King Albert is simply my favourite musician of all time. A unique perfectionist while playing, he was just as much at ease with the audience as he was tough on fellow musicians. One time I saw him at a riverfront blues bar in St. Louis; in between sets he exited out the back door to....um, "refresh" in his tour bus for the second set. But instead of returning through that door, he walked all the way around the block so he could re-enter through the club's front door & mingle with patrons on the way to the stage. Surprised, I only had the presence of mind to simply say "Nice set!" & shake the man's (huge) hand. He glowed like a light had been turned on inside him. Thanks, Albert, there's no one like ya.

I saw Albert in Sunderland in the UK in the summer of '92 just before he died on his last european tour. The man was and still is a genius. You only have to listen to a couple of alberts' licks and you know that's Albert, there is no other guitarist that is so identifable.

I remember the great SRV once introduce Albert on to the stage for a rendition of The Sky is Crying, "The first time I ever heard this song and the last time I'll ever play it I'll be thinking of Mr Albert King". Great Man, Great Music, Great Blues... God Bless Albert King

I saw Albert a few times in Chicago. One time at a small club,at intermission,He looked at me and said something like "You know all my songs, you're singing along with me". Well, we went out side and I had a smoke. He had his tour bus there, and he took out this jug of something and we had a few swigs of it. Wow,I'm drinking with the King!!! Not only was He a great bluesman,He was a real down to earth nice guy! We miss you Albert!

I recently downloaded the set from the closing of the Fillmore East (1971-06-27) and was reminded of the greatness of this towering figure in the world of the electrified blues guitar.

Living in the country now, and relying on wood as my primary source of heat in the winter, as I engage in the otherwise mundane chore of cutting firewood I will be able to entertain myself by singing verses of "CROSSCUT SAW" as I drag the rapidly moving chain across the log. My Husqvarnas cut my wood so easy I can't help but say, "HOT DOG!"

Thank you, Albert, for all the great tunes and pickin'!

First time I saw you perform was at East High school in Denver,Colo. in 1968.You were sitting out in the audience seats near the rear of auditorium,in fact the seat right behind mine,You was resting out there because there was no lounge.I did"nt know you were back there, and I told my buddies I was there with that you the Greatest bluesman alive and that given a chance I'd be your roadie,Well right at that moment you gave up a nice chuckle and said thank you for the complement, and said if I wanted I could carry your gear out to the bus after the gig!I did and it was an privelage. It was agreat show, small audience but hard blues heads.I saw you play dozens of times though-out my life and legend grew and grew, the last time we met you were playing at Lone Star in Manhatten you not feeling well and had sick, you were in one of back rooms trying to stay warm, but you still had time for a short chat and still had that great smile.about a month later you left this world and hope with all my heart it is better place you went. You where a kind and gental man,and an Honest to God Blues Giant.I still listen to your blues at least every other day or so,and always remember how HEAVY that was. Thanks Man!
