Comments:I AM A BABY OF THE 60'S AND DIDN'T LEARN TO APPRECIATE MUDDY'S MUSIC AND HIS PLIGHT UNTIL RECENTLY. I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT WHAT HIM AND OTHER ARTSISTS ENDURED AT THE HANDS OF THE SO CALLED "MUSIC INDUSTRY". BACK IN THOSE DAYS THEY DIDN'T HAVE MUCH OF A CHOICE, BUT NOW THE YOUNG BLACK TALENTED ARTISTS ARE EDUCATED ON THE IN'S AND OUT'S OF THE BUSINESS AND MAKE THE MAN PAY THROUGH HIS NOSE FOR THEIR MUSIC.. I THINK THAT IT WOULD MAKE MUDDY, LITTLE WALTER, HOWLIN WOLF, ETTA JAMES, CHUCK BERRY, ETC. PROUD AS BIG MAMA ON EASTER SUNDAY!!!! REST IN PEACE MY PEEPS!!

But not until I recently saw Cadillac Records did I truly appreciate his music & talent. Now I can't stop listening to his, Lil Walters & Etta James music. My dad says "Your just now getting into that music after all these years!" But I really do like it. And just wanted that to be known.

One thing is missing though from every source I checked -- who are all of Muddy's children, where are they now and what are they doing? How many were there in all? Comments:Man, I just read Muddy's tour dates for the 1970's and realized that he played literally down the street from where I lived for years -- at the Bodega in Campbell, California -- and I didn't go see him. I didn't even know about it. I did get to see Albert King and John Lee Hooker there, but not Muddy because I was a fool and didn't keep up with things that were important to me as much back then. Thank God I went and saw Jimmy Reed in Berkeley a month before he went.

Folks, if you love an artist, go see them now. You never know when they will be gone and once they are, boy does it hurt if you had the chance and passed on it.

Love you Muddy -- more than I ever did before :'(

As a child, born in the North, my father's "country" music, as we called it, was lame, backwards, etc. Although I don't believe it was my father's intent to introduce me to his type of music, I'm so glad he did. Comments:Muddy Waters was a pioneer of Rock and roll and he did not even know it at the time. I think that schools need to change their text books. The text books say that Bill Haley and the comets started rock and roll, this is so obviously false. Leadbelly was one of the first to have a song that had that rock and roll sound. Muddy Waters, Little walter, Willy Dixon, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, Fats Dominoe need to be givin the respect they deserve for being fathers and pioneers of rock and roll. Music is progressive and it is very OBVIOUS that Bill Haley and the Comets were just another rock and roll group but not the pioneers or originators of anything. There needs to be a movie about Boogie Woogie artists. They had that rock and roll sound minus the drums. They were rock and roll on the piano.

We miss you and wish you were here. I can only hope that from your spot up there in heaven that you can hear that the blues is still alive and kickin' baby! You can take credit for that!!

Thank you for your music. Thank you especially for your guitar style. It influenced Clapton who influenced and inspired me into playing the blues and guitar. I can never thank either of y'all enough for that!!! Because of greats like you I can honestly say that the blues completes me.

Be especially proud of Bill. He's keepin' it real and doing it right. He has a lot of you in him. Thank God for that!! He's no copy cat but he is his own man.

We love you and miss you sooo much Muddy. Come back and visit from time to time.

Always...and forever....

Would have loved to see in concert, but I didn't appreciate the blues enough back in the early 80s.

My advice? If you dont know much of Muddy's music-START LISTENING!

Comments:Since I heard the first Muddy Waters' single around 1961 ("Honey bee" from 1951 I guess), I became a true fan of Muddy Waters. Not only I have gathered all the Muddy's records but I saw and met the man whenever he played in France and nearby countries. At that time he was not very well known and sometimes he and his band had to play for very small audiences. I guess he was glad that I wrote books about the blues and himself. I even went to his home in Chicago where I was treated like a VIP. I won't never forget... His greatness lies not only in his music - certainly one of the 20th century's most achieved work - but also and maybe foremost in his personnality, his charism and I feel his love for human beings to whom he brought joy and beauty.

Comments:Greetings:
I've recently watched the movie, "Cadillac Records." I noticed they represented a baby girl coming into Muddy's home as his daughter. This was supposedly around 1954. I have been trying to locate my own blood family, and have reason to believe that someone in this click may know something. I was given up for adoption in July of 1955 a month before I was to turn 2 yrs old,(8/11/53) and adopted through the Cradle Agency in Evanston, Ill. who reported my mother to be a french white woman, 38 yrs old and my father to be a black musician out of Chicago a few years younger. I mysteriously received a black concert grand piano some time around 1963 to 65 from an unknown doner. I was told that someone named Walter had a "Love debt" to settle with me, when I was in my teens, by an old Psychic woman. I dreamed of my father in an intense lucid dream, where I waved his life and with a prayer, and a voice came from the heavens and said, "No matter where you are, you will always be my child." I always thought that was God assuring me of my acceptance, but lately I wonder... Although I didn't associate the dream with a memory of my biological parent then, it did stand out in my mind that my father didn't look like the adoptive father I knew. He was taller than my adoptive dad, who was only 5'2", and darker, and slim. That dream occured also in the 60's, around the same time I got the mystery piano. A couple yrs later, Someone came to Racine and offered me a record deal, as I was writing music in my early teens, (7th or 8th grade) & had a lot of material. They spoke with my parents in a long meeting, but my adoptive parents would not allow it.
I am just interested to know if anyone may be able to help me to determine who my biological father may be. I know its a long shot, but to this date, I havn't been able to find any records before the adoption, and the city of Racine says they were burned.
I would appreciate hearing back from you, either way. I hope and pray you may have something, some lead or information to help me to solve this issue of disconnection.
Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration.
Be ever "One-d'er-full!"
Sincerely,
Krystan AlecSandra-Bray

When I hear the blues I can imagine the tobacco fields, the dirt roads and the joy on my father's face while he's listening to and singing along with the old blues singers. The Christmas before my father died I bought him a blues CD collection that had many of his favorite singers including Muddy Waters. I'm content that I was able to bring a little joy into his life during his last months.

Many thanks to those responsible for movies like Cadillac Records for providing a glimpse to the world of the magnificent blues and the men that presented it to us so beautifully.

Comments:I have loved the Blues and such great artist as BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn... for many years but now I am mad at those who turned me on to the Blues. Why? Because they didn't turn me on to Muddy Waters. Damn man, your music has to be fattening or illegal because those things in life that are that good are either fattening or illegal. Nothing that good can be good for you. I am not surprised that Uncle Sam hasn't tried to put a tax on you. I went out and bought a MP3 player just to listen to your music. The thing cost me $70 and doesn't come with speakers. The last time I saw something like that was my first "transistor radio" that only had an earplug. Stereo wasn't even invented yet. Good thing I wasn't listening to you for I am sure you would have smoked that bad boy.

On a serious note, your music is way past cool. The music and words are only over shadowed by your voice. Good stuff my friend. Damn, my girl just took my MP3 player. I got to go.

Thanks for delivering the Blues the way it should be.

Michael C.
