| Comments: | Our family was stationed in Okinawa from 1974 - 1977. We lived in the Quonset Huts in Morgan Manor and used to spend weekends playing at the pool, theater, game room, and beaches (and booney grass) by Torii Station.. They were condemning the quonset huts as we moved and I understand a super highway and mall may be there now. I went to Kadena Middle School (the old one, near the gate that led to Koza) while we were there. Never attended Kubasaki - moved back to the states for my freshman year. I loved it there - pictures make me wonder if it has turned touristy? I am seeing my best friend from Okinawa for the 1st time in 32 years this week! Can't wait - awesome memories there! |

How about getting several days off school when a storm was forcast .... and having to stack all of the books and material on the shelves to keep them dry? ... Or the sight of all the rusted Navy assult craft stuck on the reefs ...
Life was wonderful .... all summer at the beach ... Boy Scout camping trips ... The roller rink at Kadena ... sneaking around the flight line ... peeking into parked aircraft? ... I came back to the states at the end of my sophomore year so I may not be remembered. I'm having a big nostalgia surge and have been browsing all the great Okinawa/Kubasaki websites. It's so nice that so many people have kept in touch.
On a sad note, I saw the news about Richard Nishida's untimely death. He was in a few of my classes and I always liked him very much. He was a kind and gentle soul and always had a good word for everyone. I hope to hear from some of my friends from so long ago. All emails are welcome. |

| Comments: | Talk about a small world. I was at a party Saturday night. During dinner, talk focused on backgorunds. I happened to mention that I had graduated from High School Okinawa. One of the wives at the table, asked if I had attended Kubasaki High? I told her I graduated in '64. turns out that she graduated in '65. We both attended Kubasaki together in '63 and '64. We are both in the yearbook, and although we didn't know each other, have mutual friends from KHS. In 43 years, this is the first time, I have ever met anyone face to face that attended KHS during any of the years I did. Turned out to be a great party after all. |

| Comments: | I was brousing and ran across this wonderful website about Kubasaki and K-9. Oh how, I remember both schools well, and all the friends I made.
I attended K-9 during the 71-72 school year (I was also a member of the pep squad for the Kadena Chiefs that year) and was a sophomore at Kubasaki 72-73. My dad was station at Kadena. We lived the first year at Oki Baru, Yomitan, and then moved into base housing on Kadena. I spent a lot of time with my friends riding at the Kadena stables, bowling or at the Outrigger or Trade Winds snack bars. Oh and let's not forget Nakagusku Castle or Kin Blue. I am married, have 3 children, 12 grandchildren and we live on a farm in North Carolina. We have laying hens, horses, dogs, cats, and rodeo stock (calves, bulls, horses, etc.) My brother, Dennis Daddysman attended Kubasaki from 71-74 when he graduated. He played sports, baseball, football and basketball, the whole time my dad was stationed at Kadena. He is retired Air Force and lives in Glouster Point, Va. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers either of us. I have actually thought about taking a trip back to show my family all the old haunts. |

I just found out about this site from another woman who was a dependent in Okinawa about 10 years after I left. I met her in jordan valley, oregon, where I now live. | Comments: | I landed at Kadena in the summer of 1960 on a C-54 driven by propellers. We left for the states on Mother's Day 1964 on a Boeing 707 with jet engines. What changes in 4 years!
I attended Kubasaki 4 years and graduated 1964. I played Football and Baseball for the Kadena Falcons, and ran Track for Kubasaki. One of my favorite fighter pilot heroes of WWII was Col. Francis Gabreski. He was stationed at Kadena flying F-100s. I shook in my shoes the day I got to meet him. Got to date his daughter Djoni too. I belonged to the Explorer Post on Kadena, as well as the PYO. I returned to Kadena as an Air Force Sergeant in the summer of 1968, and rotated back to the states in August 1969. One of the things I loved most about Okinawa and the military bases there, is that there was no way you could ever get bored. There was so much to do, it boggles the mind to think about it. I will never forget my experiences/adventures and the people I met and were friends with on that little Island. Only 65 miles long and 18 miles wide at the widest, and yet, except for the day I married my wife, the most memorable times of my 58 years. |

I settled in Hawaii in 1982, and have been sailing/traveling the world ever since; I've achieved several world records in big-boat sailing (maxi's) and trans-oceanic powerboat racing. I also do research & development for marine engines & electronics, other high-tech systems & computers. My brothers Dale Tucker (K-9 & class of 76), & Mark Tucker (Kadena Intermediate) settled in Ft. Walton Beach, FL (outside Eglin AFB). They are both professional "motorheads": Dale, designs/builds racing dragsters, stock cars, classic cars & is buying up North Florida real estate. Mark builds & machines competition ciggarett boats, jet skiis, race cars & motorcycles. Mark did the "Maimi Vice boat" years ago, and is recently recovered from cancer... he is currently seeking new opportunitites as an expert machinist. In fact if instead of divvying up KHS and playing each other every year, I'd be willing to stack our "team" against ANY state-side team during that time. Just wanted to tell everyone how HAPPY I am to be back in Hawaii. I lived @ Ft. Shafter, 1971 to 1974, right after graduation, but moved back to California after that. I spent 27 years there, met my husband, Marc, had a daughter, Emily (now 19) and now I am back for good. Emily is attending UH Hilo this year and then on to UH Manoa in fall 2002. We live in the Ninole area, renting a house, but buying a lot and building our last house. Mele Kalikimaka to one and all. |

| Comments: | Hello Gang. I'm from the Kubasaki class of 1965. I am now living in Sterling, Virginia, a suburb of DC. I work at the Pentagon - in fact, I was in the Pentagon when the crash occurred Sept 11. An event like that sure makes you step back and think of what is important in life. I've decided that something that is important to me is attending a Kubasaki High School Reunion. So I hope to see everyone in the next year. |

I just wanted to let you know that I was a yearbook photographer during the years that I was at KHS and I have hundreds of photos that did not get used in the year book, and I still have the photos and the negatives! So I just wanted to let all those that went to KHS during 1974-1977 that I'm sure I have at least 1 or more of your photos taken and still in my files. I also lived in Las Vegas for over 13 years and at the moment I'm overseas so I could not make it to the bash. But I have heard for other classmates that next year there will be a 25 year reunion in Las Vegas, so I need more information on it to plan to for it? Danny |

I always thought that one of the characteristics of a military brat was that we not only made friends quickly, but we also left the past behind quickly and easily.
