Junior - your death and my 30th birthday were two days apart - two days that were significant to me. But you introduced me to blues harp and Buddy Guy when I was a kid, and that changed my life. I have traveled many miles, and played with some of the best, including the closest talent to yours I have ever heard, Dogmess Jonny Evans from Athens GA. Rest in Peace, Sir.

A great among greats. As a contemporary of "liquid-tremelo" Cary Bell, and "power-house" James Cotton , Wells' hard-edged tone, and concisely phrased improvisations made him the premier living blues harpist for over thirty years.

One day in january of 1998, I just "thought" about Junior Wells. Why hadn't I listened to him lately? I got up and started digging out all his albums them. This went on for over a week, just playing Junior Wells playing. Then I stopped. I learned somewhere a few days later that he had just died. I had met him a few times---just regular stuff. Not a week goes by now that i don't think of him.
