We are jus a bunch (Over 350) navy Vets from WW II and the Korean War Era that get together once a year to tell sea stories, and reminisce about our time in the service. I love the jokes and all of the updates from current members of the US Navy. I am very happy that someone takes the care an effort to publish a website like this one. | Comments: | For the sailor, being away is just as hard as for the person at home with the sailor gone. My only suggestion for you is to write as often as possible. Receiving letters while out to sea or when in port is the most exciting time for a sailor. Care packages are pretty important too. If your sailor is your spouse, close friend or family, tell them you love them and miss them and are patiently awaiting there safe return. If you are the religious type, pray for them to be safe. Of the 4 deployments I did, communications from the homeland was very important. Be brave. |

Before we went, he asked me to come up with an idea for something that all his buddies would like which would also remind them of their “Coastie” days. | Comments: | hi my name is becke. i met my boyfriend on the internet a few months ago. i learned he was deployed overseas in the persian gulf. we talked to each other as much as we could during his deployment and when he came home, we met for the very first time. this was the greatest moment of my life. i feel so much love for him and so much love from him. it is hard being with a sailor in the navy. and i am just beginning to see what it is like. he has been talking about going for shore duty next year. he mentioned that he might want to go to bahrain.i am a bit scared that we will be apart for an even longer time other then what they would normally do on deployment. if anyone is out there that wants to talk about being a sailors spouse i am here. we need to stick together right beside our men. and it will be lonely at times but they are doing such great things for the people of our country and those in other countries.there is just one thing i do want to say...I LOVE YOU BEN! |

We've been together for 4 years, 3 years engaged, and we just got married on December 27th 2003 while she was home for Christmas. She is at Great Lakes, IL and I live in Pennsylvania. She's only been gone now for just about 2 weeks. It's been very hard for me since for all the years that we've been together we haven't been apart. I mean when she was in boot camp I was cool with that and didn't have a problem at all with it. Now it's just 100 times harder because from my understanding of things I should be able to move out there with her, but we don't know yet. When she was in boot I knew I couldn't see her, but now I know I can be there with her and I can't, it's just killing me. For any one of you that are married one please tell me it gets easier because I cry every night. My second question is can any one of you tell me or know for sure if they would allow me to move out there with her. | Comments: | Wow, I always knew that a lot of women were going through similar emotions as I have been, but this website was quite a reality check. My boyfriend of a short time left for Navy boot camp in Great Lakes, IL on November 12, 2003. He has been gone a little over a month and some days it feels like forever that I have not seen or spoken to him. He writes each week, which I love. I have received 4 letters so far. I run to the mailbox toward the end of the week hoping for that letter on the naval stationary to be in the box. His mom and I thought he would be able to call today, but he clearly wasn't able to because we didn't hear from him. It was a bit of a disappointment, but hopefully he will call soon. To all the navy moms, wives and girlfriends of recruits in training, may you stay strong and the best is yet to come! God bless our recruits, sailors and so on and most of all God bless the women in their lives, who support them each day! |

| Comments: | My husband has been in the Navy for almost 20 years. We were married only 3 weeks before he left for boot camp. Over the years we have lived all over the U.S. and he's been on 6 diferent ships. He is now preparing to go on his 6th 6 month deployment. So many of you I read about are just getting started and if I can, I would love to help if anyone needs advice or has questions. We've had a very interesting experience with meeting all sorts of new people and making some of the best friends we've ever known. It's not always been easy and it breaks my heart everytime I have to watch him leave but we adjust to it and deal with it the best we can. My best advice is to be there for eachother. Not only do you need to support him, it's importand that he support you too. We have been on a wild rollercoaster over the years and some of you are just climbing in, so hang on tight and you'll be just fine. Feel free to e-mail me if you need to. |

About two weeks ago he was able to leave for the weekend and fly home for the night we spent every moment together as if they were our last. Our Love for eachother has grown so much in the past year and 5 months that we have been together. We Plan to get married on June 24 and im scared silly because i will have just graduated from highschool. I dont know what im getting myself into or how hard this is going to be for the both of us. I have recieved so much help from my friends and family and yet there is still an empty hole where my Alexis belongs. I hope to someday be home with him in his arms and live out all or aspirations that we have planned for our future. I hope that im not too young and im not making bad decisions. I've been married to my Sailor for a year and a half and for the very frist time August 4,2003 he went to Great Lakes,IL to be in the Navy (also he's very first time in a plane). We had a lot to fear, plane ride and what to expect in the Navy. Well, plane ride went great, and boot camp did as well. Flew by real fast. We had a great 3 days of Liberty on October 3-5 and then it was time for me to fly back home (Houston,Texas).It has been a long road and will get even longer as days go by. My husband had his first visit home in Oct. for 10 days and he is now an E-3. He left to go back to Great Lakes and is now currently as of today 10-29-03 in A school where he's an HM. My husband says this is so hard on him, but I believe with our faith and our strong relationship and communication (via cell phone) every day we update each other on things that are going on. I am so proud of him and all the decisions he's made for our family. We have a 3 year old and one on the way due 11-17-03 (but will be born between the 7th and 13th). We want to be stationed in Chicago and we are not certain if we will get it. I just pray that were ever he gets stationed we can all be together. If anyone wants to e-mail me be my guest. | Comments: | Hi everyone, my boyfriend is graduating from navy boot camp this thursday 10/30/03. He left 8/25/03 and even though at times I didnt think I could wait that long for him, the time has come and I did it. I got a letter from him every week he was there and 2 phone calls. Every letter I recieved talked more and more about our future and now we are talking about marriage. I love him more than anything but I have heard so many horror stories about being a navy wife. I have even heard the phrase that I will become a "west pack widow". Which means when my man is on float I will cheat on him(which i would never do). I have also heard that the navy commanders strongly advise men not to be tied down when they are in the navy. I would just like to talk to some navy wives so i know what i am getting myself into. We lived in great lakes for 6 months and then we moved out here to san diego. It is beautiful out here but, I wish we were closer to home, Michigan. My husband will be going to the USS Mobile Bay in december and that will be our real fleet experience. Hopefully all will go well. My boyfriend or, as I like to call him, my soulmate, just headed off to Navy bootcamp in Pensacola, FL. He's only been gone for 2 weeks and I already miss him like crazy! I can only imagine how his mother must have felt when he was gone to Marine bootcamp twice! I guess distance really does make the heart grow fonder. Every little letter and short phone call keeps me going. I wish there was some way I could make this time easier for him, but I know that he is strong and I know he will do just fine.
