 Wow, I never considered where Miles was laid to rest. What a surprise that it's the Bronx! His life was worldwide. He fell in love in Paris; formed as a boy in East St. Louis; made Malibu his base; invented new music in San Francisco, and on and on. Finally, he claims The Bronx? I think it shows how little we control what happens after we pass away. His remains may be in the Bronx but his Spirit roams the world!

Every time I pick up my trumpet I'm striving to play like you, when I'm soloing I'm trying to sound like you which will never happen because you were so unique with your improv. (Molde Jazzfestival 1985, Nice Jazzfestival 1986, Oslo/Sardines 1987 and 1988 and finally North Sea Jazzfestival 1990).
Every time I do ounderstood more about music and life.
As a composer and mucissian (guitar) I could not do what I do today without the art gift from Miles Davis.

I only wish I had seen you play live. I hope one day there will be a decent DVD of one or several of your performances. That would be great.  Miles, you are the one and onliest. I've given copies of "Kind of Blue" to more people than I can count and it changed all of them. Cool had no meaning until you and only a precious few carry the mantel today. But, it's still yours. A friend once said that I was the coolest person he knew. When I asked him how he had come to such a strange conclusion, he told me it was because he first heard your music in my apartment. Thirty years later I still don't know what to make of that.
