| Comments: | Hi Meg,
I voted for the skeletons, but I love your final mural. I also enjoyed seeing you and your children in Olean. One of these days, I will come to Philly to see all of your murals. I just wish I had one iota of your artistic talent. My love to Peter and the children, Aunt Marge |

| Comments: | even though the contest was altered in the election process, i adore the final result.
i too voted for "pink" because as an animal lover, i thought that she dipicted that most families revolve aroun their pets, including them as a family member. those eyes were captavating. the other submissions were more edgy, and deserved a fair chance. although there wasnt a definite winner, everyone should take a step back and realize that this mural truely shows the meaning of family. from the "superhero mom" to the donkeys and cat that bond familys together. once again, great job! |

| Comments: | Great job Meg! This has been an interesting project to see how collaboration and democracy may not be the best way for an artist to express themselves. It seems that people became great defenders of their own separate agendas and even went as far as skewing the vote. If you were to take a step back and really look at the submissions - I believe that Diverse Blocks would win hands down for the best artistic and creative representation of family in the US. I was one who took the vote in popularity to "rig" the vote in favor of a family member's submission (In Too Deep) and got carried away with winning instead of possibly selecting the best choice. What does it all mean for democracy and art? The sarcasm in the final rendition may be your answer. I have concluded that the artist - Meg -would have never dreamed of how the final portrait was revealed and I would love to have seen how her interpretation would have been carried out. Meg - keep up the great work and continue to fight the battle for true artistic creation. We love you Meg, The Derwicks |

| Comments: | Meg this is great! You have captured the frustration of designers and artists who find their original idea to be ruined, or at least largely modified, by the client into an unrecognizable final product. While the donkeys were by far THE MOST PERFECT family, they work nicely with the other top family portraits to get your point across. We should ultimately experience art - learn from it - take it in - appreciate the message. Bravo, Meg. I get it. |

| Comments: | Stay tuned for pictures of the site and comments from the artist. Your comments are both welcomed and heard. This is all about the process. Should we really be voting on art and family values? Are our ideas and art being dilluted for public viewing? |

| Comments: | I am surprised. The top vote getter is not the winner? What is your definition of an election? One contestant enters multiple submissions of the same mannikins in different garb and altogether his votes on all his entries doesn't even come near the votes one lone cat gets. I agree a single cat is not a family but is part of a family. However, the cat won the most votes. Does that fact alone not make him/her the winner by popular choice???? |

| Comments: | Meg,
There was another mural that more abtly reflected your style and the murals you've presented before. I chose this one because the city of Philadelphia appears to be such a black and white city, though, its roots and the depth of its foundation lies far beneath the surface. All the best. Donna. |

| Comments: | “One of these families will end up as a mural on a public wall, and you get to tell us which one.”
The quote above led us and everyone who decided to participate in this “election” to believe the end result would be decided by the amount of votes a candidate received. While it is true we are biased in our desire for Pink to receive her just reward-being the image on the mural ( we are her Aunt and Uncle) our expression of disappointment goes well beyond our personal feelings on the matter. The arts, one of the last refuges of real promise has been delivered a disservice by the organizer of the “election” to change the rules once the process had begun. Apparently their choice was not the lead candidate. |

| Comments: | O.K. Guys, do to time constraints the voting now is for prestige only. There certainly does seem to be a run on Miss Pink. Pink, the donkeys, in too deep, the censored family and the freaky four will all be represented. After all, this is give the people what they want. The percentages of censored family and freky four are very low, but they did get great reception when I walked my board on the streets. Do not worry you donkey and Pink fans, they will be given prominent roles in the composition.
As far as too much sarcasm in the designs: Check out Diverse blocks. Admittedly this project is humorous or satirical. I think this is its strength. There is a lot to talk about out there (I intentionally picked a loaded subject.) I think it is healthy and honest for a temporary public image to have a little satire in it. I love the comments, and Pink has generated quite a stir so I too am now a pink fan. |

| Comments: | I agree with anon. A cat or a group of donkey's does not depict a human family - hello they are animals. I also do not see any artistic view in the photos other than sarcasm. |
