| Comments: | Rolly Soper has done a fantastic job in building this Web Site for KVA and I congratulate him on his dedication and hard work. One further comment that could be looked at in the future and possibly implemented in future is have to put together an alphabetical list of members (and perhaps non members??) of KVA as part of the Site so that we could use it to contact old pals we had in Korea. There are many guys who I knew there who I would like to write, phone, or see and he may only be a couple of hundred miles away. I would think this idea has been considered already and I support it. It's just a matter of getting cooperation of all Units to send in names, Unit in Korea, and address for the record. Thanks for letting make this suggestion. Les Pike Ottawa |

| Comments: | Hi! I want to thank you for creating this website. I'm one of many Canadian teachers living in Korea. It's a wonderful place to be! All Koreans treat you a whole lot better when they know you are Canadian! My students and the many Korean friends I have are very thankful for the efforts made by the Canadians who fought and sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom. The veterans who come back here in 2003 are in for quite a shock when they see how developed Korea has become and find out how nice the people are here to Canadians! My father served with the Princess Patricia's light brigade during the war and I'm so happy that he'll be coming over for the 2003 pilgrimage and my wedding this summer in Seoul! By the way, the new monument in the UN cemetary in Pusan is wonderful...the documentary shown there is also very moving. I strongly encourage any Korean vets out there to come back and visit. Until then , cheers! |

| Comments: | I am organizing a Special Event at Briarwood Public School in Mississauga. We have a Korean Highlight to underscore our school's ethic diversity (37 languages / dialects spoken). While doing my research on Korean, I discovered that we have the Korean Veterans' Wall and I thought that it would be ideal to have a display on the Wall during our event. I think that this is wonderful and I think that we should remind our kids about the brave Canadian troops that fought in Korea and what they fought for. |

Can anyone help with pictures, stories etc. Sorry, don't know company number but know he was a signaller & was qualified as a paratrooper in 1 RCR. Also he re-enlisted in 1953 & served with RC Sigs until 1956. He had his 20th birthday on the boat over (Apr 29/51). Great web site!! Glad I found it. Korean Vets have been overlooked for too long, although I do admit to being just a bit biased. I've read all the books published re Canadians in Korea -- Melady, Bercuson etc. are there any others? Perhaps something like a regimental history from RCR?? Hoping to hear from you. |

I'm an international student from South Korea and I happened to take the presentation of Canadian Role in Korean War. In Korea, U.S. is like the only country helped Korea although men and women from 16 countries all shared their blood for our freedom. I'm very amazed by Canadian effort in Korean war and I'd like to thank you Korean war veterans allowing us to enjoy this freedom on behalf of Koreans of Ridley College. | Comments: | I've been looking over this website, very impressive! I'm doing a project for my history class and I've chosen to do the Korean war (as opposed to WW2). My grandpa (from England) who died a few years ago was in the Korean war, and I'm very interested to learn more about it. This project, as well as being information about the war, is supposed to involve more of a personal component and we are supposed to try to speak with a veteran who might be willing to share their experience. I was hoping that somebody might be willing me to e-mail me any kind of information they were willing to give. (e-mail address above) I am looking forward to learning more and already from looking over this site, I have developped a huge amount of respect for all of the Korean War veterans. Thank you. |

We also know Admiral Collier was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for exemplary duty at sea on the HMCS CAYUGA We also know Admiral Collier's progression continued with successful appointments as Canadian Naval Attaché in Washington DC., Commander Maritime Forces Pacific, and Commander Maritime Command in Halifax NS. During this period, Admiral Collier was made a Commander of the Order of Military Merit for 35 years of meritorious service and received a second clasp to the Canadian Forces Decoration. Upon retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1979, Admiral Collier's career continued with his appointment as Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard. Reflecting upon his days gone by in his life, it think it is important that he has the opportunity to speak with some of you in the Maritimes. He is the most wonderful person I ever met in my life, I love him very dearly and he is my best friend. Living in Toronto and being so far away from my Dad breaks my heart. I would really appreciate it if I could some general info on how he can contact the Halifax location. |

Does anyone know the whereabouts of Private Roy Fischbach, who served in Korea in 1951 and who wrote a letter we have a copy of? And is there anyone out there who still copies of letters they (or friends or relatives) wrote that mention Kapyong? We'd be very grateful if you got in touch with us by email or call Paul Grescoe collect at (604) 947-9182. We want the book to honour the veterans of Korea along all those of the other wars, and we still need more letters, please. Your contributions will be in good, respectful company. | Comments: | Just prior to flying from Iwakuni Japan to korea we (DLI) were trained by a detachment of the PPCLI. they were a great bunch of lads and the 'Little' lieutenant who ran our show was the hardest man I've ever met. as well as being tough he was also the fairest man I've ever met, wish I could recall his name. he pushed us so hard but he was always there with us doing the same tasks. I remember once waiting to fall in for the march to the cookhouse when a squad of heavy infantry 'ambled' past us, the DLI is a very fast marching outfit, but so is Princess Pats and this was just the sort of challenge he loved he roared at us to get fell in and pass the slovenly 'Bs'needless to say we were sittind down when they arrived at the cookhouse. Great Bunch, lovely memories. thanks for giving me the space to reminisce |

| Comments: | This paragraph is not only inaccurate, but misleading, "struck Canadian troops early--even before arriving in Korea--when 17 gunners of the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery were killed when a passenger and a troop train crashed head-on at Canoe River, B.C. on 21 November 1950. (Like many events of the Korean War, the memory of this tragic event was buried until a cairn was erected and dedicated on 12 May 1990.)". You should know that every year on 21 Nov, the members of 2 RCHA conduct what has become known as "The Canoe River Memorial" in Petawawa. There are two cairns to my knowledge apart from the one raised in '90. One in Valemount, BC and one at CFB Shilo, Manitoba. |

| Comments: | I'm 24 years old. I am university educated, I have travelled the world, I have been encouraged to follow my dreams, stretch my horizons, share my opinions. I am intensely proud and happy to be Canadian. Everything that I am, and everything that I am grateful for, is possible because of the sacrifices made by veterans. I just wanted to tell you that there are people of my generation who still remember the tremendous efforts that have earned us the right to freedom, security and happiness. I'm very sorry that the Government of Canada has apparently failed to show veterans of the Korean War the respect that they deserve, and I hope that the monument recently unveiled in Windsor is moved to a place of honour in Ottawa in the near future. Please know that I have a tremendous respect for all of Canada's veterans, and often stop to consider how lucky I am to have had such remarkable men and women fight for me. I hope in some way that I am able to make a contribution to Canada that justifies the sacrifices. |

| Comments: | I am trying to collect information on 191 Canadian Infantry Workshop in Korea and personnel who were assigned there. My father (then Sgt. A. G. (Gordon) McBlane, RCEME, Regimental #SM44013) was there from April of 1952 to April of 1953. He passed away at the age of 85 on 29 November, 1999. Like many veterans, he rarely spoke of this experiences there, but they clearly had a profound effect on him, as the father who left when I was a small child was not the father who came back. Since his death, I have collected those portions of his service records that are available to me now (the rest become available 20 years after his death -- 2019) from the national archives. These provide me with a chronology of his career in the military (from 1940 to 1966), but nothing of substance about his time in Korea, during which he received an MiD. |

| Comments: | Have just returned from Pusan, S.Korea. Visited the UN cemetary - a place of peace and beauty in the middle of a busy city.. roses blooming, grass manicured, ornamental shrubs. The statue of the Canadian solider (no insignia nor hat to make it representative of all) with the boy and the girl very moving - only statue in the cemetary. We paid our deep resepects. Thank you all. Madelene |
