta around an old tree and I took starts from that and began to do my yard. They're fantastic. I then ordered hosta's from a local greenhouse and have them everywhere. I'll admit, I'm not that keen on the names and didn't know there were so many different types. I think I'm addicted. I'm always digging some up, moving around, my husband says I move them like I do our furniture.
I'm so happy to have found this website and would love any information you have to keep them pest free, I don't have alot of money so any little hints you could pass my way would be so appreciated. People are amazed that most of my hosta's have come from this one plant. They make not having alot to spend on plants look like a yard that has spent a fortune on them, if that makes any sense. | Comments: | Your site is so much fun just to brouse. I have moved from Huntsville, AL where I had a lovely hosta garden. Last summer I moved about a hundred hostas and ferns to Foley, AL. People down here say they will not thrive. I have them in a special bed under live oaks. So far some of the smaller ones are up and looking just as good as they did in Huntsville. Masquarade and Golden Tierra are beautiful. Sum and Substance is trying, but I don't know if it will be as large as in Huntsville. Thanks for the lovely pictures, Margaret Comstock |
