| Comments: | Dear Maryse, you seem to be the foremost expert on everything about Nana Mouskouri, I wonder could I ask you a short question. I'm in my 30s but have been a fan for as long as I can remember and I saw a concert of hers in Sydney in about June/July 1991. I am a fan of hers largely due to my Mum who loves listening to her. There is a song which I remember Nana Mouskouri singing which I think was in a movie which I have never heard since but which has always stuck in my head and which I remember made my Mum cry. The lyrics are..."Mama where do we go from here, Mama what can we do, Mama is Daddy very near, and Mama, why do you pray". Some of the words may be slightly off the mark and mixed a little but I hope this is faithful enough to jolt your memory. | Comments: | I met Nana Mouskouri in the opera house Belfast back in 1986, being a young man of 24 and being in total awe of this woman and her unique and beautiful voice I was lost for words upon meeting her after the concert. I had watched from a very young age when she had her UK television show and could not believe I was now meeting her. I actually managed to give her a white rose while she sang the White Rose of Athens, till this day I hold that night very close to my heart as a wonderful memory. Nana Mouskouri has touched hearts all over the world and she will be greatly missed from the world stage, there are few performers who could perform internationally as this true star has. I hope she enjoys life to the full in her new life, but if Ms Mouskouri ever wanted to return to Belfast, she would be given the warmest of welcomes, as she has warmed our hearts and souls for so many years. |

White Rose of Athens still brings a tear to my eyes. When I returned to England in 1970 she was on the TV here as a newcomer and I LOVED it. I loved her band, the Athenians too and their bazukis. The BBC have just repeated a show and have been staggered by the response. I thin we're in for some more. Her voice is a pleasure to behold and I STILL get a small tear when I hear the White Rose. I approached you and, probably being one of the only Greek-Americans in the club, we had a wonderful conversation!!! I just know you remember those days. The band leader had a bad leg and walked with a severe limp!! I have followed your career since then. When you came to the US on your 1st tour with Harry, I was there with my ex-husband. We were together backstage and later you came to my apt. with George. When I divorced I returned to Conn.(you used to refer to me as "Katherine from Conn.!) Are you remembering now?? When you sang in New Hampshire I brought our Greek priest and his wife to the concert. | Comments: | Nana's concert was georgeous again but she was very tired and a bit upset as just a few days ago in Paris, her very close friend, Jean-Claude Briarly passed away. I didn't take any photos except one suprise one afterwards when we met her. She didn't know I took it which was just as well. Today was a suprise too. We were able to attend a special luncheon at the congress centre where Nana was a guest speaker for UNICEF at a special Ottawa fund raising organisation. So that was a bonus plus we met Stephane (quebec site) and Yolanda from Holland and Kathy from NZ and 2 ladies from England. We all had a drink at an Irish pub after the show and we were invited to go to the luncheon so we re-organised ourselves and went. Nana made a wonderful speech as an ambassador for UNICEF. Other dignitaries included Greeces Ambassadorto Ottawa and other local dignitaries and us!!!!!!!!!! We were made to feel very welcome and they were VERY interested that we had come so far to be there. Food was very good. |

My mother and I went together to London , Germany ? Holland ,...In November 2004 cancer was discovered in my mother's body . This year it ended with a final , uncurable brain tumor. I got a wonderful letter of Nana , repenting on the loss of a mother. I was so grateful to her! This is real love! She'sthe only artist in the world that loves her fans that much!!!I'm so glad I may know her! From 26th April this year untill 19th May I did the whole Canada-tour with her.Sometimes we were on the same plane , but I did as if she wasn't there : in her private time , I am to let her alone : she's there for us the whole evening!It was incredible , unforgettable!Twenty four days in her surroundings,waaw!!!!Eveywhere it was sold out : nice for her!She's a grand LADY!!!! | Comments: | Hi Maryse, Just read the comments of Russ Martin of K-L-U-X . I wanted to say that I had a similar experience with Nana's music a few years back when I was working in a gift shop. The owner of the store liked to play C.D.,s of show tunes (musicals), so I started taking my Nana C.D.'s in to play. I can tell you that every time I played Nana's music someone always asked me who the singer was and they were always shocked to know it was Nana, they all remembered her but many thought that she had retired or they weren't aware that she could sing classical music or some even thought that she only sang Greek music, most remembered her from her T.V shows. Many times I noticed people walking around the shop for long periods of time and they would say to me , I'm sorry but I haven't found anything to buy but I can't leave yet because I'm listening to this beautiful music then they would want to know the name and number of the C.D. which of course I was more than happy to give them, I used to tease the boss and say to him, "You should get some Nana C.D's into the store, I could sell heaps for you" he always laughed but never did. I had forgotten about her over the years (yes,it's true) having moved first to Africa then to the US. I am at present listening to her Concert for Peace and totally blown away by her fabulous voice and the passion she imparts to each piece of music. Needless to say I am crying profusely! | Comments: | I first heard Nana sing over 30 years ago when my youngest child was just a baby. I saw her on a television program with Harry Belefonte and instantly became a fan. I have been fortunate to see and hear her perform in several concerts and to receive a autographed program from her in person many years ago. She is truly a class act with a very special gift. I hope to be able to see her on her farewll tour in 2006. We will miss her. She has always had a very large following her in Canada. |

Since I was a teenager, some 35 years ago, Nana came to me on the Canadian Broadcasting Network evening special from the Olympia in France, and I have followed her music ever since. Her voice captivates and her choice of music fulfills the heartstrings we as human beings crave to make meaningful. Still, the voice of Nana brings love to the words love songs express, and fun to the lively songs she shares, but always, her voice is the most beautiful, and her vocal sounds the most dynamic. For the meaning Nana puts to her songs, I remain grateful, but for the dynamics of sound she brings to her songs, I remain in awe. This singer is so great, and I believe many know this, and we all thank Nana for sharing her wonderful talent, her beautiful voice. (Should she get a chance once more, it would be great to see Nana in western Canada....Calgary or Kelowna perhaps?) Happy 2005 tour to my great singer Nana Mouskouri! |

I am a 40 year old woman now and just started taking singing classes about 3 months ago. My favorite music now is from Nana Mouskouri. I do now understand my father's choices...She is the best, has the best voice and I can listen to her for hours. Only Love... |

If you have not heard her sing yet you trully are missing a treat, she is absolutley superb, divine and the most talented female singer this century:-) Nana can sing the most sexy, smooth jazz, the trully divine classices, and throws in some great country,f folk and gospel too, and to top it all she can sing in as many as 16 difrent languages i think that's right isn't it? I have her latest CDs which are generally not available here. I have not been able to acquire her 2002 CD "Ode to Joy". She is a truly remarkable singer. | Comments: | Nana's concert in Montreal was brilliant. Some of us fans were standing close to the stage and were able to shake hands with her. I was also lucky to bump into her and Andre as they arrived in to the artis's entrance on Friday. I shook hands with Andre and said hello to Nana and told her that I've got lots of records at home and I'm from New Zealand.
