| Comments: | All of you people who practice all the time and everyone else sucks, a sarcastic pat on the back for you. Complaining about everyone else doesn't do any good and you being the best doesn't make your drumline the best. So you say 'well I can play all the stuff in Drumline.' Did you actually WATCH the movie? One band, one sound.
It's up to everyone in the drumline to set an example for each other and be a leader but encouraging and pushing people to find their ambition, not to follow yours. Our drumline fought each other in a power struggle for two years. We were one of the worst drumlines in the area and completely ruined the Marching Band's reputation. A couple people stepped up who everyone admired for their sincerety. They weren't the best in the drumline at all, but that didn't mean they weren't the best leaders. We practiced year round and now we are the best. Not necessarily just musically, but for the work we put into it and for the respect we've formed for each other. |

| Comments: | I'm on the Hamburg High drumline and all i can say is that percussion is a very great instrument to play. People don't ralize this but without the drumline there's no band. We keep the beat. If you have no percussion, you'll have five different beats. I play Bass 1 and hope to play Tenor next year. I play pretty good on tenor with our cadence but there are a couple of mess ups. I wrote my own cadence for the tenor and basses. I am currently working on the snare drum part for it. Anyway all I'm saying is people like to dis the drumline but they never realize the importance of it. If anyone wants my cadence please send me an email. |

Ight first of all this was not a movie to be about precision. U know down south, where i'm from its all about the groove, and typically the fans could care less about the small riffs here and there, but as long as they got something to shake they ass to, its all good. And second in the south, drumline battles are like freestyles, its all about how bad u rip on the otha person.Now im not sayin there is anything wrong with precision style drumlines, cuz i am on one myself, all i'm sayin is u have to respect the type of style that they play |

Okay, so I'm the only freshman in my drumline and I'm first chair and section leader. Everyone treats me like shit because I'm the youngest but the best. They're all mad because I can play shit off Drumline and they can't. Bottom line : I practice...I took a marching snare home and I play pretty much every day. Now, there is NOTHING stopping the rest of the drumline from taking their drums home. If they would, we would have one kick-ass drumline. But noooo, "We're too stuck up to do that!" ergh.. I've been a drummer my whole life. I've played in my local drum corp along with my high school band. Now, for all you ppl out there who are angry because you couldnt make the drumline OH WELL. When I was in 9th grade recieved second to last chair when I new i was should have been atleast top 3. The next year when I was a sophmore we had to play a pretty difficult piece. So I practiced it everyday until I memorized it. Come time for auditions I got 1st chair beating out 5 seniors and 6 juniors. What I'm saying is don't let it get you down drive on and perfect your mistakes, because chances are while your doing that the people over you are going to be too self confident in themselves and are going to start shamming on practice. For those who are still in High School I'de be sittin there in study hall tapping rudiments on the table or when im at home bored take out that practice pad and some sticks.It works! I currently live in Korea so its kinda hard to find some drumming entertainment. Although when I was training in Oklahoma i went to a percussive arts museum very nice! I agree, many who are younger than me (Yes, like you LOGAN KEITH) have made drumline at Owen Valley...the school I attend. But does that give them bragging rights? The first time I started to play was just a few weeks before try outs... so those who are younger than me...your not a bad ass just because you made dumline and I didn't. I understand the fact that you have been doing percussion longer than I, but just because your under age and made Drumline doesn't make you special. If I may note the message Logan wrote not too long ago...if you read it....all it's saying is "Hey...I made drumline and I'm only in 7th grade!" Well whoopdy-fuckin-doo Logan! The only reason you got on Drumline was because your "Daddy" makes our t-shirts. You don't think you got on there because you were good...do ya. You realize every practice Tim yells at you because you do something wrong....well u know why...u suck....so u have no right to brag. |

| Comments: | Hi, I'm a Mellophone player in Southridge's marching band. Let me tell you a little about our story. (Just in case you heard rumors. We're sending this to the other local high school marching bands.) Since our school opened in 1976, the only ratings that we've ever received at F.B.A. were superiors. But last year we broke our show with our crappy show, Fantasia 2000. (You probably thought it was crappy,too.) Everyone cried and was heart broken. (If you had all that pressure of 25 years with straight superiors, then you'd understand.) I originally started playing Baritonein 7th grade when I started band. Now I play french horn and mellophone, even though I still like baritone a lot. I started wanting to play mello when I saw a senior mello playing her solo in Concierto de Aranjuez in our 25th anniversary show "A Day in the Life of A Bullfighter." Junior and seniors probably remember that show. It was like some songs from spain. So last year I started playing it in "Fantasia 2000". Well thi year our show is called "Musica Fuerte". The song include, "El Cumbanchero", "Brazil", "A Mis Abuelos", and "Mucho Mojo". A reason that I think that we didn't receive superiors last year was because last year one of the band director left the band before band camp. All he left was a note saying why he left us. (Mostly because the stupid, rude drummers were rude to him and the rest of the band. And he lived far. He's never talked to us since, even though he said he'd visit. His name was Mr. Kirk Jackson, a very good marching band director with good G E ideas. Our other band director isn't really good at marching band stuff. He's more of a jazz band guy. He left this year after band camp1.) Now our band direcctor who replaced Mr. Jackson when he left is looking for another band director to fill in for Mr. Campo. This year we're getting a lot of help from drum corps people coming to our rehearsals and drills. We used to practice from 6-8pm during the summer between band camp 1 and 2. Now its from 5-8pm. And we practice outside just basics block. Before, we never went outside. And band camp2 will be from 8am-6pm! The years before, it was from 9am-4pm. The reason is, because we are trying to get what we should have gotten last year. During the school year, drill is from 3-6pm, same as the years before. If you are a junior or a senior, then you probably remember our show, "A Day in the Life of a Bullfighter". It was great! We now have three drum majors and are hoping to become friends with your band. I wonder what your show is this year? E-mail me to tell me. I beg you to share this with your band aloud and band director to understand what we are trying to achieve. We don't want you to feel sorry for us, but we just don't want you to think that we are a failure this year, because I assure you. We are not this year! Last year was just a fluke but this year we'll get back on our feet!(That reminds me, I fell last year at F.B.A.! It was horrible. Everything went wrong we got E E E E S= E.)
