Robert North Saturday, June 13th 2009 - 11:33:32 AM scooter9@ptd.net I grew up in Garwood from 1948-1960. Garwood was a great small town to grew up in. It holds alot of memories for me.I live at 254 Willow Ave. I remember the woods, climbed just about every tree there was, now all houses. I remember Thatchers, where the shopping center is now. Remember the steam locomotives and the tressel that went over the railroad tracks? We would go up on that tressel when a train was coming. The tressel would rock back and forth. It was great and scary at the same time.We were kids, we didn`t care. It was fun.I live in Pa. now, but still make trips to Garwood when I can. Garwood is a town you can never forget. Thanks Garwood.

Tom Pilitowski Thursday, November 6th 2008 - 02:08:52 AM tpilitowski@yahoo.com http://www.usrarecoininvestments.com I grew up in Garwood and think about that great little town from time to time which led me to doing a search on yahoo and finding this dreambook. Thank you very much for putting it together ! I'm trying to find copies of Garwood Little League pictures. I played on the VFW team, I'm guessing around 1964/65.( ? ) If anyone can help in this regard would you please contact me? There was one year that my Dad, Bill Pilitowski was a coach and was in the teams picture. I think I was one of the kids holding the baseball. Not positive but I think so. One of these days my Wife and I are planning on traveling to NJ and seeing Garwood. It would be a hoot to see some of you all. God bless Tom

Ex-Garwoodian resident Thursday, March 6th 2008 - 01:36:55 AM mysteryman@yahoo.com Ahhhh, the memories of Lincoln and Franklin school. I fondly remember Glenn Crawford aka the Joker with all her make up. Who can forget Industrial Arts teacher Frog White, upstairs in his 3rd floor woodshop. Many good memories standing on the tables in the back room watching the World Trade Center buildings being built. Also remember dropping stuff out the window in the paint room. The stuff went right by the principals office! One of the BEST teachers at Lincoln school had to be Dorothy Tearse. Everything she taught in American history she knew because she lived through those times. I dont think todays kids could survive Mrs Tearses class when she made you memorize the Preamble, Gettysburg address and Shakespeare soliloquy and then have to recite it in front of the class! Who can forget the hell that would be raised if you made the mistake of wearing shoes on Joe Troianos gym floor?

Penny Troiano Friday, February 16th 2007 - 09:17:21 PM patroiano@hotmail.com Tonight I was watching Wheel of Fortune and there was a contestant from Garwood, NJ, my home town. I got nostalgic and found Garwood's website. My parents are retired educators from the Garwood Public School system. I wonder if you still have the PTA fairs that used to be held on the Washington School grounds? My children are grown now, and I often tell them stories of what it was like to grow up in a small town. Growing up in Garwood was the best with lots of fond memories. Thank you for this wonderful site.

John J. Mozart Jr Saturday, November 26th 2005 - 04:23:50 PM jmozartjr@peoplepc.com Grandfather, John Mozart, drove the first fire truck owned by Garwood FD. This was because he was the only one at the time who knew how to drive a truck. I was told he drove it from Newark to Garwood. He actually started with the Garwood FD in the 1920's. He was an active member of the Garwood FD for over 50 years. Great guy! We surely miss him.
