Hello. My father was just given a glass bottle for his birthday, which reads....P.E. Birmingham bottler, West Creek. It's a light greenish-blue color & I believe it stands 9 & a 1/2" tall.I have not had any luck in my research on this company name. Would you be able to give any info at all on this bottle?

I would like to purchase the William Young piece. I was thrilled to have done business with you aquiring the McCully plate some time back. Due to the fragile nature of the WYS item is it ok to pick up. I will have a table @ the south river show and could pick it up there, that is if you attend of course. I have no issue paying now and waiting. Please let me know what works for you. As always you provide quality items and its a joy looking at the site.

Dear Mr. Flowers,

I have periodically searched on the Internet for the name "John Fritz," as I own a log pitcher similar to the deer's head pitcher you're displaying. Mine does not have a deer's head, but it does have the tree ring sawed-off branch, the bark, and all the other characteristics mentioned in your description. It has been in my family for generations, belonging originally to my grandfather, who was born in 1876 in Jersey City. I'm delighted to have finally discovered its origins. Thank you.

Warmest regards,
Bonnie Lynne Smith

Briefly, I was a very avid bottle collector in the 1970’s. I carried a bottle guide everywhere I possibly could.

One day I purchased a Wheaton Helen Keller commemorative bottle because my pocket guide said there
were some made with incorrect dates on the face of the bottle…1880 to 1868 instead of 1880 to 1968.

I recently found my collection in a box in storage. I have searched/searched and no mention anywhere (even EBay)
about a “mistake” bottle….

Suggestions as to determine if a desired bottle?

Thank you in advance.

Looking for some help. WE live in Berlin Borough NJ and discovered many artifacts in the ground on our property. Including bottles with "Berlin Bottling Works" in raised lettering on the glass. Plus about 75 other types of bottles, jars, some pottery, etc. Having a hard time finding out why it might be here??
Can you shed any light on the topic?
Thanks

Hi there,
I just bought a pottery set only because another buyer was trying to break the set up. The set is a water pitcher and basin, a matching pee pot with lid, a matching cup and a matching covered dish. Someone said the dish was for soap. I have researched the mark and it is Coxon and Thompson Pottery. The mark is the scrolled initials CTP with a wreath around it, the word empire above and the words Trenton, NJ and Lily below. The Trenton, NJ website says that the wreath was added about 1892.
Okay, my question is...is this set of value? What is the covered dish (bowl) used for? And why the mug? The set has no chips and only slight wear such as the pee pot has some crackles by the handel and some yellowing in the same place. The blue pattern looks like transferware and are pretty lilies.
What did I buy? I really did only buy it because they were going to sell the pitcher and bowl separately. I paid $145.00. I have a place for it on an old washstand but do you have any other information?
Thanks for your help.

I recently purchased a blown glass piece on e-bay, and I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out if it is original or a reproduction. It stands about 7 inches high, has no mold seams and is pontiled. I have posted pictures of it at www.thoughtsfromchemistry.blogspot.com
If anyone could help me figure this out I would really, really appreciate it.

In the course of doing some landscaping work I uncovered an old blob top bottle with "Chas. F. Hohlweg
Mantua, NJ"
embossed on the front of it. It has quite a few air bubbles in the glass. I've read quite a bit of history of Mantua, NJ over the years and have never heard of any Hohlweg bottler. I'm not really interested in the value of the bottle, but would like to know something about it's origins.

When I was a child in the 60's, a house in the neigborhood was torn down, so they could build a new one. When it was cleared, I found an old bottle. It was in the shape of a log cabin and was blue, with the date 1840 on it. It also had "Weatons" on it. Can anyone give me any information about this bottle? Age? etc.

Thanks,
Kathy

I have a late 19th century cupboard (South Jersey) that I would like to sell. I was going to bring it to Bob Brooks but will see if you want it first. I LOVE your site. My e-mail may not be operating properly. My phone no. is (609) 561-5313. This piece was made for my great-grandmother by an Abbott that lived in Gravelly Run in the old house that was the old Gravelly Run Country Store, then Antiqurian and now a plant store on Rt.559 outside of Mays Landing.
