During the 70s, whenever he was in town, we would hang together and I came to call him my friend. Aside from his playing, I couldn't get past the fact that, though it worked well, his equipment LOOKED like crap! Not just his guitar, his amplifiers as well.
We drifted and lost touch, then when the computer came into my house I decided to try and find him. To my shame and dismay, I found that he had left us some years earlier, I just didn't know. So, to you my friend, you are still in my heart, which means to me you will never be gone...but I DO miss you. | |

Saw him first in the late 70'ies until the last tour after "Fresh Evidence" in Hannover/Germany. Sad to see him becoming more and more unhealthy. I saw Rory in concert in 1978 (Offenbach). We had a great time there and I've remained a true fan of his music ever since. Too bad he had to die so early. We found his grave in Ballincollig on our trip to Ireland in 2008. It did not feel right - I kept thinking: "He can't be here. I can still listen to his music." The locals who pointed the way to his gravesite seemed a bit amused at the continued interest in RG years after his death. | |

I was 16 years old making out with a girl named Roz on the couch in the P's house and with the old hifi stereo's, that finished an album side and started it again at the first song, played Sinner and Saint Side 2 about 20 times. Crest of a wave...In 1986 I was breaking up with a girl named Kim(her doing) and "I fall apart" came on my cassette player and that song is, to this day remembered by that sad drive home from Pella windows were I worked. I'm 45 years old and am a huge lover of music and know some of, if not all of the best ever written and no one, NO ONE can write a song like Rory and in my opinion, no one will ever be able too. When Rory died, I raced through my memory box and found the ticket stub from June 7 of 1983(at Metro on Clark St just a block away from Wrigley Field) and had it framed and matted with his obituary...It is my most prized possession. Also, I made one big picture of all of Rory's albums. I framed 12 of them and placed them on a piece of plywood and framed that with casing. There are 10 children in my family and have 6 older brothers. They loved Rory and he was always playing on the Reel to Reel and album...you could say I have been listening to Rory my ENTIRE life. First saw Rory at the Lincoln Pop Festival in May 1972 and many times after that. What a guitarist, what a performer but above all what a true gentle man. Talent balanced by humility, kindness and respect always tranmitted to his audience during live performances and intereviews. A great bluesman so sadly missed.

During my recent trip to the Cork region, I went to visit Rory Gallagher's grave in Ballincollig. It was easy to locate due to its unusual (and beautiful) headstone design which stands out among all other plain stones in the cemetery. The cheap junk that had been left on RG's grave was a disgrace. Still, I was glad to have been there and took some nice pictures home. Ireland is worth a trip. | |

I grew up listenening to your music and It got me through my early years when I was surrounded by Disco and Musicals. Everyone would turn their head sideways when I played Shin Kicker or Calling Card on the 8 track player in the car. I found out in 1999 that you passed and final had seen live footage from the Montreaux sereies of concerts. You are sadly missed in my life.Thank you for exsisting as long as you did. | |

One of the true greats of 20th century popular music. For me 'Walk on Hot Coals' from 'Irish Tour '74' remains one of the finest rock recordings of all time. Saw him twice (Leeds Uni and The Rainbow Theatre) in the mid-seventies, and will never forget those concerts. As a previous signer has said, I will be playing his records till the day I die. | |

I was at one of his concerts in 1977 or 1978 in Frankfurt/Germany. It was a great concert. Gallagher was a lively and untiring performer - I distinctly remember his blue and white plaid shirt which was flying along with him as he jumped from one side of the stage to the other. The concert was sold out and everybody was "roryng" with him. We knew all of his songs by heart. On the dark side, however, I recall that he drank alot of beer during that night (but never appeared drunk). He was so handsome - great hair ;) - and talented. Later the alcohol took its apparent toll on him and his voice, too, which was already noticeable during the second concert I attended in 1991, I believe. Such a waste of a human being and talent. I will always remember him as he was in the 70's. | |

I drove an 18-Wheeler allover the U.S. for a couple of years and one of my favorite CD's to JAM OUT to whilst jamming the gears was 'Fresh Evidence'. That one just gave me a ton of energy, helped me get to my next stop. That one also hit me in the gut, it is brimming with soul.
