My family returned to the UK but I have no memory of him. I so remember going to school and the bungalow we lived in Chee Seng Gardens. | Comments: | signed up in 61,basic at bridgnorth then on to 27 laa at akrotir,we still used the old gun compound for work ect.but used billets by the 3wing club.then the compound closed and we moved to the then "new compound" by the main gate. after about 18 months or so. i was asked if i wanted to go to nicosia to 26 sqdn.going to singapore christmas 63. stayed in a block just outside of changi for about 6 month [i think]. then moved down to T.P. where we deployed the guns,was asked if i wanted to extend my tour by 6 months SAID YES. i was on gun A5. by the leave center.back to catterick in 65. after 6 months back to aktotiri on 34 sqdn. stayed there with danny gourd.i left in 68 back to catterick then out by the end of 68. |

| Comments: | Joined up March 1962, basic squarebashing, at Bridgenorth,then posted to the regt depot for gunner training, first posting was 37laa sqdn at raf sealand nth wales,then 37 was moved to raf upwood, i was posted to tengah for 63fld change over to ack ack as i had been on layer training at nth wales,i was on 63LAA from july 1963 till jan 1966,then 48fld sqdn at catterick,did a detatchment to khormaksar aden ,sept66 to jan67, also did a couple of detatchments to GAN while i was at raf tengah,we had the best regt football team in malaysia,nobody beat us not even the marines ,and thay were good, after the aden detatchment back to the depot and demobed august1967, the only thing i remember about butterworth was that we beat them at football. |

I remember the RAF mess because I think the midday meal had every concievable method of cooking horrible potatoes that had come from somewhere in the UK probably by slow boat. |

I think our flight built the first hedgehogs in salalah some digging, but them charlies were good the following night I think the round was a case a time. Did a couple of stints on RAF Gan, sure a lot of you remember that. China Rock has one distinct memory, never forget it, myself and an Australian guy made a stew on the way back to Singapore, and guys if you knew what went into that Stew, I wouldn't be alive today. | Comments: | Thanks for a great site,joined RAF REGT 68 to 76, medically discharged end 76, perforated ear drum after back blast from charlie G,in dhekelia(cyprus)at that time in 26 field sqn Gutersloh from 74 to 76, anyone remember when we we went to cyprus when turks invaded in 74, wew were there if i remember correct AUG/SEPT/OCT,in troodos & on the road between Akrotiri& Limassol. Albie Leggit, Stuart Pearson, Nick Newell, to name a few, obviously many more , but i'm getting old now (53). Swinderby, Catterick, Q.C.S.68to70,then my happiest and busiest time was 15 field sqdn,RAF Wittering 70 to 74,three tours in Northern Ireland, one in Belfast,Ballymurphy estate,(eye opener) two in Aldergrove,RAF luqa (malta dom mintoff era),one tour in Bahrain, three tours in the lovely SALALAH,remember Bravo,and Charlie hedgehog's,and the lovely COOL tents for accomodation,mind you the pool wasn't too bad, and what about the cinema, that was something else, behind the oil barrels, with two cans of san miguel allowed on 24 off. Nick? Skelton, Bruce Sharp,Paddy Geoghegan,Taff&Sharon Jones, Steve?Usher, it would be great to hear from any of you,or any one else who recognise my name,like Ian& Elizabeth Cunningham.Forgot two tours Kai Tak,Honkers (Taimoshan)that was heaven compared with Salalah.Thanks boys,hope to hear from someone out there. I served on 1 field Butterworth from 1962 until 1965. i now live in the Teeside area, where ther is still a largish population of old Rocks.does anyone remember Danny Sailor Wilson, Sid Siddique,Taf Powell, Squash Warburton,Don Birmingham, Vicki Sigsworth, Jock Sinclair,Pete Lamb (deceased). All live or lived in the Darlington,Teeside Area. If any one knows the whereabouts of Mick Franklin ex 1 field and 2 field squadron, his big buddy Vic Sigsworth has been looking for him for years. They were separated when Vic was posted to Cyprus in the late sixties early seventies.If anyone has information on Mick get in touch with me and I will pass it on to Vic. He would be overjoyed if he could get in contact with Mick, they were like brothers. |

My Dad suddenly passed away this year and I am now doing some research into RAF Regiment Parachute Units.
