| Comments: | Kudos! I really like odonata's sound. I am a classically trained singer myself (just recently graduated from a voice performance degree at Wilfrid Laurier in Ontario), and have been musing with the idea of lending my "trained voice" to other types of music like 70's rock, folk, techno. Really like your fusion of sounds. I disagree partially with the earlier comment that you aren't fusing well. I think you are. I do agree, that you have yet to come into your own -- but keep exploring, and in the meantime I've really enjoyed the musical results. Congrats on making headway into another genre. (For the record, I don't think you gals sound like Brightman -- she doesn't support, and her voice isn't very big. Anyway, not a fan...) Thanks!

Don is truly a great composer, and has a feel for "painting" a song much as a painter brushes his vision. Along with truly atmospheric imagery called in his lyrics, are the angelic voices of the Sirens (Ren & Anna), recalling the best of progressive classical rock from the 70's & 80's. Best to you Odonata, you'll fly with the highest on silver wings... |

| Comments: | As a classical DJ for KMNR Rolla, 89.7 FM, I was excited to hear this new music. There's a lot of talent involved here, and that talent does not go unnoticed. I applaud Odonata for stepping out on a limb and singing something different. And I love the singing. That's what makes this music.
But I must stop short of the unbridled praise others have been doling out. Very little of this is original; in fact, some of it is downright derivative. I've heard all the guitar work before, most of it ten or more years ago, and the percussion that hints at tribal normally falls back into a rut. The songwriting tries to be lyrically deep, but misses. Don't construe this criticism as hatred. There's a lot of potential here, once you've matured some more as artists and found something unique. But right now, it's just the combination of several styles the don't combine very well. This can all be worked out; like I said, the talent is there; but you have to let yourself grow beyond what still sounds way too much Enya with an MC. |

My name is Nocturna, a dj at a radio station called KTUH 90.3 in Honolulu. Thanks for the email and introducing me to your music. You guys are great !!!! Your operatic and angelic voices are beautiful and mesmerizing. The first thought that came to mind is Craig Armstrong's Canto. Thank you for bringing great music to the planet. |

| Comments: | Hi there,
Very talented and unique... what you guys are doing it's like a new tempo in the music history. I'm a fan of "opera" and one of my favorite is that young lady with her charmant voice who's name is Charlotte Church. You guys sound just like her but in a different way. Please let me know when this cd will come out. I will not hesitate to buy one. As a radio Broadcaster I know what I'm talking about. You guys sound really great... genial and superb. Good luck to you all! Jean Pierre |

| Comments: | A tale of two voices
Operatic rock is a slippery creature at the best of times. Master its nuances with powerful grace, and you're still only about one-tenths of the way towards the heaven which the likes of Dream Theater inhabit. Go slightly off the scales though, and you're just one hair spray away from coming off all Winger and Poison-like - totally over-the-top and not a little worse for wear either. Odonata certainly don't belong to the latter, with 'Snapshot' turning the lens on a band exploring their own potential. Odonata's USP is, undoubtedly, the presence of two female lead singers. And when those lead singers posses voices of contrasting pitch and depth, it's an interesting exercise in finding the right harmony. Ren Kennedy's is the more powerful voice of the two, and she begins this tale of memory gems which life seems to throw up at random. The second verse introduces Anna Bateman, her glistening crystal delivery a nice contrast to Ren's deliberate mellowness. The guitar solo at the end of the second verse is pure Whitesnake, with Jozef Pilasanovic following the song's message to the letter by himself proving a heady snapshot of some of the '80s finer moments. Unfortunately, the band dabble with mediocrity towards the end, with the interplay between the two vocalists sounding incoherent and unfocused. The trite lyrics during this final part don't help either. Odonata would have increased the song's appeal manifold by simply letting the instruments close Snapshot out, especially given the cool, ocean-vibe soundscape which keyboardist Don Stagg had created for most of the duration. This is a good time for drama and decibels to mix, as Evanescence have proven so emphatically. After Snapshot, Odonata are about a couple of songs away from bringing themselves to life. | Comments: | It is really different, which these days there is so little out there that is truly different. The combination of a traditional vocal style with techno edge overtones is not something I can say has been done allot. Great Job. |

| Comments: | Echoing Bryan, not really my cup of tea either - but interesting. I think I'd prefer it if it were more instrumental and less of the airy-fairy singing. Good luck!! |

| Comments: | Great stuff. Really really moving with a solid production. So glad to see a foundation of real musicians and instruments integrated with synthetic sounds and textures. You make the kind of music I wish I could make!
The three tracks show an interesting variety of tone and tempo, as well as different moods. Best of luck in getting a recording contract. Would love to get a copy of your cd(s) when they are available. |
