Hi thanks for stopping by....I'm Paula Petals one of the founders of Ohio Friends. I have been with this group from the beginning. I remember how my life was before a social group for people with herpes and or HPV exitised here in Ohio; because of that, I am dedicated to seeing that this group remains active for you and others who may find themselves in need of support or friendship. You may notice that there's a lot of things different on the Ohio Friends web site. We are down sizing hoping to make it easier for our members to find something to do in Ohio. We have a new personals page and a new visitors formum waiting for your ad or post. You may remember Ohio Friends having 7 chapters across the state. We no longer have any chapters. Originally it was a good idea in theory but in reality it wasn't practical. Too many email addresses, not enough chapter leaders and not much participation from our members. It just didn't work. Ohio Friends still plans on meeting in different parts of the state; not just in Columbus. Keep in mind we have planned events in other cities; many times with great results. Starting in November we will announce next years events. If you have suggestions or comments on where events should be held and/or what kind of event you would most like to attend, please send your comments to me at PaulasPetals@hotmail.com In closing I would like to say something about our annual event -- the Masque. It is the national event for Ohio Friends. This is our sixth year. We work very hard in planning this event. Over the years we've made many mistakes but that is behind us. I've spoken with other hosts of national events and they have found that the key is in the planning and group participation from members. Therefore, your participation is key to Ohio Friends success! In the beginning our ticket prices were from $55 up to $75. We use to have a sit down dinner and a live DJ. However we've learned that expensive isn't always the best. This year our ticket price is $20 per night and our hotel room rate is $64 per night. We have gone out of our way to get the lowest price possible for our members and friends hoping we can count on your participation to make this a great event!
