I only do what I want to, I never did what I had should. Hats off in memory of Otis Spann- I only stole what I need to use, that is to say, the Blues.

Otis,My Man!! In my opinion you were the greatest blues pianist. You sat beside Muddy Waters for eighteen years, he often called you his brother.Few if any had the touch you had. 'Otis in the Dark', is one of the many musical highlights you've left me, you passed this way all to soon. Thanks for a lifetime of music..

God gave the blues world a great gift. Tonight I am listing to a concert in Copenhagen, Denmark where Otis was playing with Muddy. My love of the blues, mostly revolves around this man. God bless him

Well Otis, I am here in Johannesburg, South Africa. The other night I listened to "Ain't Half Been Told" and it struck such a chord with me and the history of South Africa. Rest in Peace. You're a legend.

Spann was the first blues piano player I ever heard - I bought that old folkways record with the depression era car loaded with chairs and furniture on the cover - bought it three or four times, in fact. What a player! What a singer! the man had a heart full of soul
