| Comments: | Greetings, My name is Seung Lee and I'm an independent documentary producer based in Vancouver, BC. Currently, I'm planning to make a documentary film about the Canadian Veterans who participated in Korean War. Majority of Canadians don't know that more than 26,000 young Canadian soldiers fought and 516 soldiers sacrificed their lives in this so called forgotten war for freedom and democracy of Korea and I, as a Korean-Canadian, feel obliged to tell the public in both countries about these soldiers through the project to deliver the appreciation from the people of Korea and to honor these unsung heroes. Currently, I'm looking for the vets and their family members who can share their stories as a interviewee for the project. I'm sure there are lots of untold stories which deserves a public attention and appreciation. Please feel free to contact me if you have a story to share with us. Thank you very much for the consideration. Best regards |

| Comments: | " A letter of Appreciation" Hello! Please allow me to introduce myself to you. My name is Hiyang and I am from South Korea. It was April 2009. My son was invited to come to Washington D.C. to receive an award. My husband and I were so excited and decided to go to D.C. to see our son and to attend the award ceremony. We had been to D.C. once before. I believe it was about 25 years ago when my son was about five. It was a short visit and we did not see much of the D.C. area at that time. The next day after the exciting award ceremony, we decided to go to the Mall with our son before he left to go back to his home. It was great to be with him again and to spend some time together. The weather was warm already even though it was spring but it was very nice to see the flowers blooming everywhere. The National Mall was so huge. The wind was blowing and the flower smells from the nearby trees were so refreshing. We went to the Lincoln Memorial first. It was great to see it again. I barely remembered the statue and the facial expressions of the great former president. There were many people taking pictures and looking around. After that, we had a chance to visit the Korean War Memorial at the National Mall. I was looking at the statue of the soldiers and country names that sent troops to Korea. I was so grateful that all those countries sent their troops and medical teams to South Korea to fight for our freedom. When I was a student, I learned about the Korean War and how many countries sent their troops to Korea. But being at the Korean War Memorial was a great reminder of what they have done for us. As I walked around the area, I was so overwhelmed by the number of soldiers who lost their lives during the Korean War! I was deeply moved by their love and by their sacrificial death. Soon, I was sobbing and tears were streaming down from my eyes immediately. It was so incredible to be reminded of all those who came to fight and of all those who came to fight and lost their lives. It was during the Korean War that I was born. I could have been killed right after I was born if the US, Canada, and all other nations did not send their soldiers! My mom could have been killed even before she gave a birth of me if there were no helping hands from the US, Canada, and other nations! The freedom is not free! Yes, indeed! The freedom that I enjoyed all these years was not free! The freedom that my family enjoyed all these years was not free! The freedom all of the South Koreans enjoyed all these years was not free! Thank God who intervened in that desperate situation of my country and allowed for the leaders of those nations to make the decision to send out troops to South Korea! Thank God for the leaders of those nations who made the decisions! Thank God for the individual soldiers who made the decision to come to fight for us! She became the nation of South Korea of today because of those who came to fight for us during the Korean War. South Korea was able to become a nation of independence because of those who came to help. I owe you so much for all the freedom I enjoyed. I owe you so much for the freedom of speech that I enjoyed. I owe you so much for the freedom of writing that I enjoyed. I owe you so much for the freedom of faith in Christ that I enjoyed. If there was no freedom, my mom would have not become a Christian. I would not have become a Christian. My sisters would have not become Christian. My husband would have not become a Christian. All of my family members and some of my relatives would have not become Christians. If all of the troops did not come to fight for us and if we lost in that Korean War, South Korea would have not become a nation of today. We would have been under communism all these years. That would have been horrible for me and for all of the South Koreans! Thank you so very much for coming! Thank you so very much for rescuing our lives! Thank you so very much for sacrificial love you showed to me and to all of us! I am so sorry for all the family members, children, and relatives of the Korean War Veterans who lost their loved ones! Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart!!!!!!! I wish I could shake all of your hands and give thanks in person to all of you who came. I wish I could shake all of the family members’ hands that lost their loved ones and give thanks in person. If I did not have the freedom, I would probably have had no chance to get higher education. My family would have had no freedom to move to USA. My son would have not had any chance to be educated in USA and thus would have not received the very special award he got. All the contributions he would make in the future for the humanity in the field of science would have not been thinkable. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! How can I give thanks to you enough for what you have done!!!!!!! We are praying for all those who came to fight and for all of the family members who lost their loved ones during the Korean War. I pray that God will bless every one of you with His special blessings. And He will give you peace that passes all understanding. And please remember that there are so many of us who are so grateful to you all even though we do not have chance to tell you how much we do appreciate you all!!!!!!! Sincerely yours, Hiyang |

| Comments: | Hello and best wishes to all here; I am hoping maybe there's a slim chance someone might remember my Dad, Hugh Lorne Anderson of Calgary, PPCLI (don't know if 1, 2, or 3 - am in process of obtaining his military record). My cousin tells me Dad was in a unit that was nearly overrun but "rescued thanks to US bombardment", which sounds like the action described here, 7th paragraph: http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/2PPCLI/RH-Korea.html. Anyway if someone knew Dad I would love to hear from them, feel free to use email, and will watch this guestbook. Thanks for a great site that all vets and families must love. |

Korean War is called "the Forgotten War," but Koreans have never forgotten the noble sacrifice of Korean War veterans. This project also includes a memorial wall that is going to be built with glass panels or ceramic bricks that will carry 26,791 Canadian veterans'names. Each name will be engraved in each brick. We are planning to match one donor to each veteran. We will prepare a 3D virtual project to sell the 26,791 bricks to matching donors. This is a brief introduction of our project. We are looking forward to getting your feedback and advice. Thanks! |

| Comments: | Just wanted to say thanks for everything you have here. My Dad is a Korean Vet and he would never talk about the war until he found the KVA, now we have heard about everything he and others went through and attended many functions through the KVA. It is great that all these vets can get together and reminisce, I believe it is very therapeutic for them. Thanks again. |

| Comments: | I just found this site, and I wanted to write a quick note. My father, Jean-Marie Michaud served in the Korean War, and I have just found out he may very likely have died far too young as a result of his service on behalf of his country. I am speaking of the study done by the Australian government and the pension now available to widows of Korean veterans. My dad died of cancer back in 1980. He never spoke of his experiences while he served in Korean. I have a picture of my Dad and a buddy, and in this picture my Dad is pretending to be "holding" up his buddy(he has a weapon in his hand) and there is an ambulence in the background. My father was an ambulance driver while he served there. The biggest thing I remember is the frustration he would show us kids when we wouldn't eat our dinners. He would ask us if we knew that in other countries, children would spend their whole day in dump heaps searching for food to eat. He never forgot what he saw the refugees live through. He told me of one time he helped a mother who was holding a baby in her arms. She didn't have a coat, and it was so cold that the breast milk had frozen in her breasts. He said that they helped her thaw her breasts, and then he gave her his coat. I love my Dad, and I am proud to be his daughter. I still think of him every day. My Mom is in the process of applying of the pension offered to widows of Korean veterans. She was thinking of not applying, but I said that she lost her husband way to soon, and I lost my Dad way too soon. My Dad, as it turns out, died in service of his country when he died of cancer. I guess the grief never goes away, but it is softer now. Thanks you all, God bless you all, and thank you for creating this place where I can have an opportunity to share my burden of sorrow. |

Our loved ones are very highky Respected and their graves are magnificently cared for by school chilren. We were treated like royalty during our time and so I personally know my brother PTE.K W.Norton is in caring hands with the Korean People as they for sure aknowledged it was a war not a conflict as many many of our own still do not.HOpefully our country will start to pay attention to Remembrance Day and realize why we have our freedom. |

My uncle, Bernard Paul FAIRFIELD enlisted on January 24, 1951 and died on September 13, 1952. He is buried in Busan, South Korea and was only 19 years old at the time. Until yesterday, nobody in the family even knew he existed (okay, we are disfonctional). I have a great passion for genealogy and am currently researching our family history. I was very proud when I found out I had an uncle who believed in peace and was brave enough to die for it. If anybody knew of him, I would be forever grateful for any information or photos. Warmest regards to all the vets! |

| Comments: | I just finished seeing on my MSN homepage that one of your memorials was desecrated. I was so moved that I had to respond to say to you and all whom you represent how sorry I am and how disgusted I feel. Please accept this small token as proof that people from all walks of life do care about you and what was accomplished by those you represent. May the days to come only bring good news, and rekindled appreciation for all of our Vets. Pastor Shawn |

| Comments: | I am a former 13 year member of the Canadian Army (1954-67). My local RCL (Branch 117) has asked my church to attempt to ascertain the names of any "local" Parry Sound Korean Veterans, particularly any casualties. The local Cdn Legion is embarking on project to inscribe the names of all Korean Veterans who died connected with the Korean War. Information would be gratefully appreciated. William T. Beagan, CD. |
