A guy at a music store at home here in Boise, Idaho told me that Jr. Wells had bought my red Gibson 345. I did not know who he was. Someone had installed a 3d pickup on it so I had it removed and the space filled. In 1995 after driving across Nevada on the job to Reno, I saw way up high on a billboard in lights "Junior Wells and Buddy Guy" at the Peppermill Hotel. I have tried to play blues guitar for 43 years and piano for 25 and my inspirations are Muddy, Pinetop, BB, and on and on plus the b3 players and piano players. A week ago I saw Junior on Youtube for the first time. I should have gone to sse him at the Pepermill in Reno and Ray at Lake Tahoe too. The woman that taught me blues piano died from lymphoma at 33. I love Juniors music and style. What a magnificant man. His music will live on.

I am sending this out to any and all of daddy's children, and we all know who we are. I would like for us to connect so that we can get to know and learn more about each other. Daddy has been gone for some 11-years and I just feel like it's time for us to do a tribute to him or something. I truly hope some of you frequent this website and if so please drop a note if you are down. I LOVE YOU WITH ALL OF MY HEART DADDY..YOUR BABY GIRL.

Junior - your death and my 30th birthday were two days apart - two days that were significant to me. But you introduced me to blues harp and Buddy Guy when I was a kid, and that changed my life. I have traveled many miles, and played with some of the best, including the closest talent to yours I have ever heard, Dogmess Jonny Evans from Athens GA. Rest in Peace, Sir.

A great among greats. As a contemporary of "liquid-tremelo" Cary Bell, and "power-house" James Cotton , Wells' hard-edged tone, and concisely phrased improvisations made him the premier living blues harpist for over thirty years.

One day in january of 1998, I just "thought" about Junior Wells. Why hadn't I listened to him lately? I got up and started digging out all his albums them. This went on for over a week, just playing Junior Wells playing. Then I stopped. I learned somewhere a few days later that he had just died. I had met him a few times---just regular stuff. Not a week goes by now that i don't think of him.
