Shows like Pete & Pete, Clarissa Explains it All and Salute Your Shorts are such an integral part of my adolescence. They are all special to me, but a show like Pete & Pete has never been made before or since. It is truly a unique piece of television, and should be remembered for it. As a side note, I just purchased the Polaris CD containing all of the songs featured on the series. It is completely awesome.

I just cringe when Spongebob "Needs-to-die" Pants comes on, and i wonder how these younger kids today can handle these new excuses for "cartoons". There is really no way to describe how great Pete and Pete was, there was always this odd aura about the show that somehow perfectly captured the feeling of the early 90's, it was almost like the show had a, well, grunge-music-of-that-time feel to it, like with the show sometimes being sad (artie leaving forever, the mystery of Mr. Tastee). The show never flat out just had happy endings or told you what happened to everyone, it just sorta left you there to think. I think that is one of the greatest things about it, it wasn't like other kids shows of the time, and i personally think the show was aimed at a much older audience, younger kids didn't always understand the issues involved in the show, im sure that it would have been on the air alot longer if it displayed itself as an older generation show, rather than a kiddish show, but as soon as you watched it, you know there was some in-depth stuff there. so to conclude, this is long, sorry, but as with everyone else, i dearly miss the show, and haven't seen episodes of it in years and am very, very interested in getting some tapes (can anyone hook me up with some quality copies? i will pay $$$) You would think Nickelodeaon or some station would realize how great these shows would do if they were put back on air, same with salute your shorts, and the ninja turtles and all those shows of that era. I really want to know, what the heck were they thinking? Replacing shows like Pete and Pete, and Salute Your Shorts, with shows like Tiana, and Rocket Power. Nickolodeon got sick of being creative, and just started crapping out shows to turn kids into morons. alright, that's enough about nickolodeon...on to pete and pete. i must say that is the greatest kids show ever made. I saw an episode last week that I haven't seen in a million years, it made me want to cry. I couldn't believe that the writers (or whomever) got away with so many innuendos on a kids show. It was the episode where Artie gets tricked into selling aluminum siding, and not being a super hero anymore. At one point he was making a commercial in which he rubbed his back up against the house, and said "You too will enjoy the pleasureful ridges". It's stuff like that, stuff that most kids would never pick up on that makes it an even more wonderful show. You can watch an episode a thousand times, and still not pick up on some of the jokes. I wish I could go back in time, and give Nickolodeon, the cast of Pete and Pete, and the writers of Pete and Pete high fives. Shake them all by the neck and say, "thank you for making such a wonderful show, thank you" ps this is a very impressive site. kudos.

I remember seeing the Adventures of Pete and Pete on "back-in-the-day", and wondering how a children's station could actually produce something of such a universal magnatude. It's sad to say but as the grunge rock scene of the early 90's fell apart so did many of it's staples, such as P&P. Since then basic cable hasn't had substance, wether it be writting or production values in general. If you disagree with that last comment, just ask yourself "when was the last time I was entertained by TRL?". In closing, great site, I hope the episodes are one day available on video and DVD. Just so I can show my unborn children how I perceived my middle school years.
