In my area alone which is County Durham in the north east of England 700 jobs are being slashed including many specialist nurses and staff nurses. I have wanted to be self employed for a long time but the UK does not have much scope for nurses when it comes to setting up business (you only need to search the web to see that) However after seeing how progressive the USA is in helping its Entrpreneurial nurses its gived me new spirit. Two years ago I was diagnosed with a malignant blood condition (polycythemia vera)and put on a med called hydroxy urea. The med made me feel really bad and I started to get depressed. I made a decision one day that I wasn't willing to live out my life like that. I started going to Toastmasters to develop my speaking skills and I am persuing a public speaking career to share my experiences and hopefully get people (especially those 18 to 25 years old)to avoid some of the mistakes I made. The Doctor took me off the meds about 2 months ago and is treating the condition by draining a pint of blood when my red cells get to high. \ I am starting to feel better when my site is completed soon I will apply to link with you all. | Comments: | great site! i have been watching and taking care of my grandfather for almost 2 years (he has congestive heart failure, low blood levels of oxygen, on a ventilator, bed ridden), have gone thru many loops with the type of care that he has when im not around, and it has changed my life so much that i want to become a nurse so i can help others too. i started delgado this summer in new orleans for an associates in nursing, and hopefully will be doing charity hospital within two years... one of the hardest things for me being in the program is to be surrounded by so many younger people who have never even looked after someone who has been ill, yet spend all their time studying and scoring better than me, i hope to be in clinicals soon so i can offer and see some payback on my experience, lol! if anyone has any information they'd like to share, my name and address is: Thomas Warnvarnas 143 Rue Esplanade Slidell, La 70461 wonderfull site, thank you! |
