| Comments: | Now that I've found Sheila's site, I made an extra effort to upload gravestone info for Union (Smith Hill) Cemetery on http://www.findagrave.com. At this writing, I've uploaded 254 names. It will take a few more days to Add Pictures.
I have about 1/3 of the cemetery left to be photographed. These are more recent buriels (1900's & 2000's). And, I have about 50 pictures for which I can't decipher the engraving on the digital pic - or they are just too illegible to be of any use. |

| Comments: | I just found Sheila's site today (11-30-2009). After I signed the Guestbook, I read all the postings. My side genealogy project is uploading grave info and pics to FindaGrave.com for the Union (Smith Hill) Cemetery (site of the United Methodist Church from 1832 to 1984) located at the intersection of TR76 and TR67B west of Coshocton out Rt. 541. It is a VERY slow process.
I have about 2/3 of the pics taken but some stones are so old & illegible, they are of little use. Or, I have to retake them or shadow them. Many need to be cleaned or even dug up. There are a lot of Dickersons buried there as well as some of the surnames mentioned in the posts. I will contact some of you directly. Surnames include Smith, McCoy, Wright, McMullen, Spore, Wolford, Stephens, Eaton, Dicus, Cray, Masten, English, Hamilton, Trego, Sproul/Sproull, Hawthorne, Norris, Day, Mueller, Hains, Ward, Dobson, Norris, Camp, McNabb, Sisley, Haas, Baker, Heck, Freese, Phillips, Taylor. And, I still have more to take (next Spring), but they are the more recent buriels up thru current times. FYI, there are lots of forgotten children buried here. My biggest question is - who would have the buriel records for this cemetery? |

Ten years later in 1860 Coshocton Co, OH he and wife Margaret were living with Abraham Foster and had children William (age 9), Sarah (age 6), John (age 2), and Martha (age 4 mo). In 1870 I find no trace of James or Margaret but the children are living each with a different family in Noble Co, OH |

I have not found his port of entry or his family home. He applied for naturalization while in Bucks township. The Neff family is well documented and came thru Pennsylvania. |

The Coshocton County, Ohio website is wonderful. I have been able to find Marriage, Birth certificates re: Thomas J. Cook and his spouse Margaret V. Bonnell Cook. Their child Joseph D. Cook was my GreatGrandFather and of course Margaret was my GGMother. He was a farmer in Old Washington (township) and Linton County. I found his name in one civil war article on the 16th regiment. My GGGrandfather was Thomas Johnson (1783-1840). I am trying to find more info on Sarah Parker his spouse (1791-1862). Maybe you can steer me in the right direction. Thanks Keith (Joseph) sends. |
