| Comments: | Haven't had the time to check out the entire site, which is great of what I've seen so far, but wanted to pass this on to you. I was at a social function a few months back, and a guy was there at the table I was setting at. Claimed he had served in P Co/75th. He appeared to be too young, claimed he was there in late '72, located down south in the delta, etc. I told him it was my recollection that the outfit stood down sometmie in August/September of 71, and had operated primarily in the northern I Corp region. He pretty much told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. Just so happened I served with Steve Nash at Bragg around 73/74, so then went on to pretty much set this guy straight. Would like to know how Steve is doing if anyone knows. Anyway, I took the "lad" to task that night. I don't understand these wannabees! I consider myself fortunate to have served with SGT Nash (he and I were assigned to S-3 Section, HHC 2d Brigade, 82d Airborne Division). I was a 71B (clerk/typist), but Steve taught me a lot about infantry tactics/operations, and I eventually changed to 11F as primary MOS. I was also fortunate to have served with a MOH winner from the 173rd, Charles B. Morris. He was one of a kind, not unlike Steve. Anyway, I have checked out some other sites, and it seems that there are all kind of people out there, professing to be something they are not. Don't understand the mentality, but if they are lucky, they won't run in to someone that knows better, or was actually there. Anyway, again, great site, and I'll try to check all of it out. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Nash, please e-mail me. I would like to get hold of him to see how he has been. Thanks....Paul |

| Comments: | Bob, There is no way in heck that I can ever repay you for all that you've done for me!!! You have gone far and above the call duty. It was an honor to serve with your brother and the rest of DOWD'S DIRTY HALF-DOZEN. There is not a day that goes by that I'm reminded of the rest of 1-6. This web site brings back a lot memories and I feel honored to be part of it. |

My father is the only Olympic Medalist KIA for the USA. Last May ESPN.com ran a bio on him that was 8 pages long. | Comments: | A nice memorial. Thanks for the memories. This brings some tears and some smiles. We were all so young and indestructable. It came as a shock when I heard that team "Killer 1/6" had been shot down. (Killer 1/6: radio call sign. We had both "Foxy Killer" and "Campus Killer. Many of the troops at Quang Tri called us "Killer teams") I was also one of the originals to come up to Quang Tri from Bien Hoa and was on team 1/7. Later, I was commo platoon sergeant for a month, or two, before I derosed. As commo sergeant, I dealt with "Dowd" (It was common to go by last names in the army)often as it was my job to keep commo equipment ready to go for those guys. Tom Dowd was always a happy-go-lucky kind of guy and very dedicated to doing his job well, as most of us were. I'm glad to see Sam Paccurari's (SP?)name here. I remember us all laughing at his concern because he came to Nam on Feb 29. He feared that he might have to wait four years before he could go back to the world on the next Feb. 29th. Isn't it strange the things we remember? Hello to everyone. I have the highest regard for all of the young men who served and the deepest sympathy for the families of those who died. |

| Comments: | Bob, my name is Tom Perry. My wife and I met you and your wife at one of the rendezvous maybe benning?? I sell continental piston aircraft engines and our biggest trade show of the year is Oshkosh which conflicts with the P Company and Regiment reunions every year, so I only get to read Terry (rangerrock) Rodericks emails and see pics. I was sending a couple of quang tri p company 1971 pics to the charlie horse website and hit the link to your website. I am sure it is a lot of work. I was with Papa company from 12/70 till we stood down in aug-sept of 1971. From Jan '71 until we stood down, we were supported almost 95% by D 3/5 Cav (charliehorse) Two rangers, Neil and Hubrins took 6 month extensions at the end of their year tour and volunteered as scout observers in loaches. Charliehorse at that time was using the under powered OH58. Working as a low level target to draw fire for the cobras, we all thought those guys (D 3/5 scout platoon was call sign Kamikazi) were crazy. 3/20/1971 all our teams were in the field on a line parallel with laotian border while the arvns were being extracted from Laos. That was the day approx 80-90% of all helicopters in Vietnam were in quang tri and khe sanh supporting the arvn attempt to cut the ho chi minh trail west of khe sanh. 66% of all those helicopters were hit some downed and some shot up so bad they were grounded that same day. Charlie horse was our support and when myself and another of my team mates while on a two man recon less than a km from the laotian border we fired on some dinks (this was a fairly flat area with very large bamboo clumps) which we find out was a platoon or larger nva unit, Neil was the gunner on the OH58 standing on the skid strapped to helio with a cut down M60 on bungee cord firing long bursts just over our heads the bird no higher than 20 or 30' off ground the pilot flying sideways to give Neil clean shooting. The hot brass was falling all over us. I was hit slightly a couple of scratches, but that still stands out in my mind, miles outside the range of the largest artillery, as soon as we were in contact this crazy sonbitch saved my ass. Before I could get by to thank them in the rear, March 24, 1971 they were shot down in same location and only the pilot was alive. While with Papa company there were two cobras lost with out survivors while supporting my team. 5/27/1971 Cpt Paul D Carter D 3/5 Cav CW1 Jerry Foy YD181450 6/1/1971 1Lt Paul Gerald Magers D/158 CW2 Donald Lynn Wann XD 855454 |

| Comments: | Roy Jeffrey Burke was a friend of mine. We grew up in the same town of Carnegie, PA. I remember him as a freckle-faced Irish kid who loved life and loved his nieces and nephew. His family had a "camp" in Burgettstown, PA. On a wall in the kitchen, Grandma Burke recorded all the important events of their family's lives with dates beside them. The saddest sight I ever saw was Jeff's name on that wall with the date 12/21/69 beside it. He's been in my heart and mind ever since. He was a brave boy/man who loved being a Ranger. I hope he knows how much he's missed. |

The team I was on were Hernandez, Dovorak, Simpson, Moyer, Cowles, Boldt, Kovach, Buckanan, SGT Ford, Holmes,SGT Ring, and me. 13H and 17H was a couple clicks from us and SGT Diers wasnt far in that AO. Harold Sides and Richard Erwin and a distant cousin I didn't know. Last week I received an email from Harold's widow. I was struck for something to say. But I have responded to her email. I took a picture of Harold and Ricky from our high school year books and uploaded them to the Virtural Wall web site. It was great to see your pictures and the ones that included Harold. Thank you for doing this in rememberance of all the guys you came to know while serving. Those of us who live on must never forget. |

| Comments: | I was a platoon leader with 1/61st in 1970 on the DMZ. Used to insert 75th Rangers from Pappa Co in and around that area with our "tracks" (M113 Armored Personel Carriers. Insertions usually went fine but extracitons were "fun" as you guys were usually in contact. On Sept 20 1970 a predawn chopper insertion went bad (NVA 51 Cal) and 5 P/75th Rangers were killed along with the Huey crew. Our Company (A) went in to rescue/recover and 2 more of our guys were killed (NVA 60mm)... 11 Americans KIA that day before the sun came up. Had the greatest respect for you guys, reconning in 4-5 man teams in an area crawling with NVA. Welcome home. John Kieffer, 1LT Infantry, 5th Div, Vietnam, Jan-Dec 1970 |
