Briefly, I was a very avid bottle collector in the 1970’s. I carried a bottle guide everywhere I possibly could.

One day I purchased a Wheaton Helen Keller commemorative bottle because my pocket guide said there
were some made with incorrect dates on the face of the bottle…1880 to 1868 instead of 1880 to 1968.

I recently found my collection in a box in storage. I have searched/searched and no mention anywhere (even EBay)
about a “mistake” bottle….

Suggestions as to determine if a desired bottle?

Thank you in advance.

My mother was married to the son of August Hofbauer of Hofbauer glass. I am looking for any relatives. If you could be of assistance, please email me at above address. I also have a few pieces of the glass that was made for my mother. As a child I remember visiting the glass factory and watching the glass blown.

Looking for some help. WE live in Berlin Borough NJ and discovered many artifacts in the ground on our property. Including bottles with "Berlin Bottling Works" in raised lettering on the glass. Plus about 75 other types of bottles, jars, some pottery, etc. Having a hard time finding out why it might be here??
Can you shed any light on the topic?
Thanks

Hi there,
I just bought a pottery set only because another buyer was trying to break the set up. The set is a water pitcher and basin, a matching pee pot with lid, a matching cup and a matching covered dish. Someone said the dish was for soap. I have researched the mark and it is Coxon and Thompson Pottery. The mark is the scrolled initials CTP with a wreath around it, the word empire above and the words Trenton, NJ and Lily below. The Trenton, NJ website says that the wreath was added about 1892.
Okay, my question is...is this set of value? What is the covered dish (bowl) used for? And why the mug? The set has no chips and only slight wear such as the pee pot has some crackles by the handel and some yellowing in the same place. The blue pattern looks like transferware and are pretty lilies.
What did I buy? I really did only buy it because they were going to sell the pitcher and bowl separately. I paid $145.00. I have a place for it on an old washstand but do you have any other information?
Thanks for your help.

In the course of doing some landscaping work I uncovered an old blob top bottle with "Chas. F. Hohlweg
Mantua, NJ"
embossed on the front of it. It has quite a few air bubbles in the glass. I've read quite a bit of history of Mantua, NJ over the years and have never heard of any Hohlweg bottler. I'm not really interested in the value of the bottle, but would like to know something about it's origins.

When I was a child in the 60's, a house in the neigborhood was torn down, so they could build a new one. When it was cleared, I found an old bottle. It was in the shape of a log cabin and was blue, with the date 1840 on it. It also had "Weatons" on it. Can anyone give me any information about this bottle? Age? etc.

Thanks,
Kathy

I have a late 19th century cupboard (South Jersey) that I would like to sell. I was going to bring it to Bob Brooks but will see if you want it first. I LOVE your site. My e-mail may not be operating properly. My phone no. is (609) 561-5313. This piece was made for my great-grandmother by an Abbott that lived in Gravelly Run in the old house that was the old Gravelly Run Country Store, then Antiqurian and now a plant store on Rt.559 outside of Mays Landing.

Hi Hank,

It's always a pleasure to look through your website. Thanks for providing this forum for other collectors.

For those of you who don't know me, I've been a collector and historian
of Clevenger Brothers and other 20th century South Jersey glass for
twenty years. I'm writing a book about the Clevengers and their twentieth century South Jersey glassblowing contemporaries. Although
I'm quite far along in my work on this book, I'm always happy to hear from people if they have any new information, photographs, catalogs, etc., and especially if they or a relative worked in any of these small operations.

Any information on Clevenger Brothers, Emil Larson, Beacon, Dell, Delsam, August Hofbauer, Downer, Iona, Ted Ramp, Marks, Liberty Village, Jersey Bog, "Glass of South Jersey", and Old Jersey Glass Co. would be greatly appreciated. (plus anyone else I've forgotten to mention!) I'm especially interested talking to any relatives of Adolph Macho.

Thanks for your help!

I have a medium blue bottle / decanter with a shot glass top that is 3-mold with pressed notes in diamonds. The inside of the decanter has an irregular large dot or reverse thumbprint pattern, the exterior is smooth with a long stretched neck and flared top. There are two mold lines on the ball shaped body. There was a cork on the bottom of the shot glass stopper but it disintegrated. There is a paper and foil label on the bottom that says Old Jersey Glass Co Inc. Hand Made in America with a man blowing glass. I am trying to find information about age, pattern, etc. If you give me an email address, I can send you digital photos. Thanks.

I am researching the families of a Joseph Capewell and a William
Bennett, both were born in England and came to US in the 1820s.
Apparently they formed a Glass Blower- Glass manufacturing company
first in the Kensington area of Phil. Pa and later c. 1840 moved their
operation to the Camden area of New Jersey.

Do you have any further info about these two men and their glass making
enterprise?

Thank you,

Tara
