It was the fall of 1966, and I was a college freshman who got turned on to East-West, and turned on by it. Now 59, i listen to Mike again, and am more than ever before convinced that he was simply the greatest. Sorry we lost you so young, Mike.

Michael, I first saw you in SF at the Fillmore and have loved you and your music ever since. We talked many times and I'm so sorry I never got to know you better. You were the best, most soulful guitarist I have ever heard; then and still today. A beautiful soul. I wish you were here.

Dear Michael,
What you have done for all of those people over the years is no doubt some of the greatest things any person have ever done. Without you I do not think I would still be playing Guitar. Every time I play the Guitar, Harmonica, Drums, Piano, Sing, whatever, I think of Michael Bloomfield.
I hope you are watching down on all of us and laughing and saying man, what a bunch of crazy cats. But then I hope you look at me and know I am working for it, and am trying my hardest, and I hope you say someday I'm gonna play Blues with him.
Someday soon Michael I will see you, please be plugged in, I'll bring my gear.

Sincerely,
Zack. (15).

P.S. Happy Birthday Michael.

Stumbled upon ( literally) a copy of " Super Session" back
in 1980. On the floor of a burnt out barn, that is where this kid from Long Island found it. ( Coulda' been the other way around , maybe)
How many folks walked right on by? Never to know what lay there before them. So I took it home, and could not believe
what I heard emanating from those speakers. That changed EVERYTHING.

The other day while making noise on my Les Paul.
My 6 year old asked me where I learned to play the Guitar.
I thought to myself. Jeeze kiddo, if you only knew...
Thanks Mike... Some day my 6 year old just may stumble
upon that record too.

Anyone fortunate enough to see the Paul Butterfield Blues Band in person will never forget it or forget this unbelievable musician's guitar work. I saw him about 1966 at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beac, Cal, on consecutive nights and each night when they launched into "Born in Chicago", Mike Bloomfield just destroyed the whole club with this solos...I've seen many, many blues shows since then but nothing could match the sheer force and stage presence of that immortal group. This guy had "it", folks.

I've been sitting in my office today listening to the concerts that are on Wolfgang's Vault. Some of your solo shows, along with The Eectric Flag shows. I still am just amazed at your playing after all these years, and East West, forget about it. It's so over the top it still gives me goose bumps 37 years after I first purchased it. I've been clean over 14 years in NA, I wish you could have gotten it, you would still be around today.
PEACE&LOVE Michael

I was playing the Super Session album one afternoon when I heard a knock on my apartment door. I opened it to see a young man from the third floor wearing a bewildered look. I asked if I could help him and he replied,"the music". I inquired if it was too loud to which he asked "who is playing the guitar?" You had already left us by then but for that young man, you had just arrived. Peace.

Hey Michael,
I've known your music for all of my live now and it still is a great pleasure hearing it! None of my friends - all music lovers - had heard of you: I know it's a shame, but now thy're all Bloomfield lovers!
I've read the interview biography and I could see you sittin' down in Pepper's Lounge or some other bar on the South Side just listenin' to all them great bluesmen of Chicago! Wish I could have been there with you!
You should be with us these days!
May you rest in peace! Perhaps you can teach me some chords one time!
See you,
Niklas B
