| COMMENTS: | I have seen a great many things in my lifetime. But, to see a guy who wants to copyright a dance, but not just copyright, to also sue people for performing the dance on tv, that's just the pinnacle of jacked up. Really, do you think a court is going to take a case where a lunatic sues a talk show host over a dance said lunatic claims to have invented, disregarding the fact that people have been dancing since time began and are bound to perform similar moves after awhile, seriously? Hey, claim you invented whatever you want. Say you invented the concept of mixing peanut butter with chocolate. Sue Reese's. While you're at it, claim that you copyrighted circular metal objects, hollow in the middle, made of precious metals, designed to be worn on the finger. If you're going to shoot past the realm of gay and into the Super Gay stratosphere, you might as well go all out and claim that you wrote The Wizard of Oz in a dream and it was stolen from your mind. I was pretty ok with trying to lay claim to an actual dance. There's a lunatic on every corner, we get it. But when you decided to start pulling retarded stunts like suing over your completely made-up invention, that's where you crossed an uncanny line into creepiness. Let me guess: you're also going to copyright "the Dancer," and anyone who is referred to as the Dancer will be sued by a guy who obviously has massive funding to hire awesome attornies. As long as they're willing to accept payment in the form of money you made up on a Commodore 64. Wait, did you copyright Commodore, too? Has Lionel Richie been told about this? Oh no, what if a Commodore does the Electric Slide? It would be anarchy! All of that being said, just because you've literally told yourself that lie so much that you actually believe yourself, that doesn't mean the entire rest of the world isn't going to view you as a complete lunatic who should probably be kept away from sharp objects. |

| COMMENTS: | Nice site. You've had a neat career. Just heard the NPR show on the electric slide. I wouldn't worry to much about the alterations in the slide. It's inevitable. The culture takes something and modifies it. That's how blues became jazz and rock, etc. You've made a cultural contribution that has made hundreds of thousands of people very joyous at weddings and birthdays all over the country for decades. How many people can say that? When someone does the modified version at a wedding smile and realize how happy they are. Otherwise, it would be like having joyous sex with someone and stopping them in the middle and saying, "You're doing it wrong!" The person could rightfully say, "Hello, I was enjoying myself here.
