Comments:we rescued a beautiful cat which we now realise was probably a pure norweigan forest cat.he was amazing and are researching the breed hoping one day we can have another.at present our kids are too young and may hassle an adult.we had our cat named murphy untill he was about 13 years old and all of us miss him so much.he was black and white with all the obvious features.and huge!they are the most incredible breed and given time we will have another, just as a pet to love.do contact us if you have a cat to re-home.especially if the cat is feisty enough to cope with a 3 and 4 year old.

Comments:Thank you for this website. Me and my husband rescued a young cat/kitten in January 2008 after our baby of 18yrs passed away. Our new addition, Asia, has had a question mark against her breed and I now know she is a Norwegian forest cat from the informative pictures and descriptions you display. Thank you for helping us end the search!

Comments:Hi

I would just like to say that your site is great and your cats are beautiful. Like how the site has been put together would love one but at the moment I have my own
cat and feel that to look after a cat properly one is enough. Maybe one day in the future I may contact you guys to purchase my very own forrest cat.

Comments:We have a Norwegian who we rescued from a cat sanctuary. Freja, is a much loved member of our family and reading the info on your website, would appear to only be faulted by a shorter than average leg length. You have my full support with you breeding philosophy and I wish you all the success in the World. I do not agree with fashion breeding like yourselves and it is a sad reflection on the greed of certain breeders to smudge the distinctive and desirable characteristics of cat breeds. If in the future, we feel the need for a companion to Freja, we will be in touch.

Comments:I am the proud owner of a Maine Coon whom we brought over from South Africa on 1 May 2009 (unfortuantley he is still in quarantine) it is with complete delight I see your babies, the are just as they should be, especially the silver tabby, absolutely beautiful. We should have our new home in five months, hopefully you will have another silver baby girl that you would consider selling to us. The only thing is we don't breed them, just love them for the rest of their lives.

Thank you anyway, magnificent.

Comments:How wonderful that this beautiful cat continues to thrive. I have never met one (although I would love to!) As a six-cat owner (and abject slave of all cats) I applaud the conservation efforts of people such as yourselves. My feline family were all strays originally (as were both of our dogs) and I have always pursued a policy of adoption rather than purchase. Nevertheless I can still dream of living with an extraordinary cat such as your breed. Happy Christmas to all of you, four and two legged alike. best wishes, Patricia

Comments:The world of Norwegian Forest Cats has just lost one of its stars. You are the most responsible & dedicated breaders there could ever be!!
Our two girls that have lived with us now for a year are just the best and the support and advice..as well as your friendship.. have been second to none.

We understand why you have taken the decision you have, and support you completely, as I am sure many ohers do also. The irresponsible and despicable acts of the owner of such a wonderful and precious animal has caused so much heart ache for many.

We hope that at some point in the future you will continue breeding such fine, well socialised and good type NFC'S
for us and other lucky owners to be proud to own. We all know that your cats are fit and healthy when they leave to go to their new homes, with such good support and guidance from yourself how can people get it so wrong.

I think we speak for many by simply saying.. THANK YOU ...and look forward to seeing you very soon !!

Best Wishes

Comments:It is sad to hear that one of the most responsible breeder I have ever "met" (on the internet), is stopping breeding. The cause is totally understandable.
I've got mixed feeling about the breeding of companion animals, because it is an activity open to everybody who 'fancies' it without the necessary restrictions.
On the other hand, there are so many unwanted cats and not many good homes, that breeding more of them should be only seen as an act of real preservation, carried out by a few very responsible people.
You are this sort of people.
Your decision to stop breeding, because of what happened to one of your kitten, says a lot about your feelings and sense of responsability towards this beautiful breed and all animals in general.
I hope you'll find another rewarding way to support the preservation of Norwegian forest cats and maybe this will bring you to start breeding again at a later date.
Thank you for sharing your love and experience about them.
All the best,
Silvia Rossi

Strange to think back to our first visit to you when you let me hold him in my hand as a three day old kitten.
He and his older sister are very happy with us and we are so pleased that they have settled down so well.
All the hours and hours and hours that you put in with them is obivious as they are such gentle cats !

Comments:Hella....again!
We now have Lille Maj (Norgeskaukatt Majestitisk with us, a Wegie kitten, with a rough and ready look and such an attitude! Once again Lorraine and John have bred an outstanding litter of Wegie's, we now have had 4 kittens from Norgeskaukatt, and what a fantastic type perfect 4 they are, everything and more than you could possibly want and need from these wonderfl cats. Once again, thank you for your dedecation, devotion and research you put into your breeding programme, the results of which speak or rather, meow for themselves.
A note from us at Norgeskaukatt.
WE REPOSSESSED Majestetisk from these owners due to having 2 litters of kittens in 11 weeks from her. Despite our kitten contract they have not as yet registered any of the kittens but sold them to owners as such! If anyone has purchased a kitten from Hugin Norwegian Forest Cats please contact us as a matter of importance.

Comments:We have recently become Mum and Dad to Marthe a beautiful black and white baby of Ilios. She is delightful. She has a wonderful affectionate temperament. She retrieves her little mice just like a dog and so enjoys it. She also loves to play hide and seek. She has made a wonderful companion for our adorable rescue cat Magnus who is also black and white and
who I am sure has some Norwegian Forest Cat genes! Norwegian Forest cats make magnificent pets as they are more "in tune" with humans and less aloof than other cats. Congratulations to Norgeskaukatt and NorgeskaukattGB Norwegian Forest Cats for producing such wonderful cats.

Comments:Just took delivery of two precious forest cat kittens. They are adorable. We have been looked after right from the start.
The boys were delivered to our door and John stayed with us until they were settled in, which was great as in those couple of hours we were able to chat about all our concerns and learn so much more.
Lorraine was unable to come that day, but has been brilliant in her knoweledge of forest cats. They are very different to the normal cats. Thankyou so much.

THIS IS A WARNING TO OTHER BREEDERS,

COMMENTS FROM US AT NORGESKAUKATT. This couple Vivien & CHRIS from SKIPTON in North Yorkshire had two very fit healthy kittens who were given a full health check the morning of the day they were delivered and a health certificate from our vet.
This woman did not follow the feeding guidelines and one of the kittens (Norgeskaukatt Skogprins) despite much advice from ourselves and her own vet!- This caused a situation whereby the kitten had a irritable bowel, rather than extend compassion and consideration for the poor kittens suffering she just complained bitterely about the cost of a special diet to make him better - we even offered to pay for this as she complained so much!! We wanted this baby back to get him well and she did no more that demand the kitten be put to sleep - against our kitten contract - against our wishes - and against her own vets advice, we requested the kitten back and still despite several homes offered to her by her own vet she demanded this baby be put to sleep AND insisted on being present to make certain this dreadful deed was done!! This situation very nearly made me give up breeding, We were devastated at such a sick action and I could not believe anyone could commit such a dreadful & wicked act.
May our presious Norgeskaukatt Skogprins rest in peace bless his baby soul.God only knows what has happened to the other one!

Comments:Thank you Lorraine & John! The weeks of waiting for the time when Ingimarr was ready to leave your loving home and come to live with us were all worth it! What a gentle, loving, sweet natured and gentle temperment he has!
He has such a classic tradditional Forrest cat look about him, and this is what I wanted, a Forest cat which looked as it should, not watered down by poor breeding, so even though Ingimarr looks like he just walked out of a forest in Norway, he has such a lovely nature and love for people that I have got the best of both worlds. So thank you - so much - I think your kitten contract is what every responsible kitten owner would want and expect, and the support that you give for the rest of the kittens life is great - you can ring us at any time - but we will most likly be sending you pictures and ringing you first with up-dates!

Synne is superb and I am smitten - even though she is now here with us, I still cannot quite believe that I am lucky enough to own one of Tigra's beautiful silver daughters! You have been really helpful and supportive, and I was so impressed by the way you managed the introduction of Ingimarr and Synne to our 5 other cats yesterday. We will be keeping in touch and sending lots of pix!! All the best Jacquie x

Comments:My wife Jo and I hugely enjoyed looking at your cat profiles. We have an enormous british cream boy aged 7(at least we thought he was enormous until we saw your pics)a russian blue boy aged 6 and a 12 year old tabby persian cross called evil(she comes from newcastle!!)
We wholeheartedly approve of your breeding ethic and it certainly shows in the beauty of your cats.
Many thanks

Comments:Hiya, Well, Torgils is now with us, and he is magnificent, made the long wait worth every second, a class act like this does not come easily, his breeders are at the top pf the food chain when it comes to Wedgies. As well as Torgils, my daughter fell in love with Moerka, and as a result the mischievious black demon now has taken over part of our lives and home as well. Sif comes to us when she is ready to leave her mother, and I also cover Lorraine in that that title! She is formost in developing this breed and maintaining their originality, John and Lorraine thank you for my babies.

A Note from Us at Norgeskaukatt.
Due to idescriminant breeding practices and their lack of compliance with GCCF recomendations we ordered the neutering of Norgeskaukatt Torgils ( what a waste) and Norgeskaukatt Moerke ( who apparently had a litter of kittens sired by their moggie!!which now thank fully has been carried out. We have also REPOSSESSED Norgeskaukatt Majestetisk and Norgeskaukatt Sif - two breeding females. Both ill at this time and now thankfully back in our care.

Comments:Hi Lorraine and John - you are simply the best and I would never hesitate to recommend you or acquire another a kitten/cat from yourselves again. Hoder and Fonn are doing so well, always sociable and friendly towards everyone (both the human and feline kind!) - a true testament to the great start in life you gave them both!!!! Life wouldn't be the same without them. Thanks for everything....

Comments:You have the most beautiful Norwegian Forest Cats I have seen on any site and I visit NFC sites every chance I get as they are so lovely to look at.
I have three female cats, two domestic long hairs, and one NFC who is the youngest (2 1/2). I love them all dearly, but the Wegie is the most affectionate, friendly, adorable of them all. She stays with me wherever I am and is such a joy. The other two are typically independent and affection is on their terms. Not my NFC. She is loving all the time and I find myself thinking of her all day while I'm at work because she is so full of personality. (Her name is Trinket). She is so playful and fun...the other two are 11 yrs and 7 yrs old, so she is the "baby".
I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful website and to tell you how much I've enjoyed my visit. I will return often, to enjoy the beautiful photos of your fabulous cats.

Tico is the one in a lifetime cat

Comments:Enjoyed looking at your cats so much! We have a "rescue" cat from the streets of the island in Greece where we live. When the cat matured looking very much like a NFC, we began to ask around, and sure enough, some years back there had been a woman living here on the island who was from Norway, and had brought her male NFC with her. She passed away, and the cat was turned out to the streets, and seems to have spread his seed very well on our island. You see these cats everywhere, but a much smaller version. I would love to have a pedigree MFC, but I just cant seem to make myself do that with all the homeless cats here in Greece....so we will be very happy with our Calico colored NFC Wannabe! S. Kelaidis

Comments:It will be a week tomorrow that I lost my Wegie baby, Magic. He was my loving companion and best friend for 15 yrs. I miss him so much. He was solid black and so beautiful. I loved him dearly as he did me. He had kidney failure and a stroke so he couldn't walk anymore but I took care of him until I knew he was ready to go home. I believe cats are as close as you can get to an angel here on earth and believe I will see him again someday.

Your cats are beautiful. You are blessed.

Comments:Wanted to stop and check out the breed. I've just adopted a stray that the shelter believes to be a Norwegian mix. She very well may be. Beautiful creature. She was a stray.. completely declawed.. so she will be inside with me for sure. She also required a LOT of grooming so I can't waiting until her coat is full again.

Comments:I am a Norwegian living in the outskirts of London and I love the Norwegian Forest Cats. I am very kitten broody at the moment and thought I'd have a look to see if anyone breeds these cats in the UK. Bingo! So I may well be in touch, although I understand that you do not have any kittens at the moment.

I hope these beautiful cats are becoming popular in the UK and wish you the best of luck for the future.

Comments:I have two pedigree Skogs (twins)boy Frey (Forest but Zippy to his friends)girl Freyja ( Fernie ). Of course they are my best babies even though they are now about 6 years.Friendship and maturity have been a long time coming compared with my other cats ( mogs)but is worth it's weight in gold. All who see them comment upon their beauty and fall in love. True to their nature they are outdoor cats and naughty mousers.

Comments:Thought your cats were great. I've got a puss who is either a forest or half a forest. Interestingly she came from one of only 2 towns where they are bred in New zealand!I wonder whether one of them got loose. Anyway she looks like a forest, behaves like a forest ergo she is a forest! Anyway i love her, and am facinated by the breed, and am thinking about importing to NZ from O'seas,

Comments:What a beautiful collection of cat people, I have a cat that someone said was a maine coon, but now I see he is a Wegie, The strande thing is....I live in Australia and I was given him as a kitten by someone who just wanted ot get rid of him..Very strange occurence indeed, He is an unusual cat, because even though he is desexed he is convinced he is the "Mother" of a collection of little stuffed toys. He carries them around and mews like a mother cat....His description matches the Wegie,I am blessed with him.
