During the handover as a company signaller I became friendly with my "teacher" a wireless operator who answered to the nickname "Dook". I think it was really meant to be "Duke" but that's how you blokes pronounced it. All you Canadians were most helpful and friendly, a great pleasure to be near. You did a wonderful job in Korea. Thanks for the memories. Why is the Korean war never mentioned? Many Commonwealth troops died and were injured, I met great Australians, Americans, and even men from a Turkish regiment along side us. Best Regards to you all. |

| Comments: | Glad I found this site. I'm from your "enemy" side--my father served the Chinese army in Korea 1950-1958. All the info I got from him & media was Chinese fought a war to defend China. Now immigrated to Canada, I saw the other side of the truth, mostly from History Televion. I feel sorry for those who died in the war, Chinese or Canadians. If my father know the truth of the war, he would not support it, for sure. But back in China, all media is controlled by government. It's just so sad people died for this. I want to meet any veteran in person, just to say "thank you!", without your fighting, the whole world may now under communist rule. |

| Comments: | I was in the 3rd AAA AW BN (SP), 3rd Infantry Division in Korea 1950-1951. At one time my squad was attached to the Canadian Princes Pat Regiment. We were also attached to the British Old Fathers Brigade once. These guys were all over 40 yrs old and volunteers. I was at the Chosin Reservoir Nov-Dec 1950 with Task Force Dog. When I returned home to International Falls, Minnesota, I met a guy from Fort Francis, Ontario who had been in the Princes Pat Regt the same time my squad was attached in Korea. I can't remember his name but we went on one hell of a bender. I'm lucky I remember my own name. I just want to say congratulations to all you survivors who have made it this far. A tough outfit. |

I was very hurt that my father(kevin scully) was only recognized for obtaining photographs for the north bay was memorial wall. My father worked four years on that wall,,,,of course with others,,,,,,obtaining information, writing a book called "The Loon" all proceeds going to the wall. He also raised money, employed architects, did numerous right ups. My father is not here to speak up for himself.,,,He probably would not,,,,,but i will and so will his wife Cecile Scully. Please whoever wrote this article, should with a clear conscience,,,,please, give credit, where credit is due. I will not let this go until it is. Thank you all for reading this. I miss my father so very much,,,He was a kind, quiet, generous, caring and so proud to be Canadian. |

| Comments: | I would like to hear from anyone who may remember my dad from Korea. He didn't talk about his time there. I think he went over in '51. I have his number off of one of his medals SH800374 Tom Burwell. If you knew him or anything that would help me, I'd really like to hear from you. Thanks to all of our veterans for all you've done and continue to do! |

| Comments: | Since signing in June our e-mail has changed.Thank you for your very informative site. My husband, Don Moreau, is Korean War Veteran. He enlisted in Frederiction, NB in December 1951 and served in Korea with the R22eR from May 1952 until October 1952 when he was seriously wounded. He then spent almost four years in ongoing surgery and rehabilation. We have been unable find any pictures of his unit - he lost everything at that time - would anyone know where to look? I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have served with him. God bless and thank you to all the veterans. |

| Comments: | MPVA Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Republic of Korea Message for the Nov. 11th Commemorative Ceremony from Minister of the Korean Veterans Affairs It is very meaningful on Remembrance Day that Korean War veterans around the world turn toward the UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea and pause for a moment of silence, as well as have a commemorative ceremony for fallen Korean War heroes. I would like to pay my warmest tribute to Korean War veterans of the UN Allied Forces who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and world peace. On behalf of the Korean government and all the people of Korea, I would like to express my profound gratitude and appreciation to all the Korean War veterans for their ultimate sacrifices and dedication and also to Mr. Vincent Courtenay, president of the Korean War Commemoration Council of Canada, who initiated this unique memorial event. The UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea is the only burial site for Korean War Veterans who lost their precious lives and laid to rest in peace. This is a holy place for the UN fallen braves who were not able to return to their families and countries. They defended our country they never knew and protected our people they never met, but they are still here to defend our country. “Turning toward Busan” movement is a special commemorative event that Korean War veterans honor and remember by turning toward this cemetery where 2,300 of the UN’s fallen braves interred during the Korean War and hold two minutes of silence for fallen Korean War heroes. Korean War veterans around the world! We are no longer in the same place but I am sure that your thoughts, minds, and prayers are here with us today as they were 57 years ago in Korea. Thanks to great men and women, South Korea has become the 10th largest economy in the world after recovering the devastating poverty and ruin at the war. Our country will continue to prove that sacrifices and devotion of Korean War veterans were not made in vain. Korean War veterans laid solid foundation for freedom and peace now the Korean people are enjoying. We will never forget the noble sacrifices of those brave men and women of Korean War veterans and pray for the souls of the fallen heroes forever. The Korean government will pledge to contribute to establishing world peace and enhancing international cooperation. Once again, I pay tribute to Korean War veterans who lost their priceless lives, and I pay respect to all those who fought for freedom in that war. May God bless Korean War veterans and their families, and may God continue to bless UN Allies for the Korean War. Thank you. | Comments: | RE: PAUL A. STEWART I have spent many years trying to track down information on my Dad, unfortunately due to a nasty divorce and an uncooperative family (my mothers) I have not been able to get a lot of info. He served in Korea in the mid 1950's (I understand he may have only been seventeen/eighteen when he arrived, spent time out in Western Canada after the war - his parents were involved with the Salvation Army). I know he tried to see me - thru my grandmother who was raising me, but she wouldn't let him. If anyone served with him, or knows how to get in touch with him (or if he is even still around) I would really appreciate the help. He has grandchildren who should meet a real live hero and two daughters who miss him very much. "Thank you" to all of you for the great sacrifices you made! Karyanne Newton (Stewart) |

I have made arrangements for several of the streets to be named for men who died in WW2 and were from Scarborough. I would like to add some names of men who came from Scarborough to the list, who gave their life in Korea. From the 42 I gave the City they accepted 12, so it's not a done deal. The names cannot conflict with established street names. The signs will have a poppy enblazoned to show a death on Active Service. Please contact me via email wjmcd@sympatico.ca Bill McDonald |
