I was directed to your site by Graeme Bell. I am very distantly related to Thomas Brassey(railway engineer) My Grandfather always said his grandmother Mary Ann Brassey was a second cousin of Thomas' and with you site & Graeme's help I have finally made the connection through George Brassey who was brother to my ancestor Richard Brassey. I still live on the Wirral where this branch of the family settled & know Birkenhead well.In fact about 2 miles away in SaughallMassie is a plaque in Thomas' memory, as the first bridge he built is still there, only small, but still a Brassey bridge! Your excellent site has been an inspiration to me. For anyone else researching via the internet on the many families from Castle Camps, Shudy Camps, West Wickham, Weston Colville, Carlton-cum-Willingham, Balsham and the many other villages around the Cambridgehsire/Essex/Suffolk borders, then 2 other sites well worth looking at are the Flack Genealogy (Excellent site Jim) and also Historyscape. (You will find them by running a Google search.) I have Woollard, Pollard, Gault, Mynott, Marsh, Clayden, Purkiss, Willings and many others on my tree. Have some aspects of tree going back to the 1500's with a link to Samuel Pepys the diarist! A lot of the ancestors moved to London in the latter half of the 19th century and included cordwainers (shoemakers)and agricultural labourers who the went on to work on the railways, printing, horse dealing among other work. Would love to hear from anyone with the above names in their tree to swap information. |

My gg-grandfather, the shipbuilder Phineas Holden Moseley immigrated with his wife Sarah Tilton & 3 children in 1817. Heinrich's Horse drawn Hearse was restored by the National Trust and is on display at the Millicent Museum S.A. at Millicent. First two wives died and finally married a German orphan, Johanna Binder. Some of the family is in W.A. as Wotzgo too. |

Have been concentrating lately on my mother's line. Frequently stay with a Baron in Belgium who is a 4th cousin. Just fluke that his side ended up wealthy whilst mine stayed in the real world.
