My favorite memory....Had a buddy in the Army in the mid 60s, he said he drove from the East Coast to the West Coast in his '58 Bonneville convertible listening to Jimmy Reed on 8 track ALL THE WAY!

Aw, Jimmy....you don't have to go.

Jimmy was the starting point for ALL blues/rock guitarits. Antone who says different is a liar. I was a surfer and my cousins were L.A. 'cruisers ' the one thing we had in common was J. Reeds album. (the black cover V-Jay ). We all understood Big Boss Man and still do.

I learned to play guitar from listening to Jimmy Reed. Many nights copying the tunes from my record player. Still listen to Jimmy today when I'm cold and lonesome.

From someone who didnt grow up listening to the blues but spanish music was a total change of life when I first listened to Jimmy Reed "Honest I Do"....and "Tell Me You Love Me"....I inmediatly got into the old blues makers and Jimmy stayed in one of my all time favourites.

That man was one of a kind and certainly his music was easily accepted by all kinds of audiences and very well composed, full of joy and emotion, I feel sad he had to struggle much about his problems and didnt keep living to receive all the honours, homages and titles he deserved.

You'll never be forgotten Reed.

Jimmy Reed touched my heart the first time I heard his music in the early 60s and I carried his music with me throughout my lifetime. He seemed to be the only person in this world that understood my pain and eased it somewhat as I listened. I am saddened that he struggled so much too. Maybe I will hear him in person on the other side, I certainly hope so.

Thank you Mr. Reed
love

I first saw Jimmy perform in 1954,55 at the Atlanta City Auditorium. Boogie In The Dark was his biggie then. He brought the house down with Baby You Don't Have To Go.
I have lots of Jimmy Reed stories. I met him through John Lee Hooker and Eddie Taylor. The three of them were playing in Atlanta . I ask John Lee if he would play for some friends over by the apartment. He said he would love to.

I am a piano player and big fan of reed. I have been listening since 1969. His boogie and use of turnarounds is musically pleasing. I study his work and would like to learn more .I have mastered babywhat you want me to do and am working on aw shucks.
