I realise it is well past Christmas - in fact it is 30 days into Lent, and I have been off of the Guinness for three weeks now, still that's no bad thing I suppose.

I have only just now discovered this site, and right glad I am as well, and I am looking forward to eploring it and maybe finding out more about our clan.

On a more personal note, I myself am a second generation Gallagher, on my Mother's side; she is from Castlebar in county Mayo, and my Father's from the city of Limerick:
I was born in Richmond upon Thames, where I still live, during the second world war in 1943 (auld git) but I am as fit as a kitten, and exercise regularly on my static bycycle four times a day and I keep the local greengrocer in business with all the fruit and vegetables I buy off of him.

My grandfather John Gallacher was born in Aryshire, Scotland of a farming family. He was 1 of a twin and given away at birth so he never spoke of his birth family to much except to tell us he was one of 8 children and all his siblings were very tall - brothers over 6' but my grandpa was only 5'3". He came to Canada to Hamilton and then Toronto when he was 16 aprox 1910/11. He married my Grandmother - Mary Jaffray from Stirling and they had 5 children - John,Alex,Robert,(all deceased)Isobel,Helen.
Alex was my father. I would love to find family of my Grandfather's siblings.

I found my Gallaghers in Shegorey, County Roscommon two years ago. My great great grandparents were Peter Gallagher and Catherine Sheerin. Peter's sister Mary married Catherine's brother Laurence. So all of the children were double cousins. The Sheerins migrated to New York in the 1850s and were followed by their Gallagher cousins in the 1860s. Three Gallagher girls and one Sheerin boy moved west to Nevada. One son stayed home in Shegorey to run the farm. His great grandson is still there.

My great-grandmother was Margaret Gallagher Berry , My favorite poets and writers often were irish, and my father who was a poet used to sing Irish songs, was He also played the flute when he got older. I always felt he had Irish in him, and when I was a teenager he moved our family to a predominantly Irish suburb, and even the name of our street was an Irish name-Tralee Drive. Greetings:		Hello everyone. My friends call me Kathy. I have been researching my ancestry. You know it sounds so strange, but I have always known that I was of Irish descent. My father, Beecher Gollihue, didn't know this nor did any of his family but I just knew that I was Irish. While researching the name Gollihue, I was able to trace it back to a James Gollihue born sometime prior to 1695 in France. He left France and moved to Prince William County in Virginia, United States of America in the early 1700's. I had trouble tracing the spelling "Gollihue" when I would pull up Irish Ancestry and began to think that my believing that I was Irish was WRONG. However, friends of mine recently had the opportunity to go to Ireland and while they were there, they learned that the name Gollihue was actually derived from the names Gallchobhair, Gallagher and O'Gallagher. When I tried pulling up this name under Irish ancestry, it immediately pulled up your website. I AM IRISH!!!!!!! While I realise that this greeting is coming rather late for Christmas, I still wanted to wish all of my CLANN good days ahead, excellent health and a wonderful new year.
