We are jus a bunch (Over 350) navy Vets from WW II and the Korean War Era that get together once a year to tell sea stories, and reminisce about our time in the service. | Comments: | For the sailor, being away is just as hard as for the person at home with the sailor gone. My only suggestion for you is to write as often as possible. Receiving letters while out to sea or when in port is the most exciting time for a sailor. Care packages are pretty important too. If your sailor is your spouse, close friend or family, tell them you love them and miss them and are patiently awaiting there safe return. If you are the religious type, pray for them to be safe. Of the 4 deployments I did, communications from the homeland was very important. Be brave. |

I wish i would have found this website when he was in boot camp! He left for boot camp March 7th 2005 to Great Lakes. Eastern Oregon is where we live. We're both 18 years old, he graduated from high school last year and im graduating this year! It was so hard for me to get through the fact that he was sooo far away but when he graduated from boot camp i went to his graduation. Before we went, he asked me to come up with an idea for something that all his buddies would like which would also remind them of their “Coastie” days. I am a nurse and have a small home business creating “awareness” jewelry for such causes as breast cancer. HIV and recovery and we came up with a wonderful bracelet. His unit did not have too many guys left so it was easy to ask them what they would like. These bracelets went over like gang busters and now some other units have asked for them for their reunions as well as family members of those deployed who wanted to wear something that represented their loved one. | Comments: | Hi girls! I'm so happy I found this website. This is my last hope. Hopefully I can get some help from you. I met a navy guy a few months ago before he was going to the persian golf. We were keeping in touch via e-mail and he told me before that sometimes they go without the internet for security reasons for some days. I'm close to desperation now cause I haven't heard form him for more than 2 months! I only have his e-mail address and don't know how to contact him otherwise. I'm really worried. Does any of you have experience with this kind of situation? Is there really no way he can contact me for so long or should I stop being so naive? I don't know what to think anymore. I entered into a search engine, "I miss my Navy boyfriend" and this website popped up! :-) I know that I am not the only one going through this, and I am here, writing, for myself and for you all, too! Mike and I agreed that if we can work through these experiences of being apart, of learning this new way to communicate, of staying madly in love, than we can survive through anything. | Comments: | my boyfriend just left for the navy July 21... its been 2 weeks now since he left, but it feels like 2 months... i cry all the time and am so depressed and never wanna do anything ... he signed up for 5 years instead of 4, which is even more depressing... i dont know when i can see him next because i dont know if after bootcamp he gets a break or not.. ??... we've been together 8 months so far, and him leaving hurts so bad... he was my everything... and i can't stand to think that he's at great lakes getting yelled at and pushed around, which makes me even more depressed, if thats even possible... i just got his adress on August 1, but i have a feeling that i won't get a letter for a long time or not one at all because he has to write to his family also and i'm not sure how much time he would have to read mail and respond... :'( THIS SUCKS :'( |

| Comments: | My fiancee is deciding to go back to the Navy and we are planning to wed soon. I am a devorcee and I am afraid of going through this entire thing agian. I love him so much and I am all for him going back into the navy for the simple reason he is loves it. When he tells his Navy stories he lights up like a x-mas tree. My disire is for him to be happy. I know he loves me and I love him very much and I will admit I am so afraid of not being as strong as I say I am and falling apart when he leaves on his deployments. I want it not to affect me but if it didn't I wouldn't be human. I just wish there was some way that I could make sure I could be strong and supportive.
